The home sits on a large corner lot in the peaceful and quiet (and less-windy) neighborhood of Twin Palms, and offers all the elements of mid century modern living and 21st century amenities - inside and out. The beds are super-comfortable and linens are plush and cozy. The open concept kitchen, dining and living room overlook the fabulous pool deck, which is back-dropped by the 10,000 foot San Jacinto Mountain range - seeming so close you can touch it. The great-room offers abundant light and the indoor/outdoor living environment Palm Springs is known for. The kitchen is well stocked with all the modern amenities needed for today's cooks - and includes Jenn-Air Premier appliances. There is indoor dining for 6, and a 6-top for outdoor dining. This Twin Palms home was carefully renovated to the look and feel of its original William Krisel design. Originally completed in 1957 by the Alexander Construction Company, this home is known as the "Gable."
Twin Palms is the first mid-century modern neighborhood built by George Alexander's company. Alexander and Architects Dan Palmer and William Krisel are credited with redefining the architectural landscape of Palm Springs residential real estate. Their success initiated the City's first major housing boom in the 50's and forever changed its architectural landscape.
The home renovation team worked closely with Mr. Krisel during the remodel and restoration of this exciting mid century modern home. The team consulted his archives, now at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, attempting to return the home to the look and feel that it had when first completed. The floor plan, a masterpiece of space planning, continues to work beautifully for today's lifestyle.
