Panoramic Oceanfront Views Abound! Two Bedroom Condo, Fifth Floor

As soon as you enter this 5th floor Hilton Head oceanfront villa you'll be greeted by sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The entire villa has been updated with new wood flooring.

The Kitchen is to the left as you enter and comes fully-equipped to meet the needs of your family or group. Beyond the Kitchen is the Dining Area with seating for six. The Living Room features all new furniture, a flat screen TV and slider access to your private oceanfront balcony. The Primary Bedroom consists of a King bed, flat screen TV and en-suite Primary Bathroom. The en-suite Primary Bath has a tiled tub and shower combination. The Second Bedroom consists of one Double Bed as well as a Day Bed, flat screen TV and its own en-suite bathroom. The bathroom also features a tiled tub and shower combination.

On the Private Oceanfront Balcony there is a table and chairs with seating for five guests. This straight-ahead view of the Atlantic Ocean is one of the very few on the island and is highly sought after. Captain's Walk is located across the street from several amenities such as the George Fazio golf course and within easy walking distance to the General Store, Outfitters Bike and Kayak shop, Robert Trent Jones Golf Course and the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center.

You could easily walk back to your vila or to the pool for restroom use while on the beach. The beach was huge when low tide.

The views from our unit were the best we've ever experienced on Hilton Head and the proximity to the ocean was the best yet and we've been coming to Hilton Head for 20+ years. Unit was updated beautifully, ceiling fans in every room, didn't want for anything, so clean and inviting. So thankful I found this unit and it was available, would not hesitate to recommend and will re-rent in the near future.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unit is on 5th floor of Captains Walk which is beachfront and great views of beach and ocean. Unit has remodeled bathrooms - building permit was still in windows. The furniture is old, and in particular the mattresses in both bedrooms - concaved so difficult to find good sleeping position. Did not sleep well. Patio furniture is counter height table and 4 chairs - very uncomfortable chairs.

Needs-Improvement

The guest beds absolutely need to be replaced. They are TERRIBLE. There was a constant odor in the master bedroom, so much so a fan was running when we first entered and we had to have it running 24x7. TERRIBLE!!! There were holes all over the walls and peeling paint in multiple places. The sofas and chairs in the living area were so soft you felt as though you were sitting on the floor. They all need to be replaced. Once again TERRIBLE!!! The clothes dryer looked and sounded like it was 25 years old. It was so loud you couldn't have it running and relax in front of the TV at the same time. TERRIBLE!!!! As you can see, this place needs A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT. I WOULD NEVER EVER RENT THIS UNIT AGAIN AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOONE RENT IT. If this is any indication of the rental units available at Palmeto Dunes, well, you can guess whether we will rent here again.

Hubby's Birthday Stay

Caulking on tubs needs replacing. Dryer worked but had huge pieces of enamel missing on top and inside. Wallpaper in guest bathroom was torn. No hooks on bathroom doors to hang towels, hooks were removed and hokes plugged. Nice blinds in living room but poor job repairing where drapes were removed. Floor titles cracked in master. Lots of dents and scuffs on walls throughout. We've stayed at Palmetto Dunes many times and we were disappointed with this unit, it was definitely below standards.

Awesome ocean view

The units kitchen and living area was fine. The bathrooms and bedrooms are in a definite need of improvement. I think the bathrooms are original and this unit is quite old. Make sure you bring a rubber bath mat because the tub is slippery. I happily would return just for the view.

Floors and furniture in great shape.

Wonderful property, dirty and dingy unit

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Loved the Captains Walk property. Well maintained grounds and beautiful location right next to the beach. This unit, however, needs a lot of work. Besides some recent upgrades for appliances in the kitchen, the unit looks very old and tired. Bathrooms were depressing and in desperate need of updating. Kitchen is also very old as was all the furniture. Unit also was dirty and I think that AC unit needs cleaning as I had allergies the entire visit due to what I suspect was dirty air blowing from the AC vent. There is black mold on the outside of several AC vents too. Very nice view from the top floor but that’s about the nicest thing I can say about this unit.

Nice views, lackluster decor and a bonus mouse

I wasn't expecting it to be SO dated, however: dusty decor, cracked tiles, stained grout, dingy and rusted fixtures, scratchy bedding, non-working lights. Plus, on our last night, a mouse got to our pizza box. I'd sacrifice the view for sure, or pay extra for a nicer place.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Condo complex spectacular, however the rental unit 428 is in desperate need of an update. Kitchen cabinets, countertop, appliances all worn, have broken pieces (especially the dishwasher) lots of pans, utensils missing. Bathrooms dirty, not from lack of housekeeping, but just because tile so old, broken, cracked, outdated, etc. Couches and rugs in living room stained. The view from this condo is the best, direct oceanview, but the run down condition of the individual unit is concerning. We stayed in this unit 2 years ago and I expressed the same concerns at that time. I was hopeful it had been renovated but sadly had not.We will definitely stay at Captain's Walk in the future, but most likely will opt for a different unit unless this one is remodeled.

Of the five condos that our family rented in the area, ours was the least updated, but it was also the cheapest to rent. We would have been 100% happy if we hadn't compared our condo with the others. That being said, it was perfectly fine for the price, and the view of the ocean was amazing from our deck. I would rent the unit again if the price continues to be less than other updated condos.
