About this property
Ocean Front: A week in June and a week in August open for 2026!
Ocean Isle Beach has a lot going for it; it's the PERFECT beach and the Seawitch is front row! Situated close to golf courses, outlet malls, musical entertainment, great seafood, and some of the most spectacular sunsets this side of the Mississippi! Come spend a long weekend or summer week in our cozy cottage right on the water where you can sit on the front porch and watch the waves roll in.
This Ocean Front Cottage on OIB is located where the island is the least crowded but the pier, puttputt, shops and restaurants are a short walk away. It is an easy walk to the Friday night concerts in the park.
The 'Seawitch', aptly named, because that is what my grandmother said she looked like as she came up out of the water from a swim, is a beautiful, family oriented, lovingly cared for, cottage style OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
This five bedroom cottage has two bedrooms with one queen-sized bed each, two bedrooms with one queen and one double bed, and one bedroom with two double beds each for a total capacity of 16 plus a baby bed in one of the rooms. We do not offer linen service, but we recommend that if you want book linens to contact Angie's Linens at Ocean Isle Beach, NC at 910-575-2788. Book early they are only open M-F 8-6. Or cut your price by bringing your own bed linens and towels.
Each year we do renovations or improvements in the spring. We are constantly upgrading and replacing items to make sure that you have a wonderful experience. Last year we bought five new hybrid medium firm mattresses and they are comfy. This year we are upgrading a bathroom to include a shower with a seat and we are adding a new glass panel door so your view to the ocean will be pristine. We do take our renters suggestions to heart when planning improvements for the next year, so please make any suggestions in our on site Guest Book. We would love for you to return year after year!
Built in 1979 with the 'old style' beach cottage in mind, the kitchen, dining area and the living room are in the middle and the bedrooms on the sides of the house. The cottage has three bathrooms upstairs, a outside enclosed shower downstairs, and a place to rinse off on the pier.
The real luxury of the house though is the front porch and deck area with its rocking chairs, picnic table, and loungers. Feel the ocean breezes flow over you as your cares slip away. No need to stake your claim by arriving to the beach in the early hours of the morning, as we are on a less crowded area of the beach, so you can just walk off our pier and set up your beach chairs whenever you are ready. Then, once you have had enough sun and fun for the day, run off the beach and straight up to your cottage, take a shower in the outside shower, and sit in a rocking chair until you dry off from your swim. The clothes line is usually seen with towels and bathing suits flapping in the wind.
Make yourself some 'Frogmore Stew', throw it out on some newspapers on the large dining room table and tell the kids to dig in. Hang up some party lights and dance on the deck to some Jimmy Buffett as the sun sets in the distance. This is the cottage to take you back to a simpler time!
This house is well stocked with items that many of the rentals do not include. The kitchen is fully stocked with enough dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, etc. to feed large family. My dad thought he was Emeril so you will find all kinds of gadgets in the kitchen drawers. We also have books, games, and movies scattered around in different drawers/places for you to borrow during your stay.
For all you movie buffs and sports enthusiasts, you can sit in the living room and enjoy movies or sports on the large HDTV complete with BlueRay DVD Player and surround sound. Look out the window and watch the ocean instead of the commercials!
Focus Broadband High Speed Wireless Internet with several streaming services are included. There is a flatscreen TV and Amazon Firestick in every bedroom.
Our family has been so spoiled by this beach house that to go anywhere else is a letdown. The location is perfect, you will feel a stress let down as you cross over the bridge to the island and transition to 'island time'.
Staying at the family friendly OIB is the BEST place to be, but if you long for some night life and outlet shopping, you are only a few minutes away. Myrtle Beach is only 20 - 30 minutes south, and Wilmington 45 minutes north on Hwy 17. Calabash is known for the best seafood in the nation and it is a mere 10 minutes away. If you want to catch a movie, you can head to North Myrtle Beach. Golfers, there are golf courses all around you. Adventurers you can head out to The Swamp Park on Airport Road to go on a guided ATV or Swamp boat tour or even Zip Line. Historic Southport, NC is only 35 minutes away. When we are sunburnt we forgo the beach and catch the Ferry at Southport to Fort Fisher. You will not run out of things to do.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Wash and put up dishes.
If you used a linen service, follow their instructions
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Do not move the furniture or the mattresses around. Our cleaner is a small woman and is not strong enough to move furniture back by herself.
Do not grill out under the house or on the porches. This is a town regulation.
Do not leave the windows open with the air conditioning or heat on. These freezes up the system and creates mold around the ductwork.

