Tuckaseegee Riverfront Cabin. Trout fishing, Tubing, Firepit, Near Sylva

RiverSong Retreat on the Tuckaseegee

Wake up to the gentle sound of the river flowing past your backyard. Sip coffee on the porch as morning mist rises from the water. Cast a fly rod from the riverbank, spend the afternoon floating downstream, then gather around the firepit beneath a sky full of stars.

Discover a private riverfront escape nestled on 1.2 beautifully landscaped acres along the Tuckaseegee River in the heart of Western North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. Here, the sounds of the river replace traffic, schedules, and everyday distractions.

Enjoy the feeling of being miles away from everything while remaining less than 10 minutes from historic downtown Sylva, Western Carolina University, restaurants, breweries, shopping, grocery stores, and everyday conveniences.

Guests often tell us they planned to spend their vacation exploring the mountains, only to discover that their favorite moments happened right here by the river.

THE RIVER EXPERIENCE
The Tuckaseegee River is the centerpiece of the property and the reason many guests return year after year.

Bring your fly rod and fish for trout just steps from the house. During stocking season, anglers often catch trout directly from the backyard.

On warm summer days, launch a tube upstream and float back to the house, or begin at the property and enjoy a leisurely one-hour float to the Locust Creek access area approximately one-half mile downstream. Wade in the shallow water, skip rocks with the kids, watch for herons, hawks, and wildlife, or simply settle into an Adirondack chair beneath the trees and listen to the soothing sounds of the river.

Many guests arrive with plans to explore every day and soon find themselves lingering a little longer by the water, watching the sunlight dance across the river and wondering why they don't do this more often.

OUTDOOR LIVING
This is where mountain memories are made.
Start the day with coffee on one of two covered porches. Watch the river drift by. Listen to birdsong echo through the trees. Spend the afternoon tubing, fishing, hiking, waterfall chasing, or doing absolutely nothing at all.

As evening approaches, fire up the grill, gather around the riverside firepit, and watch the stars emerge above the mountains. The expansive lawn offers plenty of room for children to play, yard games, family gatherings, and outdoor dining.

The river provides a constant backdrop of soothing natural sounds, making it easy to slow down, breathe deeply, and settle into mountain time.

We had a wonderful stay. Location was very convenient for our needs. Beds were comfy and the host was very kind. The price is high and we had to handle our own trash, but those were the only negatives.

Great spot on the Tuckasegee

Such a beautiful and peaceful home on the river. Our family enjoyed a weekend stay while in the area for a performance at Bardo Arts Center. This comfortable home is close to town, yet secluded. Home is clean, beds are great and the kitchen is well equipped should you choose to eat in. The downtown area of Sylva is lovely, with several shops to explore and many restaurants to choose from. Our host Becky was very accommodating and responsive. All in all, an excellent stay. Thank you Becky!

We had a blast. The house was exactly as advertised. Becky, our host, communicated fabulously. We picked this house because it was on the river. My kids love nature, fishing, swimming, etc. It was so peaceful at the property, yet we were within 10 minutes of anything and everything we could possibly need. My daughter was at a camp at WCU, so we were very close to her if she needed us. From the house, we also went to the Biltmore and Sliding Rock. They were both easily accessible for day trips. When at the house, we fished, floated the river, used the fire pit, played games, etc. We had a great week.

Concered

My husband is a maintenance engineer and he turned the heat down to like 66/67 and apparently they could control it with their phone and she turned it up to 74 at first and then back down to 71 and she was concerned that the air conditioner would freeze up, but my husband knew how to control it and he was turning it down and then he was gonna turn it back up, but we were not allowed. That’s really the only concern that I have other than that she was great. The place was great, but my husband and father was hot.

Hi Lisa, thanks for your feedback. We did have hot weather while you were there. The indoor temperature is kept at a default of 76 and guests are certainly welcome to adjust it. Upon arrival, someone in your party set the ac at 60 which will not cool to that temperature and can freeze the ac causing problems. The thermostat was set at 69 for the duration of your stay which was a good 15 to 20 degrees cooler than the high daytime temps. I’m sorry your family members were too warm. I truly strive to create a comfortable and welcoming experience for every one of my guests. Becky

We loved staying at this house and will book it again. The place is absolutely gorgeous inside and out with a great location. The house is surrounded by nature in this beautiful mountain landscape right by the river, but it’s also only 10-15 minutes from anywhere in Sylva or Cullowhee. The main highlight for us was the backyard with the easy access to the river and the amazing fire pit. Bonus: The shed was fully stocked with tubes which was super convenient. The house is also very cute, clean, and well maintained. The dining room, living room, and kitchen are great for our group. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all clean and cozy. We had a great time and Becky was super sweet and welcoming via messaging throughout the entire trip.
