This spacious 3 bedroom/4 bathroom home is located on 2 private acres adjacent to Arenal Volcano State Park. Each bedroom has its own terrace with spectacular views of Arenal Volcano and Arenal Lake. The open layout allows cool mountain breezes to flow through the home. Enjoy leisure activity in our bar/game room and cool off in our swimming pool or relax in the hot tub with direct views of the last active face of the volcano. Ideal for groups/families (sleeps 6-12 people). Enjoy meals cooked by our personal chef (available on request) or prepare your own culinary creation in our fully equipped gourmet kitchen. Additional cleaning service and laundry services are available on request.

Located within minutes of El Castillo, Sky Trek Zip-Line Canopy Tours, Kayaking and ATV rentals. Horseback tours to the waterfalls or fishing tours on the lake or Rio Frio can be arranged. Hot Springs and La Fortuna are just 20-30 minutes away. An escape from the daily stress of work for a week in paradise will rejuvenate your soul and reconnect you with what life is meant to be.

The property is adjacent to virgin cloud forest. Explore miles of hiking trails through the rain forest that lead down to the nearby Rio Piedras Negras. Howler monkeys, toucans, wild turkeys, parrots, coati mundis (aka pizotes), tayras and more can be regularly spotted from the house and in the vicinity.

What a great place to stay! The host Jim replied instantly to all my questions. Great views, great host, great pool and hot tub. My family will remember this place forever. Thanks Jim, you have a great place and you are an even better host. I highly recommend Jim's place to anyone looking to spend time in La Fortuna. Very close to Sky adventures with ziplining and a nice restaurant with great views. The wildlife in the backyard was great along with fabulous views from every room in the house.

Absolutely stunning views, gorgeous property! The owner and manager, Stephanie are attentive and definitely do their best to assist. The stove wasn’t functional and the owner replaced it as fast as he could, even paid for our dinner the night it was being installed. It’s quite a ways from town but the views make it worth it. The house is mostly good, kitchen needs a lot of updating (besides the oven) and laundry is basically only available by prior arrangement with Stephanie (washing machine is a manuel. ) it’s worth it if you want fantastic views and can handle a few old school inconveniences.

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Ceiba in El Castillo. The view of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal is absolutely incredible—easily the highlight of the property. We spent so much time enjoying the outdoor space, especially the pool and hot tub, which were perfect after long days of exploring.The house itself was very comfortable and well maintained. The A/C worked great (which we definitely appreciated), and everything was clean and easy to use. The location felt private and peaceful, but still close enough to La Fortuna for activities.Overall, this was a perfect home base for our trip. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

This property was perfect for our group of 5. Lots of room. Had everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were nice to have after a long day of sight seeing. Check in was easy. If we had any questions, our host Jim, was easy to reach. Stephanie, who lives nearby and takes care of the property was also available if we needed anything. Definitely recommend renting a 4x4 as some of the roads can be challenging but that just added to the adventure! There are both grocery stores and restaurants close by. The town of La Fortuna was not too far away. Saw lots of Toucans around the property as well as numerous other birds. There was even a big frog on the grounds we saw each night. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others. Would love to come back one day!

It was a great fit for our family. Beautiful view and we were able to see Toucans. Walking distance to a cute little restaurant. Neighbors were very friendly and helpful. Host was super helpful with suggestions of where to get groceries, food and with excursions. My only suggestion is to make sure you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle.

The house was simply amazing and our host was helpful, communicative and went above and beyond to ensure a good stay. The photos do not do justice to the inside of the home and it's cleanliness. The location is remote enough that you feel like a local and can get out of the crowds and hustle or La Fortuna, but close enough to get to activities in a timely manner. The home was well stocked with clean towels and bedding and the rooms and amenities were just as described, yet better!I cannot recommend this property enough. We were only a family of three but could easily have invited several friends. Perfect for large families!

Great property and location

My wife and I stayed here with my parents and my brother and the space was perfect for us. The pool and hot tub were great and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The road up the hill to the property can seem a little intimidating at first but it's really not bad at all. The location is nice and secluded and close enough to La Fortuna without being too far. Overall we loved our stay here

Beautiful views of the lake and surrounding area. The property was well maintained and very safe. It had a well stocked kitchen and plenty of towels for showers and poolside. Plenty of room for gathering inside and out. The pool and hot tub was a welcomed addition. Private balconies for each bedroom. It was absolutely amazing!

From left to right: Jim, Wes, Josie, Robin. Our family first visited Costa Rica in 2010 and fell in love with the Arenal area. Two years later, we spent our first week in the new house. Jim and Robin are retired and split our time between our US residence and Costa Rica.

Why they chose this property

You'll hear many stories about people that visit Costa Rica and experience an epiphany or an awakening. That's what happened to us. We began searching for land in Aug 2010 and found the Old Ceiba Tree lot and we completed construction in the Fall of 2012. There is an energy that one can feel when you are there; it's indescribable but undeniable. Once you experience it, you'll be going back over and over.

What makes this property unique

We designed the home to bring the outdoors and indoors together. There are floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors that open to lake and volacano views. The cool mountain breezes flow thoughout the home. The temperatures average about 75°F year round so no air conditioning is necessary (but optionally available in the bedrooms). We get our pure crystal clear soft water from a mountain spring ('naciente') that is about 6km in the virgin cloud forest. At night the temperatures typically drop about 10° and in December and January you might even need to put a fleece on to stay warm. Being on the edge of the rain forest, we get a lot of rain but if you wait an hour the weather will change and when the sun pops out be careful because you can get a sunburn even when the sky is overcast (ask Josie). Each room has a terrace facing the lake/volcano side of the house. Be prepared to rise early to the sounds of howler monkeys that frequently spend the night in our guarumo tree (a favorite hangout for all kinds of monkeys and birds) or the cacaphony of loras (red-lored parrots) that reside in the area.
