About this property

Historic Edge of the River, Adirondacks

Edge of the River is located on the bank of the beautiful Boquet River in the heart of the Adirondacks. This is the perfect location to start your ADK adventures or just stay home and enjoy the peace and solitude of the river.

Dating back to 1776, this historic home blends character and charm with all the comforts of a modern home. Decorated in elevated "camp style" it is filled with unique items, vintage finds, original local art and comfortable cozy beds.

This is a warm and inviting home designed to make lasting memories with family and friends. Use the amazing chef's kitchen to create wonderful meals at home. Get the entire family involved around the large island. Fully equipped with everything you need. Guests love our comfortable mattresses and cozy bedding. The inside is great but the outdoor space steals the show. There is a firepit with 6 Adirondack chairs for s'mores or fondue. Summer will find you swimming in the river or lounging on the rock beach. Evenings are spent around the large dining room table playing cards or one of the many games available. Our family has epic Mexican Train evenings. The large patio has seating and tables for alfresco dining. If getting out in nature is your thing, the Adirondacks do not disappoint. There are hikes for all skill levels, charming towns to explore and memories to be made. It is truly one of the most beautiful places to visit. Rent a boat or kayak and explore the vast and one of a kind Lake Champlain. Don't forget the winter season, Whiteface Mountain is just 23 miles and less than an hour away. If skiing and boarding are your thing you will love Whiteface. Take the ferry over to Vermont and explore Stowe or Killington.

Willsboro offers a public golf course, public tennis and pickleball courts, lots of hiking, a boat launch to Lake Champlain and so much more. Nearby Westport Marina offers boat and kayak rentals.

Less than 10 minutes to the Vermont ferry (Essex to Charlotte). You can take the ferry (which is totally fun to do) and explore Burlington Vermont which is just on the other side of Lake Champlain.

Conveniently located 15 minutes from the Northway (Rt 87 Exit 32).

There is a public EV charger walking distance to the house at the Willsboro Visitors Center.

We loved our stay at The Edge of the River! The view was breathtaking and the house was amazing. Our girls loved their gigantic bedroom, biking in the driveway, and tubing and swimming in the river. Our son enjoyed catching crayfish and throwing rocks. My husband loved fishing at a dam that was just down the road. The section of the backyard that was partially fenced in was super helpful for the safety of our dogs, keeping them away from the road. The house had all of the charm in the description and our hosts were so responsive. We had a wonderful vacation and we were sad to leave!

This home is beautiful! Kitchen is well stocked, the guide tells all you need to know and what you need to bring. The dining room was by far my favorite place to gather for meals and also to play cards and other games! We had loads of fun. The different seating areas around the house had perfect spots to have coffee, read a book, watch a movie. Beds were very comfortable. Grounds are spectacular!

We didn't have pets.Kitchen sas VERY well stocked. Even some staples in the fridge.A great little market close by with lots of produce and meat and bakery options. The beds were extremely comfortable. We even had a charcoal grill for our use.I almost rolled my ankle and I stubbed my toe. Maybe it's just me! Lol There is a small step into the kitchen area. But we all very much enjoyed our stay and the host responded quickly.

Everything about the house is great, you could just hang out there and enjoy the spectacular river view, grill, have a campfire and spend quality time with whoever you go with. We loved the location and the house was decorated beautifully and it had everything you would need from fire building materials to a sewing kit. A great vacation rental experience, probably one of the best we’ve ever stayed at. Couldn’t recommend more, worst part was having to say goodbye!
