About this property

Maine Waterfront Cottage: Nestled on an acre of land, with 500ft of shore front

Sea Lavender Cottage, located in Mid Coast Maine (right near the twin villages of Damariscotta and Newcastle), is ready for your enjoyment.

Sited within feet of Great Salt Bay, this recently "re-minted" cottage sports creative architectural touches, extensive cottage-focused style, and refreshing amenities. Features comfortable furnishings, updated bathrooms, as well as all new appliances and fixtures. The cottage's appearance and attitude invites and inspires relaxing engagement with all of nature's salt water activity on Great Salt Bay (Maine's first marine protected resource).

You will share this natural beauty with eagles, osprey, blue herons, loons, an occasional seal, prehistoric horseshoe crabs, oyster farms, and in the spring, over a million Alewives passing by the dock to spawn in nearby Damariscotta Lake––after climbing a classic 1500 foot fish ladder (first constructed in 1807), which is just a short walk down the road.

The very first Cottage guests said they come to Maine each summer to explore and discover all the unique activities of coastal Maine and its villages. Yet they found Sea Lavender Cottage so comfortable, joy filled , and emotionally fulfilling, they did not want to leave each day....except to launch kayaks and join the beauty of the Bay.

Now it is your turn...

The remodel of Sea Lavender Cottage was completed in 2016 and enjoys many returning guests each year to enjoy the many charms of Mid Coast Maine and the relaxing setting of Great Salt Bay. This property also features convenient access to US Route One (just a mile away) and is less than 5 minutes from twin villages of Damariscotta and Newcastle.

More Property Details:
The primary BR is extra large with a King bed and an ensuite bath which features an oversized, tiled, walk in shower. The second BR features a Queen bed (from Room and Board) and is directly across the hall to a full bath, complete with a tub and shower combination.

All 1800 square feet of living space are on the main floor. The 600 square feet finished lower level with full size picture windows and walk out access to the dock is fully furnished and includes lots of space for activities. An item frequently enjoyed is the full size pool table. One recent guest even set up a practice putting green!

Open a door off the living room and an adjustable awning covered second level deck above the shorefront with comfy cushioned furniture is there to enjoy any time of day. Frequently there is a stare down between Cottage guests sitting on the deck and a s/he Bald Eagle keeping watch on top of a very tall utility pole adjacent to her/his six foot wide nest with mate and fledgling high in a pine tree. A quick paddle in a kayak takes you to the island in the bay with these magnificent birds who stay put, even acting bored with each new set of eyes on them...

A perfect day at the Cottage is capped with an evening fire in the fire circle with the little kid in all of us enjoying deliciously crunchy and gooey S'mores.....

Maine Waterfront Cottage was perfect in all ways. The cottage was beautiful, no detail was left out. From the spectacular views to the spacious accommodations, it was the perfect retreat. So easy to get to town for great food and shopping. David was the perfect host, he went above and beyond, was so welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Loved it!!

This is a beautiful home. The views of the water are amazing. The property was clean and stocked. My children loved the home- they enjoyed the kayaks and the fire pit. David was great at responding quickly when we had questions before we arrived. When we walked in I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very light and the decor is cute. I would definitely stay here again.

We Hated To Leave

This cottage is so charming and comfortable and the water view is delightful. Dave is the perfect host, immediately attentive to any questions or problems. We also appreciated the cheese, wine and English muffins and coffee that he left for us. We managed to try most of his restaurant recommendations and they were spot on. Damariscotta is only a mike or so away with cute shops, good restaurants and a fabulous Hannaford’s Grocery. I hope we can return soon!

Peaceful Perfection

Sea Lavendar Cottage was as advertised and the reviews were 100% accurate. The property is beautiful. The house has everything you need and makes you feel like you're at home. David was a welcome smiling game at check-in and made sure we were set for a great trip. The welcome basket was much appreciated. You do not encounter individuals as welcoming as David very often anymore. The location is perfect - close to town with a secluded feel. The entire family (3 yr to 40 yrs) had a great stay.

Sea Lavender Cottage made our vacation a dream one

Our vacation at Sea Lavender Cottage in Maine was truly a dream come true. From the moment we booked until the time we checked out, every aspect of our experience was top-notch. The property itself is absolutely stunning with breathtaking views and impeccable accommodations. Every detail inside and outside of the cottage has been carefully thought out to provide guests with an unforgettable stay. Even on a rainy day, the cheerful interior of the cottage brightened up our spirits. It’s rare to find such a gem like this, but Sea Lavender Cottage exceeded all our expectations and made our vacation one that we will remember. The host is pleasure to interact with. Thank you for providing such an outstanding vacation experience!

Great Location!

The pictures do not do justice! From the moment we pulled up we were in awe at what a lovely house ! We recently stayed for 5 nights with our two children. We had a wonderful stay at the Sea Lavendar! David paid so much attention to detail when he and his wife decorated Sea Lavender. We enjoyed taking the kayak out in the bay where we were joined by two seals! What an amazing experience and right in the backyard! My son also enjoyed catching crabs from the deck. Also, in close proximity we enjoyed the Boothbay Botanical Garden and a whale watch. This home is in a great proximity to shopping, restaurants , activities, ocean and beautiful Damariscotta Lake. I would without hesitation recommend this home to couples and families alike.

Welcoming Oasis

From the first moment Dave, the property host, personally met us and showed us around, you just knew you were in for a special stay. Dave welcomed us with a gift basket filled with goodies and a nice bottle of wine. But you could see immediately the property was the star of the show! The cottage was decorated with very relaxing colors and comfortable furniture and very whimsical pieces of art that just make you smile. Than you step outside onto the deck and see why this is an oasis of wildlife…..Bald eagles, ducks, Canadian geese, blue herons and other marine life. The view is unobstructed and what a view it is! Whether watching from the deck or trying the kayaks that are available, you won’t be disappointed. I would definitely recommend this property for all to come and relax.

Relaxing family vacation in mid-Coast Maine

They say you can't go home again, but if you're a native returning to Maine (like us), you can come pretty close to it by staying at the Sea Lavender Cottage! We were four adults and an infant and there was plenty of room inside and outside. The Cottage is exceedingly clean and tastefully furnished and decorated. The views from the deck are stunning and we spent a lot of time with the provided binoculars watching the antics of the wildlife on the tidal river. We also used the kayaks to explore much the area. The Cottage is located nearby to the very charming town of Damariscotta. That region of state offers many nice attractions for coastal day trips.David is an exceptional and kind host. He made sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. He gave us a quick tour of the property when we checked in and offered helpful tips for our visit. When we left, he was interested in any feedback regarding our stay. We hope to stay there again.

Wonderful host, wonderful views

House is clean and comfortable with everything in working order. We lacked for nothing and enjoyed the small touches, such as the in-person welcome from David and the goodies he left for us. We spent time relaxing and taking in the beautiful view, as well as kayaking and light hiking in the area. We'd definitely recommend this property!

Perfection

We loved our stay at this cottage. It had a beautiful waterfront, location, with bright big windows and a gorgeous view from everyone. The decor and comfort of the home is the best we’ve ever stayed in. There are many luxuries to enjoy and comforts everywhere you turn. The owner, David, is very accommodating and even offered us an early check-in and a late check out so we could extend our stay. He was gracious and helpful, but also respected our privacy. A nice touch was every morning when we woke up, the driveway had been freshly salted. A wonderful experience and I would highly recommend.
