About this property

Lake Cushman Cabin: 1-Min Walk to 2 Lakes, Sleeps 10, 2.5 baths, Wi-Fi, Dogs OK!

Escape to Your Lake Cushman Retreat – A Perfect Blend of Comfort and Adventure

Located in a peaceful private community, this spacious 1,800 sq ft, four-bedroom, 2.5 bath cabin is the ultimate Olympic Peninsula getaway. Featuring a beautiful lake view of Lake Cushman right from the cabin, this meticulously updated home blends modern convenience with rustic mountain charm, making it perfect for both quiet remote-work oasis seekers and action-packed group vacations.

The Ultimate Outdoor Living Space
Maximize your time in the fresh Pacific Northwest air. Our backyard is designed for gathering and relaxation, featuring a large stone patio that serves as the centerpiece for outdoor entertainment. Gather around the fire pit for evening smores, or serve up a feast at our expansive outdoor picnic table that comfortably seats up to 10 guests.

Three Lakes & Exclusive Community Amenities
You are perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the Lake Cushman community. Just a 1-minute walk from the cabin, you will find both Lake Cushman and Lake Standstill. A short 4-minute drive takes you to Lake Kokanee. Beyond the water, your stay includes access to fantastic community features:

Lake Cushman Golf Course: Enjoy a scenic, well-maintained 9-hole golf course nestled in the forested mountains.

Disc Golf: Challenge your group on the community's 18-hole disc-golf course.

Family Parks & Playgrounds: Let the kids burn off energy at the Lake Kokanee Park play area (4 minutes away) or the expansive Division 1 Park (a 20-minute drive, but still within the community).

Boat Launch & Parking Logistics
We have designed the logistics to make your arrival and water access seamless:

Ample Parking: Our cabin's driveway can easily fit a truck and trailer, along with about 3 to 4 additional vehicles comfortably. We highly recommend parking any watercraft safely on the property during your stay.

Public Boat Launch (Recommended): The public boat launch at the nearby Skokomish Campground is our top recommendation. It is less expensive than the private community launch, though please note it can get very busy during peak summer months.

Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals: Do not want to haul your own gear? We highly recommend reaching out to excellent local outfitters like Hood Canal Adventures or Hoodsport Wellness & Kayak Rentals for daily rentals. For the easiest experience with rental drop-offs, we recommend launching them from the nearby public Skokomish Campground. (We provide all their direct contact information and booking links in our digital welcome book once your reservation is confirmed!)

Private Community Boat Launch: There is a private community park, dock, and boat launch just a 1-minute walk from the cabin. All vehicles, watercraft, and trailers using the Lake Cushman Maintenance Company parks require paid passes. If you prefer the convenience of the private dock and launch, please let us know before you arrive so we can arrange the necessary passes with Lake Cushman Maintenance Company for an additional fee.

Pass Rules: Vehicles and trailers parked in community lots without permits may be towed. If you are bringing multiple watercraft on a single trailer, each watercraft requires its own individual pass.

Inside the Cabin
We have handled the logistics so you can focus on relaxing. The cabin is thoughtfully equipped to ensure you have all the comforts of home:

Family Game Nights: Unplug and reconnect! We have fully stocked game and puzzle cabinets located on both the main floor (under the peninsula) and the downstairs great room (next to the bunks) for cozy evenings by the wood stove.

Lightning-Fast Wi-Fi: Perfect for streaming or working remotely from paradise.

Gourmet Coffee Station: Start your mornings right with our dedicated espresso maker, coffee maker, and coffee grinder.

Entertainment: Two big-screen TVs for movie nights after a long day of exploring. Whirly Pop stove-top popcorn maker and popcorn are provided, for your perfect movie night.

Excellent Cooking Solutions: A fully stocked kitchen featuring a Weber gas BBQ grill, Air Fryer, Crockpot, electric skillet, cast iron Dutch oven, convection oven, and everything you need to prepare large group meals.

Room to Rest (Sleeps 10)
With four distinct bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, there is plenty of space for your entire group to unwind comfortably.

Buck and Doe Bedroom: 1 Queen Bed (upstairs)

Cozy Bear Bedroom: 1 Queen Bed (upstairs)

Evergreen Bedroom: 1 Queen Bed (downstairs)

Mt. Ellinor Bedroom: 1 Queen Bed (main floor)

Bonus Sleeping Space: 2 Twin Bunk Beds located in the downstairs great room.

Dog-Friendly Getaway
We know pets are part of the adventure! We welcome up to 2 dogs to join you on your Olympic Peninsula escape. We have doggy clean-up stations inside and around the exterior.

Adventure & Local Exploration
When you are ready to venture beyond the cabin, the best of the region is right in your backyard. We have mapped out the driving times so you can easily plan your itinerary:

Olympic National Park (Staircase Entrance): A scenic 30-minute drive puts you at the Staircase Rapids loop—perfect for hiking through lush, old-growth forests.

