Mountain Queen Cabin
Eshay’s cabin in the midst of Hammond State Forest was perfect for our anniversary getaway. It had all the amenities we wanted, along with a rustic vibe which we loved. The front porch was delightful with the morning sunrise and the evening moonrise, plus sweeping views of the forested mountains. It is a very peaceful setting with no traffic or people noise, only birds singing and the rustling of tree leaves in the breeze. There is also a nature preserve trail and a multitude of hiking/biking trails within walking distance of the cabin which we enjoyed. I would definitely stay at The Mountain Queen again. Thanks Eshay!

Relaxing retreat
I’m grateful to Eshay for allowing us to stay at her lovely cabin. We had such a great and relaxing time. It has everything you need to stay for a while and it’s in a beautiful quiet location. Eshay is a very hospitable host. The hot tub and fire pit were great and we even caught some incredible lightning while we were there. It was delightful.

About the host

Hosted by Eshay Rausch

Host profile image
Eshay has spent her life designing inclusive program for adults and children to connect them with nature. In 2002 she purchased a beautiful parcel of land (aka Camp Earth Connection & Eshay's Cabins) adjacent to the Hammond Hill Forest, near Ithaca, NY and had her own cabin/home and created her own children's summer camps to bring children from urban areas and from disenfranchised communities to the country to connect them with nature.

Camp Earth Connection is committed to Diversity, Acceptance and Community. In 2010 Eshay initiated the first Healing Hearts Women's Retreat on this sacred land. In 2015 Eshay was inspired to create small woodland campground on the land. The campground is designed to give each guest privacy and the opportunity to experience nature in its wildest setting. A variety of camping options are available. Camp Earth Connection is adjacent to the Hammond Hill State Park adjacent to 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing.

Why they chose this property

Camp Earth Connection, my home is located in a beautiful forest setting. If you love being outdoors, and enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature you will love these properties. Also unique, is that the entire facility is alcohol and drug free. I believe this land offers a sacred place to rejuvenate, rest, heal and have fun.
For fun there are 20 miles of forest trails for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. You will also see horses on the trails. Just 20 minutes from the cabin is Greek Peak ski resort for down hill skiing. After a long day skiing or biking, enjoy the two person hot-tub on the porch. Ithaca is also just 20 minutes away, and offers three state parks with beautiful gorges, falls and trails. Wonderful eateries are nearby including the famous Moosewood restaurant.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the beautiful views surrounding the cabin. The trails are amazing - as a past cross country trail runner and avid hiker/walker, I have enjoyed exploring all of them over the years, and they never cease to bring me joy and peace. Wildlife is abundant due to the diverse forest. From barred owls, to coyotes, to glow worms and fireflies- this is a nature lovers paradise. For folks who appreciate a sober environment, they will enjoy all of the facilities which are alcohol and drug free.