Our stay at the SeaWitch was wonderful. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, an updated and spacious kitchen, really comfortable new matresses and a perfect location! We’re already discussing another visit! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
We love this beach house with the entire living space on one level. It is always clean and the hosts are attentive and respond quickly to any needs or questions. The house has everything you need including very comfortable beds. Home away from home. Highly recommend!
Loved our stay! We did want to let you know the bathroom tub between the two queen rooms leaked thru the floor underneath the house abc the floor around it is very soft. Thank you for sharing your house with us!
This was our first stay at this beach house. We chose it because we needed an extra room for our growing family. The house has a cozy feel. We loved the room configuration and the proximity to downtown (a short, easy walk). It was a nice family beach, clean and safe for little children. The fireworks display was spectacular! Communication with the owners was prompt and clear. We'll definitely be back!
Clean place with great character. Perfect for families/kids. Close to everything. Beautiful deck area with lots of seating for relaxation after a day at the beach.
We spent a family reunion at this house and it was perfect for what we needed. It is right on the beach and has a beautiful deck perfect for any weather. The inside is clean, updated and spacious
Wonderful beachfront home perfect for our family of five. Relaxing on front porch in the rockers and eating at the picnic table while listening to the waves was one of our favorite spots to be! The home is well cared for, plenty of dishes and cooking items along with spices/other staples and cleaning supplies that were so helpful to have on hand. A few extra beach chairs and kids beach toys were also a bonus. Within a 1/2 to the pier and few beach stores/ restaurants , but yet quiet and peaceful at the house, the location was perfect. We’re grateful to Kim and Eric for sharing their home with us!
Great stay! We liked the place but thought it needed a good cleaning. (Dusty, heat/ac vents very dirty) beds where uncomfortable.

We are sorry that your stay did not warrant a five star review for we strive for that. We were at the house during the days prior to your arrival to do some work after the summer season and had to leave quickly a couple of days early due to a family medical emergency. We were unable to complete all of the tasks we had planned. We were able to change out the a/c filters, but didn’t have time to vacuum the vents. Our apologies if that decreased your satisfaction with your stay. As to the beds being uncomfortable, we have luxury memory foam toppers on all of the beds because our family prefers soft bedding, but we understand that some people prefer firm.
This house is perfect for relaxing. The owners are wonderful and personable to work with. We had everything we could ever need in the spacious and well laid out house. Best back porch around with plenty of chairs and rockers and I loved having breakfast at the picnic table every day. Beach was clean and not crowded. We absolutely loved our stay!

Thank you so much Marisol! Please come back and stay with us again.
This property was everything the owners said it would be. Perfect for our family. My 2 year old absolutely loved the big deck! The owners were beyond helpful and super nice. By day 2, our whole family agreed we would love to book this house again in the future!
Loved the property and location. Host is the best! Kim kept in touch throughout our short stay, because of hurricane Debby. Very very helpful and extremely understanding to our situation. I would definitely recommend this property!
This is our 2nd year staying at this house and we are already counting the days until our next vacation here.
The location/view is perfect. Steps from the beach and then the covered deck if you want to get out of the sun, etc.
We love the old school beach house vibe with the modern kitchen.
For us and our teenage sons it was PERFECT!
We love this house! This was our 2nd year staying here and can’t wait to book next years trip. The house is perfect. The hosts are great. The house is exactly what you see on the listing. You will not be disappointed!
8 adults and 2 children family stayed to celebrate TG together. The house is an older home filled with charm and so many extras. The first night an owl landed on the rail to greet us. All the sunrises and sunsets you could want . Would absolutely stay again.from the deck.

Our family lives in the central part of North Carolina but have been traveling to Ocean Isle Beach on weekends forever. My husband and I both retired from the public school system of NC and enjoy as many beach days as possible. We have three children, one graduated from UNC, owns an insurance business, and is married with three children, another graduated from UNCW as a math major, teaches math, and is married with three young children, and our youngest graduated from UNCW and WSSU, is an Occupational Therapist and is married with two young children and another on the way at then end of the summer. When we are all at the Seawitch you can be sure we will be having a crazy fun time with lots of laughter, sharing meals, late night card games, sunning and swimming. We love our family oriented beach house. We use those EIGHT grandchildren aged 2, 3, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 12 to test out the house for YOU, our renters, and boy do they put the Seawitch through her paces. If you rent with us you're guaranteed some quality family time. It may be a little crazy, but FUN!
Why they chose this property
This is a family beach house that has been in our family for AGES. We originally owned a house in the 1960s on the same lot, but wanted to update so we sold the older home, moved it, and built a "new" one on the lot in the late 70s. Since then the house has had several major remodels and upgrades. We've thought about doing that again and building a two story, but the house has so many memories and we like how the size of it pulls us together.
What makes this property unique
The very BEST thing about this beach house is its location. After staying ocean front in an area that is located on a part of the island that is not very crowded, we are spoiled. We like its location which is close to, but not in the middle of, other more crowded touristy places. So if we want laid back, we lay back, if we want to get in the middle of it, we go out to Myrtle Beach or Wilmington on an adventure. At least once a year, we grab the ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and have lunch at the Provisions Company and head to the Aquarium.
Oceanfront homes like ours are getting harder and harder to find, because they are being sold and moved in order to make way for larger multilevel homes. My husband and I are old enough to remember when most of the houses on Ocean Isle Beach were smaller cottages like ours. Those new large homes are very beautiful, but we enjoy the simplicity, the nostalgia, and the togetherness that our home brings. We think you will too.
