Our family of 6 enjoyed staying at this cozy, quiet cottage! If we ever visit the area again, we will be sure to rent the same cottage, along with the other 2 properties behind the cottage (all owned by the same people) and invite extended family! The cottage was small, but decorated nicely with enough beds for everyone. It is hard to tell in the pictures posted by the owners, but the twin beds in the upstairs loft are actually real twin beds....just make sure whomever chooses to sleep up there isn't afraid of a steep ladder. Lol. The railing was secure, however! I probably wouldn't let little ones up in the loft because of the ladder, but it was perfect for my teenagers! The laundry/half bath came in quite handy, and the other full bathroom was used every night. The owners informed us to spread out our showers so that we all would have plenty of hot water, but it was never an issue for us. We did as they suggested and it worked out great! This cottage is a short walk to the tourist shops, local grocery, and ferry in Mackinaw City. The two older teenagers walked to town quite a bit in the evenings for a post-dinner walk. We cooked our meals in the cottage kitchen quite a bit, and had almost everything we needed. The only thing I would suggest is a better quality skillet, and maybe more grilling tools and a bucket for the ashes from the grill (there was only one grilling utensil). The fire pit was also a great addition that we made sure to use! Seriously though, I am pretty picky and this place was great! You can tell the owners care about their cottage and their guests. As far as things to do, we took the Star Line Ferry to Mackinaw Island one day and walked around, took a carriage ride, rode bikes, shopped and ate. Another day we went to the church around the corner (again within walking distance), visited McGulpin Point and enjoyed the view of the Straits of Mackinaw and skipped rocks, took an afternoon dip in the clear waters found at First (?) Beach at Wilderness State Park, threw axes in the Mackinaw City shopping center (the kids and hubby loved that!), ate at Rusted Spoke Brewing (smoked wings are amazing!), and took a drive over the Mackinaw Bridge just out of curiosity (and discovered that side of the bridge is more for the serious nature lovers...fishing, boating, etc.). All in all, it was a nice, short trip. We would definitely recommend staying at this place again!
