About this property
"The Huckleberry Inn" - Your Home Away from Home
The Huckleberry Inn is thoughtfully designed with earthy tones, natural textures and cozy touches that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're curling up with a book, sipping on some morning coffee, or soaking up the afternoon sun; this space invites you to unwind! Located in the quiet neighborhood of Roosevelt Park and minutes from Lake Michigan Beaches, Downtown Muskegon, local markets, and scenic nature trails - this boho retreat is a perfect blend of serenity and adventure.
If you are staying with us in the winter, make sure to check out these winter activities:
• Muskegon Luge & Adventure Sports Park (25 min drive)
• Hiking at Lake Harbor Park (5 min drive) and P.J. Hoffmaster State Park (10 min drive)
• Ice fishing at Muskegon Lake (10 min drive)
• Stop and see the snowboarding landmark in Downtown Muskegon (10 min drive)
• Hang out in the social district downtown Muskegon and checkout the local restaurants, shops, museums, and more!
You have your own private entrance that welcomes you to an open style guesthouse. The bedroom area features a comfortable queen bed, smart TV, and sitting area. The kitchen and dining area is stocked with all the essentials needed to cook/prep meals. There are also many delicious restaurants in the area that are definitely worth checking out! Coffee (Keurig) and tea will be available for you. There is a room divider to separate the bedroom space from the kitchen area for more privacy.
The full bathroom has a shower/tub combo and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is provided.
Outside, the deck is sectioned off with privacy dividers giving guests their own space to enjoy (deck furniture seasonal only). Guests have their own firepit and grill area (the grill is seasonal only). One small dog is welcome :) The area by the grill/firepit is where you can take your dog out to play!
You have the entire guest suite to yourself. The guest suite is attached to the main house (but not accessible) and both are accessed by the deck. When guests are staying, hosts will use the front entrance to the main house to give guests more privacy. The suite can comfortably sleep 2 people.
Laundry may be used for a fee during appropriate and approved hours in the main house. The thermostat is also located in the main house and guests do not have access to it. Please reach out at any time if you would like the heat or AC adjusted and I'd be happy to do so. There is also an electric heater, ceiling fan, and tower fan in the suite.

About the host
Hosted by Karly Smothers
Cody (my co-host) and I have 2 Golden Retrievers - Huckleberry and Sawyer, and 1 German Shepherd/Pitbull mix, named Marlowe. They are our babies and we do just about everything with them!
I moved from the east side of Michigan to the west side of Michigan in 2019. I started working in vacation rental management and learning the area, and quickly fell in love. I purchased my first home (my current home) in 2021 and immediately started doing some big renovations. It is a true fixer upper and I spend a lot of time working on my house, but I love doing it.
In my free time, I'm usually hanging out with my dogs, at the beach, or traveling.

Why they chose this property
I love that Roosevelt Park is it's own little community inside a larger city. It's full of great parks, community events throughout the year, and wonderful people. Take a walk, look at all the cute homes, and I think you'll understand quickly why I love this little neighborhood!
What makes this property unique
When staying at The Huckleberry Inn, we hope you feel a sense of "home away from home". We don't want you to feel like you are staying at another person's house or at a rental - we want you to immediately feel welcomed. To embrace the coziness and warmth that home brings, and the feeling of not wanting to leave or longing of wanting to come back.