Mt. Ellinor Trailhead: Just 35 minutes away. Tackle this iconic hike for breathtaking, panoramic views of the Olympic Peninsula.

Hood Canal & Downtown Hoodsport: A quick 10 to 15-minute drive down the hill brings you to saltwater shorelines, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Lilliwaup Tidelands State Park: About 20 minutes away, this is a charming local spot for shell-fishing and coastal exploration.

Dining & Drinks in Hoodsport
Explore the fantastic local culinary and craft beverage scene just 15 minutes down the road:

Hoodsport Coffee Co. – For a quick bite and local roast.

Potlatch Brewing Co. – Grab a locally crafted brew.

Hoodsport Winery – Enjoy regional wine tasting with a stunning view.

We built MACS Cushman Cabin as a gathering place and a legacy of adventure for our family, and we are thrilled to open our doors to yours. Whether you are here for deep relaxation or outdoor exploration, this cabin provides the perfect basecamp for your Hoodsport escape.

The house was located in perfect proportion to the dock! We had gone to the lake to be on the water and it was great! The house is so well stocked with everything you could imagine it made it a great stay away from home! Just be cautious on the stairs, they are steep! Great weekend!!
Ample parking for all!
After we arrived we walked over to the dock, its about a 2-3 min walk!

The location of the property close to the private beach is excellent. We were able to enjoy swimming every day. Due to wildfires we were not able to use the fire pit. The town of Hoodsport is a short drive away to get groceries. Plenty of sleeping space and a full kitchen was a great asset. The towels provided and other things we didn't need to pack really helped out.

Hi Nora, Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the kind words about your stay. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the swimming and that the cabin amenities made things a little easier during your visit. The private beach is one of our favorite parts too. When the water levels rise it transforms more into a private dock. We’re sorry the wildfires limited your ability to use the fire pit, but so glad you were still able to enjoy the cabin and beautiful surroundings. We’d love to welcome you back again, hopefully with clearer skies and even more opportunities to relax by the beach or on the dock. Warmly, The MACS Cushman Cabin Team

We really had a lovely stay. The cabin has such a great communal space with plenty of room for the 9 of us while still providing privacy in the bedrooms and downstairs area. Our host was very easy to communicate with and everything worked well. The setting, with the gorgeous lake right outside and the little park areas was of course stunning. We had so much fun playing I'll n the water. Thanks again!

Hello! We are two families who share a lifelong love for the Hood Canal and Olympic Peninsula. We have been visiting Lake Cushman since we were children, and it has been incredibly special to watch our own children build their own memories here over the last decade.

MACS Cushman Cabin was born out of our desire to create a permanent gathering place that we genuinely love escaping to. We poured our hearts into this property, working closely with expert licensed contractors to completely renovate the space. Our vision was to build a retreat that met our high standards for comfort and logistics, while preserving the rustic mountain charm we grew up with. We built this cabin as a legacy of adventure for our families to enjoy, and we are absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to open our doors and share it with yours.

Why they chose this property

This neighborhood holds a deep, generational pull for us. Having grown up exploring these woods and waters, we knew exactly where we wanted to put down roots. We chose this spot in Hoodsport because it offers the ultimate Pacific Northwest trifecta: deep freshwater lakes, ancient old-growth forests, and saltwater shorelines—all within minutes.

Our cabin is nestled right in the heart of the Lake Cushman private community, offering a peaceful, secluded mountain vibe while remaining incredibly close to the action. We can walk out our front door and be standing at the pristine waters of Lake Cushman or Lake Standstill in just one minute. Beyond the immediate water access, it is the perfect launchpad for adventure. We are just 30 minutes from the stunning trails of Olympic National Park (Staircase Entrance), 35 minutes from the breathtaking Mt. Ellinor trailhead, and only 15 minutes down the hill to the saltwater shores, fresh oysters, and local craft breweries along the Hood Canal.

What makes this property unique

What truly sets MACS Cushman Cabin apart is the intentionality behind its design and its unbeatable location. Because we renovated this home specifically for our own families to use and love, no detail was overlooked. The professional upgrades were designed to effortlessly handle the logistics of a large group (up to 10 guests) without ever losing that cozy, personalized cabin feel.

With four distinct private bedrooms, a bonus bunk space for the kids, and—crucially—2.5 bathrooms, everyone has room to breathe and get ready in the morning without the usual group-travel friction. We also proudly welcome up to two dogs, because we know they are an essential part of the adventure!

Outside, our custom stone patio is built for making memories, featuring a massive picnic table that seats 10 and a fire pit for evening s'mores. Inside, you will find lightning-fast Wi-Fi, a gourmet espresso station, excellent cooking amenities, and cabinets fully stocked with games and puzzles for cozy days by the wood stove. Add in the fact that you are a true 1-minute walk to the community park, dock, and boat launch, and you have a completely frictionless basecamp for your vacation.
