Cozy, heated 2-bedroom barn in peaceful Brooksville
Looking for a cozy stay when you come to the Blue Hill Peninsula to see foliage? Peak season is projected for the first two weeks of October. Equipped with efficient radiators, your fully-heated getaway awaits in Brooksville at this quaint, post-and-beam barn. There are two bedrooms - one king and one queen bed with memory foam mattresses, bamboo sheets, comforters, wool blankets, and down pillows. The two bathrooms are each equipped with dual rain-head / handheld shower fixtures and a bidet. The downstairs bathroom also has dual sinks.
Upstairs, this peaceful retreat offers a fully equipped, large gourmet kitchen, dining room & living room space, and a second full bathroom, all overlooking a meadow & water views with an additional memory foam queen, Murphy bed. The deck & building face west so prepare yourself for beautiful sunsets!
The barn is located on the same 13-acre property as the "Massachusetts House", one of the oldest homes in Brooksville. Our property has a large meadow leading to private frontage in Lord's Cove on the Bagaduce River. The barn has an elevated deck and outdoor table overlooking the whole property.
Nearby activities include hiking, kayaking, and biking in this pastoral area. We encourage you to check out the various sanctuaries on the peninsula and the Dead River Trailhead in Orland is worth the trip.
If you seek to enjoy the local food scene, Tinderhearth, one of the New York Times' "restaurants they are most excited about" in 2024 is approximately 1/2 a mile away. Northern Bay Market in Penobscot offers a great service - they steam lobsters for you to take home. The Blue Hill Co-op is great for local products.
If you must work, we have blazing fast WIFI, powered by fiber-optics to the property.
Experience the magic of Brooksville at our charming barn.

Thank you so much for your positive review, Penny! We are delighted that you enjoyed the views and found barn comfortable. We will be happy to welcome you back any time.
Fantastic well appointed barn in peaceful Brooksville. Hosts were communicative and helpful and the place is exactly as described. Brooksville is a good jumping off point to explore Blue Hill and Deer Island, though it is a decent drive on small winding country roads to explore the area so be aware of that when booking. Otherwise, everything was fantastic!

Thank you so much for your review! We’ve worked hard to be sure that our renovated post and beam barn is well appointed and that we provide the level of communication and hospitality that we would expect to receive.
Our area is definitely rural - and most drives are on winding, two-lane roads. I’m glad you were able to get out and explore the area!
Inside and outside of property was outstanding. I enjoyed my morning coffee on a beautiful sunny deck watching my son and his dog walking across the very large field and down to the water. The beds were really comfortable. The bathrooms, one on each level, were all one could want. Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful. We were absolutely pleased with this private accommodation

Thank you for the wonderful review, Carol Ann. We selected the beds and bedding with care because we think a good night’s sleep is so important - especially when on vacation. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and love that your son and his dog enjoyed the meadow on the way to the water. Please consider us when you return to the peninsula.
Our trip to Maine was amazing. Our stay here in this barn everything we hoped. They had anything you would need available if you forgot something. Did not need or want for anything. Landlords were full of information at check in and very courteous. Told us about all the good places to eat and shop. Would definitely recommend staying here when visiting Maine.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Brooksville. The property is beautiful and quiet, but close to local hikes. The beds were super comfortable and we loved the chefs kitchen, which is actually appointed so you can make meals easily. The property was very clean and the WiFi fast (we had to work remotely one day). Host was easy to communicate with and flexible when we needed to alter checkout. We will definitely be back when it is warmer, the path to the water would be wonderful then

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back any time.
We had a relaxing stay, the barn was just perfect. Dave and Meg greated us when we arrived and gave us the tour, and some helpful tips. There was a patch of rhubarb which Meg said help yourselves, which I did and made a strawberry rhubarb pie in the wonderful kitchen. The kitchen had all that we needed, a great chef's kitchen. And all 4 of us loved the super comfy mattresses. And I have to say a few of us loved having the bidet toilets, a plus. It was a super beautiful property, and a very friendly helpful host & hostess. We felt right at home!

Hi April,
Thank you for the glowing review. We are so glad that your stay was relaxing and that you rested well.
Kind regards,
Emily
Emily and her family have created a wonderful space in the converted barn next to her parent's house. The accomodation is very clean and comfortable with great appliances and a kitchen that has been outfitted by someone who enjoys cooking. There are many thoughtful extras including great coffee and many condiments. The furnishings are very new and designed for functionality and comfort as well as looks. The location is quiet and peaceful and an easy drive to Blue Hill, Deer Isle and Castine. The property has frontage on the tidal Bagaduce River, which is a nice walk through a hayfield filled with wild flowers. The sunsets from the balcony are lovely.

We like to keep some staples on hand for our guests. I love to cook and outfitted the kitchen to do so with ease.
The wildflowers in the meadow are lovely and I hope you were able to watch some birds while you passed.

Absolutely perfect coastal retreat! We loved our stay in this cozy, heated two-bedroom barn in peaceful Brooksville. The setting is serene, with breathtaking sunsets, star-filled night skies, and quiet mornings that make it easy to unwind and unplug. The barn itself is beautifully designed — warm, modern, and inviting. The upstairs feels luxurious yet relaxed, the bed is incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen is both stunning and functional. Great showers too!Our host was kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about the area. Dave even gave us a tour of the space and shared insider tips on where to explore and eat nearby. We loved discovering new local favorites in Blue Hill — amazing food, drinks, and coastal charm (and yes, plenty of lobstah (recommend the call ahead options to enjoy from the comfort of your place with breathtaking sunset backyard views!).Don’t miss exploring the shore at low tide and stargazing when the lights go out — truly magical experiences. This spot is the perfect coastal getaway for anyone looking to relax, recharge, and soak in Maine’s natural beauty.

Thank you so much for your review, Sarah. We also love exploring the shoreline at low tide, stargazing, and all the natural beauty around us in Maine.
We’re so pleased that you were able to recharge. We want all of our guests to enjoy the comfort and serenity of our coastal barn and the delights of the Blue Hill peninsula. We’re happy to welcome you back any time!
My husband and I both grew up in northern Vermont. This property is our dream for an eventual retirement, though that is many years away. Our family has vacationed in Maine since I was a child and I have loved it since then. My parents live on the property full-time and will be contacts for day-to-day, though I am also available via cell phone.
Why they chose this property
Peaceful & pastoral. The view is amazing. There are tons of wildlife that you can watch in the meadow leading to the water.
What makes this property unique
The gourmet kitchen in our rental is fantastic and we have tried to outfit it with everything needed to make just about anything you desire.
