About this property

Macatawa- Mackinaw City Cottage, walking distance to town!

A one bedroom bright and cheery cottage which is one of 3 on this property. It is walking distance to town. The focal point is the large screened front porch with a table and chairs for dining, and a wicker loveseat and chair for relaxing. Its the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of sight seeing or to sip a cup of coffee in the morning. The kitchen has everything you need to cook any meal. And the full bathroom has a shower/tub combo. The bedroom has a queen bed while the living area has a full size sofa bed. TV/cable and internet are included, with games and books for your enjoyment also. It is a short walk to town and to the Straights. (The cottage is not waterfront). And a quick drive gets you to the Headlands Dark Sky Park, sandy beaches, and the UP. We feel this is ideal for 2 people, but can sleep 3 or 4 if really needed.
If this is booked or if you are interested in waterfront a few miles out of town, please check out the site for “Pointe West”. The address is Carp Lake, but it’s located on Lake Michigan between Mackinaw City and Wilderness State Park.

Great location in a quiet neigborhood that is within walking distance of almost everything in Mackinaw City. We used our stay here to see all the wonderful fall colors northern Michigan has to offer. Location made it easy to reach the UP as well as both coasts in northern Michigan for out and back day trips. Host was easy to reach and the entire stay went very smoothly. Clean, cozy, and comfortable!

We spent 3 nights in this sweet cottage. We loved the screened in porch. The furniture and beds are comfortable. I liked that it was a little away from the main part of Mackinaw City, but close enough we could walk to most places.We would love to stay there again if we’re ever in the area. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed this little gem. It was centrally located to so many activities. The weather was terrific and loved the porch for evening games. Thanks to Todd for coming out to rescue two sisters who aren’t very savvy with the door lock system.

Comfy Cozy Cottage for One

I stayed in the Macatawa City Cottage for 3 nights and felt like I was home. The decor is understated and tasteful; the bed is comfortable; the shower had plenty of hot water, and I enjoyed most of my meals IN because the kitchen has everything one needs. It was also a walkable distance to the ferry that goes to the island, which I enjoyed exploring for the first time. I would recommend this cottage for a couple or single guest.

A Lovely Little Cottage

We really enjoyed staying in this lovely little cottage. The decor is lovely and the cottage feels very homey and cozy. We particularly liked the screened-in front porch. The location is great - we were able to bike to the ferry, which was convenient.

Perfect location!

The Macatawa cottage worked out perfectly for my wife and me. The cottage is perfect for two people and is really quaint and cute. It was well-stocked with all the amenities we needed and was near everything Mackinaw city has to offer. Very relaxing and we would definitely stay again.

Very nice location for everything we wanted to see! Short drive(could even walk) to the Mackinac Island ferry. Many places to eat nearby. Great little screened in porch. Perfect cottage for a couple.

Cozy Cottage

I loved the property and the location. We took bikes and some days did not need to use our car at all. It was very convenient; and the day we went to Mackinaw Island -- we ferried with our bikes and rode right there, avoiding parking fees at the dock.

Quaint. Cozy. Accommodating.

The cabin had everything you could want or need! We stopped by a market on our way in to grab groceries and cooked several meals very easily at the cabins. Hot water was instant and very hot which made washing and dishes easy. We loved the porch! Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, great location! Can’t ask for more and will be back!

Another Great visit

This is our 4th visit to this property and second to this particular cottage. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners this visit and tell them, in person, how much we have enjoyed visiting over the years. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but just a short walk to town. These owners really care about their property and making improvements and we appreciate that. Unfortunately, the dates we chose for next year are already booked, but we plan to return somtime soon. Thanks again for sharing your cottage and nice meeting you both!

Cozy and clean

Our stay was relaxing and quiet! Great location. We had looked forward to the screened in porch for morning reading and fire pit for chilling out after long hikes and walks - and they would have been wonderful if Mother Nature hadn’t decided to rain on the roof and blow winds thru the oak trees. Bring a couple more towels would be a suggestion so you would have plenty to dry off after a rainy hike!!

Awesome Cottage

This is the first time my husband and I booked a cottage online and let me tell you this experience could not have turned out better. Diane was extremely helpful and was available if needed any time. The cottage was clean and well maintained and had everything needed for a wonderful vacation. The location was perfect. The photographs were exactly how the cottage was in person. I have already recommended this cottage to several people and I have forwarded my own photos to them. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer. We plan on returning.

We bought this property as a "fixer upper" opportunity. We enjoy renovating projects together and love Mackinaw (vacationed here every summer with our kids) so this was the perfect place for us. The 3 cottages give us a vacation home that will fit all of us as our children get married and have their own families.

Why they chose this property

We also love this place for its history as part of the Lazy T resort decades ago. So to restore these cottages and rent them again for families to enjoy is an added benefit. Plus Mack City is a great starting point for other travels to the U.P. and other northern Michigan tourist towns.
