Loved the location and place! I had trouble with the outside party check-in system, and when I requested a 1-hour extension for check-out (wanted to be out at 11 am), I encountered friction. 10 am is too early a check-out for a multi-day stay.
Great location! We had a great time staying at the Cottage at the Point. Just a short walk to the water. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Will definitely look for availablility on our next trip up to Santa Cruz.
We had a wonderful stay and loved the place! It is in a perfect location right next to Pleasure Point and we loved walking just 2 blocks to watch the surfers— such a mesmerizing view. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept so well, which is a top priority for us! The house was quiet, clean, cute and overall very comfortable. Loved having the back patio and the washer and dryer came in handy too. Comfy couch to hang out in the evenings which isn’t always the case in vacation rentals. It wasn’t necessarily well stocked so come prepared. It would be nice to have a better coffee situation (only a few keurig cups available), there was no shower soap, no coasters in the house (really want to be able to protect furniture), no wash cloths, and not enough toilet paper to last our 6 nights. I feel that these things should be stocked for a short stay like this. We brought our own coffee but it wouldn’t work in the keurig provided. Otherwise the experience was really wonderful and we would return again!
This is a cozy, updated beach cottage! It close to the beach and walkable to local shops and restaurants. It's very comfortable and clean on a nice street. Only thing keeping this from a 5 star is that there was a leak in the bathroom sink that went onto the floor and wasn't fixed during our stay. Also I'd contacted the property management twice about getting a pack-n-play for our stay - they responded to acknowledge the request but never followed up to provide or decline it. Communication from the property management could be improved.
Great little beach house. Fantastic location, near grocery store, EV charging, restaurants, and beach as well as just a short drive to Santa Cruz and Monterey/Carmel. Had everything we needed, very comfortable for a family of 4.
This was a great spot for a family getaway. The place was comfortable and had everything we needed, from kitchen supplies to laundry detergent. Check in was super easy (no communication needed beyond getting the email a day in advance of check in). Hard to beat the location! We’d stay again.

If you're considering Pleasure Point Cottage Steps from Surf, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. While the location is great, the property itself—and especially its management by Grand Welcome—made for a very disappointing vacation. On our very first night, we discovered that the refrigerator had a mechanical problem. Every two hours, the fan would turn on with an extremely loud, piercing noise that ran for about ten minutes, making it impossible to sleep. We contacted Grand Welcome immediately that night and again the following morning. After spending hours of our vacation going back and forth with both Grand Welcome and VRBO (who actually heard the noise themselves over the phone), we were told the refrigerator would be replaced. That never happened. Instead, someone delivered a new refrigerator and placed it directly in front of the second bedroom door, leaving the original broken refrigerator installed and still running. The noise continued. Unfortunately, the refrigerator wasn't the only issue. The oven didn't work, the coffee maker didn't work, and the Wi-Fi was so unreliable that we couldn't even perform a basic Google search for nearby restaurants, let alone stream television. The most frustrating part wasn't just the maintenance problems—it was Grand Welcome's unwillingness to resolve them in any meaningful way. For a vacation rental at this price point, we expected a properly functioning property and responsive management. We received neither.
