Built toward the end of the 19th century, this one-bedroom, one and one half-bath property is as rich in history as it is charm. Once the home of Mrs. Wilkes, proprietress of the famous Boarding House and still-operational Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, this parlor-level condo offers a unique stay for up to four Lucky guests. Wake up every morning to beautiful Jones Street, where cobblestones and ancient oak trees dripping in spanish moss compelled Southern Living Magazine to name it the “Prettiest Street in America.”

The original hardwood floors and 12’ ceilings and tasteful interior decor make this home-away-from-home warm and inviting. The large living area has a flat screen TV and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. Pocket doors separate the parlor from the dining room, which has seating for four. The galley-style kitchen is fully equipped with all you’ll need for a weekend getaway or extended stay. The large, elegant bedroom has a king-sized bed with soft, luxurious bedding.

The Wilkes House is an ideal location to call home while exploring the varied sights and activities around the Historic District. Located in the middle of our bustling Design District, stylish shops dot the streets among several historic homes open for touring, including the Mercer Williams House and the childhood home of Flannery O’Connor. With a three night or longer say, you’ll receive one free lunch for two at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, where you’ll dine like a local and feel like family!

Parking for this home is on-street and metered, which is enforced by the City of Savannah from Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Guests may conveniently pay using the ParkSavannah app, feed the meter or parking kiosks directly, or park on a nearby non-metered street. Please take note of posted Sweep Zone signs when parking on the street.

*Guests receive one free lunch for two with every three-night or more booking. The restaurant is typically closed for the month of January. Please contact the Mrs. Wilkes Restaurant directly regarding open and seasonal hours as these may vary. In the event of restaurant closure, we are unable to offer refunds but guests are welcome to use the lunch voucher on your next visit!

My daughter and I had a fantastic stay for a recent long weekend girls trip. Easy and walkable to all things historic Savannah. Jones Street is idyllic and charming. The lodging itself was clean, classy and comfortable. Communication was extraordinary and we were able to store luggage after checkout for another day of strolling prior to our late flight. Cherry on top was lunch at Mrs. Wilkes, the peach cobbler was incredible. Highly recommend!

Great one bedroom large spacious with vintage furniture. Beautiful street. Quiet. We love this place. Only downside is the kitchens a little small and funky. But who cares about that when you’re in Savannah with all the great restaurants.

High ceilings, comfortable chairs and couches and well lit...added bonus of the yummy kitchen smells from Mrs Wilkes below! The apartment is within walking distance of everything and parking is fairly easy to navigate. We did get a ticket for street sweeping but it was really our own fault for not interpreting the sign properly - LOL. Overall this place was wonderful and I would definitely stay again.

Great week in Savannah

This was our first time staying in a VRBO versus a hotel and it was the best decision. Great accommodations located in a perfect part of the city. The property is close to activities downtown, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful for evening walks or drinks on the front steps. House had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay, and the team at Lucky Savannah were fantastic at communicating check in and check out information. We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful rooms in the heart of lovely Savannah. The location on Jones Street (an official “prettiest” street in America) was a perfect base to walk and explore from. And the delicious lunch from the famed Mrs Wilkes Restaurant was the cherry on top! Don’t miss this southern gem!

We had a wonderful stay and the Wilkes house was perfect place! Jones street is beautiful and the visit to Savannah was better than we could imagine! Some attention to the tub faucet is needed as the fridge door seal needs a bleaching as it has molded.

Wonderful experience for our 63rd anniversary!

The accommodations were perfect! We loved the history and the original furnishings. It was comfortable and met all our needs. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and it was all very clean. Lunch at Mrs. Wilks was amazing. The best chicken and fried okra I have tasted since my mother's cooking long ago....and the Wilks family members hosting were so friendly and full of information. The location was perfect to walk everywhere. We just loved it all and hated for it to be over!
