About this property
Ocean Front Home with Spectacular Views - Book your Fall Getaway Today!
Ocean Isle Beach has a lot going for it; it's the PERFECT beach and the Seawitch is front row! Situated close to golf courses, outlet malls, musical entertainment, great seafood, and some of the most spectacular sunsets this side of the Mississippi! Come spend a long weekend or summer week in our cozy cottage right on the water where you can sit on the front porch and watch the waves roll in.
This Ocean Front Cottage on OIB is located where the island is the least crowded but the pier, puttputt, shops and restaurants are a short walk away. It is an easy walk to the Friday night concerts in the park.
The 'Seawitch', aptly named, because that is what my grandmother said she looked like as she came up out of the water from a swim, is a beautiful, family oriented, lovingly cared for, cottage style OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY at Ocean Isle Beach, NC.
This five bedroom cottage has two bedrooms with one queen-sized bed each, two bedrooms with one queen and one double bed, and one bedroom with two double beds each for a total capacity of 16 plus a baby bed in one of the rooms. We do not offer linen service, but we recommend that if you want book linens to contact Angie's Linens at Ocean Isle Beach, NC at 910-575-2788. Book early they are only open M-F 8-6. Or cut your price by bringing your own bed linens and towels.
Each year we do renovations or improvements in the spring. We are constantly upgrading and replacing items to make sure that you have a wonderful experience. This year we bought five new hybrid medium firm mattresses and they are comfy. We do take our renters suggestions to heart when planning improvements for the next year, so please make any suggestions in our on site Guest Book. We would love for you to return year after year!
Built in 1979 with the 'old style' beach cottage in mind, the kitchen, dining area and the living room are in the middle and the bedrooms on the sides of the house. The cottage has three bathrooms upstairs, a outside enclosed shower downstairs, and a place to rinse off on the pier.
The real luxury of the house though is the front porch and deck area with its rocking chairs, picnic table, and loungers. Feel the ocean breezes flow over you as your cares slip away. No need to stake your claim by arriving to the beach in the early hours of the morning, as we are on a less crowded area of the beach, so you can just walk off our pier and set up your beach chairs whenever you are ready. Then, once you have had enough sun and fun for the day, run off the beach and straight up to your cottage, take a shower in the outside shower, and sit in a rocking chair until you dry off from your swim. The clothes line is usually seen with towels and bathing suits flapping in the wind.
Make yourself some 'Frogmore Stew', throw it out on some newspapers on the large dining room table and tell the kids to dig in. Hang up some party lights and dance on the deck to some Jimmy Buffett as the sun sets in the distance. This is the cottage to take you back to a simpler time!
This house is well stocked with items that many of the rentals do not include. The kitchen is fully stocked with enough dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, pans, etc. to feed large family. My dad thought he was Emeril so you will find all kinds of gadgets in the kitchen drawers. We also have books, games, and movies scattered around in different drawers/places for you to borrow during your stay.
For all you movie buffs and sports enthusiasts, you can sit in the living room and enjoy movies or sports on the large HDTV complete with BlueRay DVD Player and surround sound. Look out the window and watch the ocean instead of the commercials!
Focus Broadband High Speed Wireless Internet with a MERGE TV app are included. There is a flatscreen TV and Amazon Firestick in every bedroom.
Our family has been so spoiled by this beach house that to go anywhere else is a letdown. The location is perfect, you will feel a stress let down as you cross over the bridge to the island and transition to 'island time'.
Staying at the family friendly OIB is the BEST place to be, but if you long for some night life and outlet shopping, you are only a few minutes away. Myrtle Beach is only 20 - 30 minutes south, and Wilmington 45 minutes north on Hwy 17. Calabash is known for the best seafood in the nation and it is a mere 10 minutes away. If you want to catch a movie, you can head to North Myrtle Beach. Golfers, there are golf courses all around you. Adventurers you can head out to The Swamp Park on Airport Road to go on a guided ATV or Swamp boat tour or even Zip Line. Historic Southport, NC is only 35 minutes away. When we are sunburnt we forgo the beach and catch the Ferry at Southport to Fort Fisher. You will not run out of things to do.

About the host
Hosted by Eric Hall

Our family lives in the central part of North Carolina but have been traveling to Ocean Isle Beach on weekends forever. My husband and I both retired from the public school system of NC and enjoy as many beach days as possible. We have three children, one graduated from UNC, owns an insurance business, and is married with three children, another graduated from UNCW as a math major, teaches math, and is married with three young children, and our youngest graduated from UNCW and WSSU, is an Occupational Therapist and is married with two young children and another on the way at then end of the summer. When we are all at the Seawitch you can be sure we will be having a crazy fun time with lots of laughter, sharing meals, late night card games, sunning and swimming. We love our family oriented beach house. We use those EIGHT grandchildren aged 2, 3, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 12 to test out the house for YOU, our renters, and boy do they put the Seawitch through her paces. If you rent with us you're guaranteed some quality family time. It may be a little crazy, but FUN!
Why they chose this property
This is a family beach house that has been in our family for AGES. We originally owned a house in the 1960s on the same lot, but wanted to update so we sold the older home, moved it, and built a "new" one on the lot in the late 70s. Since then the house has had several major remodels and upgrades. We've thought about doing that again and building a two story, but the house has so many memories and we like how the size of it pulls us together.
What makes this property unique
The very BEST thing about this beach house is its location. After staying ocean front in an area that is located on a part of the island that is not very crowded, we are spoiled. We like its location which is close to, but not in the middle of, other more crowded touristy places. So if we want laid back, we lay back, if we want to get in the middle of it, we go out to Myrtle Beach or Wilmington on an adventure. At least once a year, we grab the ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and have lunch at the Provisions Company and head to the Aquarium.
Oceanfront homes like ours are getting harder and harder to find, because they are being sold and moved in order to make way for larger multilevel homes. My husband and I are old enough to remember when most of the houses on Ocean Isle Beach were smaller cottages like ours. Those new large homes are very beautiful, but we enjoy the simplicity, the nostalgia, and the togetherness that our home brings. We think you will too.
