About this property
Lakewood Lodge
Lakewood Lodge — Vermont Lakefront Retreat Guests Call “An Absolute Dream”
Welcome to Lakewood Lodge, your private, four-season Vermont getaway on the clear, spring-fed waters of Woodbury Lake (Sabin Pond). This is more than a rental; it’s a lovingly cared-for lodge where guests arrive and instantly relax. Over and over, visitors call it “immaculate,” “a dream,” and “the perfect place to disconnect.”
Our guest book brims with stories of slow mornings on the porch, afternoons of paddling and hiking, evenings soaking under the stars, and cozy nights by the fire. We’ve built Lakewood Lodge to make that experience effortless for you.
A Warm, Thoughtful Welcome
From the moment you park in the driveway, stone steps lead you to the porch and hot tub. Inside, the lodge greets you with a warm, organized interior — radiant floors underfoot, a propane “wood” stove for ambiance, and even peaceful music playing at check-in. Our on-site manager Maggie lives next door and is there to answer questions or offer local tips, while Susan and Mark (your hosts) provide clear instructions and easy communication.
“We enjoyed the lakeside lodge from the moment we turned the door handle and walked inside… peaceful music playing when we checked in… The mornings enjoying coffee on the porch and the evenings spent just relaxing and soaking in the views of the lake were so relaxing and peaceful.” — guest review
Inside the Lodge
Lakewood Lodge blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Reviewers rave about how “beautiful, clean, and full of great amenities” it is. The kitchen is a highlight — fully stocked for cooking and baking, with both Keurig and drip coffee makers, sharp knives, a grill outside, and plenty of seating for family meals. We’ve labeled cabinets and stocked extras so you can cook without hunting for utensils.
The living area features smart TVs, puzzles, and games for all ages. Red towels are set aside for the hot tub and white towels for bathrooms. Extra blankets live in the coffee table for snuggling up. Washer and dryer are on site for longer stays. Bedrooms are cozy and kid-friendly, and the whole space is bright and uncluttered.
“Had a lovely stay… absolutely beautiful inside and out. We enjoyed kayaking and hot tub afterwards. The cabin has an amazing kitchen and grill to make nice meals and enjoy being in a peaceful and serene environment!! Definitely will return.” — guest review
Outdoors at Lakewood Lodge
Step across the quiet lane to our private beach and dock on Woodbury Lake. Guests can:
Swim or float in the crystal-clear water.
Launch one of our four kayaks or two paddleboards (life jackets included) and explore hidden coves.
Fish for rainbow trout or simply watch the loons.
Relax on the grassy lawn with beach chairs and lawn games.
Light up either of our two firepits for s’mores under the stars.
Evenings are especially magical. Many guests mention their favorite memory as “coffee on the porch in the morning, hot tub under the stars at night.” Quiet hours from 10 PM to 9 AM protect the calm of the lake.
“This place is an absolute dream!!! The cabin is immaculate, well organized and labeled, and perfect for a group! There’s plenty of space to stretch out, cozy up by the wood stove with a book, or bird watch from the deck.” — guest review
Exploring Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom
Our Welcome Book offers dozens of local tips. Some highlights:
Hiking: Walk to Nichols Ledge for sweeping cliffside views; hike Spruce Mountain’s fire tower trail or explore the Woodbury Wildlife Reserve. In winter, snowshoe or ski the Hardwick Trails or the renowned Craftsbury Outdoor Center’s 85km of groomed tracks.
Biking: Ride the scenic 93-mile Lamoille Valley Rail Trail or rent an e-bike from Riverside Cycles in Hardwick.
Farms & Markets: Stock up on organic produce at Flywheel Farm next door, breakfast sandwiches at the East Calais General Store, or groceries at Buffalo Mountain Co-op.
Dining: Guests rave about Positive Pie, The Cork & Fork, Caja Taqueria (with axe-throwing out back), and Front Seat Coffee for pastries and espresso.
Breweries & Distilleries: Hill Farmstead Brewery (30 minutes) has been named the world’s best. Barr Hill Distillery in Montpelier offers award-winning gin. Smugglers’ Notch and The Alchemist (home of Heady Topper IPA) are also within reach.
Maple Creemees: It’s a Vermont tradition. Try Bragg Farm and Morse Farm and decide which maple soft-serve wins your heart.
Stowe and Montpelier are an easy drive for dining, shopping, or day trips.
