Beautiful Triple-Lofted Lakeside Cabin near Downtown Mentone Sleeps 9

Kowaliga

Guests are sure to enjoy this fully furnished, lakeside cabin built from the Poplar and Wormy Maple trees that once stood in its place. This 1 bedroom/2 bath mountain cabin features one private bedroom with a queen-sized bed, while the remaining beds (1 full-sized bed, 3 single beds) are located in the loft spaces. There is also a double sleeper sofa in the stunning living room, which is also furnished with a recliner and mounted television(smart tv) over the monumental stone framed wood-burning fireplace. There are 2 double size swinging beds on the 2nd story exterior porch, perfect taking in a relaxing sunset or an afternoon nap. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric stove, microwave, Keurig coffee maker (pods not included) basic cooking utensils, griddle and a full size refrigerator. If that grilled-over-the-campfire flavor is what you crave, a classic charcoal weber grill awaits out back, just remember to bring your favorite briquettes with you!

Unwind at the end of the day with a soothing soak under the stars in the jacuzzi on the back deck, or a tell stories and share laughs around the fire pit in the back yard.
The property is just minutes away from the heart of Mentone where many wonderful attractions can be experienced. Whether in town, hiking trails around DeSoto Falls, or back at the cabin, guests of Kowiliga will certainly forge lasting memories of their vacation on Lookout Mountain.

Cozy home in the mountains off the beaten path. If you are looking for a getaway that’s secluded yet close enough to town to grab amenities if needed, then this is your place. About 25 minutes to Fort Payne (Walmart, restaurants) and an hour to Chattanooga (zoo, aquarium, attractions like Rock City and Ruby Falls). 10-15 minutes to Desoto State Park (hiking, zip line, horseback riding). Family of four with two teenagers had a great getaway. Pond for fishing, hot tub for soaking, fire pit for roasting. Really enjoyed our stay. Host was very quick to communicate and easy access to the home.

First let me so communication with the host was top notice. Our family enjoyed canoeing/ kayaking in the lake and lots of fun spent around the campfire and hot tub. One of the main attractions is only 7 minutes away and the other is 25.

About the host

My father, Thomas Milham, fell in love with Mentone when he discovered the area in 2003. He grew up in Fairhope, Alabama among a family of avid sailors who owned two separate restaurants there. Being familiar with hospitality, he purchased 11 acres and over the next 8 years built 3 cabins and a 3-acre lake for visitors to come comfortably experience the natural beauty of Lookout Mountain. Sadly, he passed away in December of 2019. We often receive messages from the many regular guests who remember the one and only "Mr. Tommy" fondly.

Why they chose this property

My dad chose to purchase real estate in this beautiful mountainous area as an investment for his children and grandchildren. This property fulfilled his dreams and brought much happiness to him, our family, and the many guests who have visited over the years.
