A perfect couple’s or solo traveller's getaway, el nido (the nest) is tucked into one of Wakefield’s original buildings dating back to 1910. Featuring exposed brick touches, a small but well-appointed kitchen, a heat pump for cool summer days and cozy winter stays, an extensive wrap-around porch, and a king-sized bed, el nido provides a great boho-chic space in which to relax and experience Wakefield’s unique offerings. (CITQ # 303917).
El nido is a two-level loft, so you will need to navigate stairs. We provide a state-of the-art hepa filter, have a heat pump for cool summer days and nights and cozy winter stays, use unscented cleaning products and soaps, and provide anti-bacterial bed linens. For those who practice yoga and meditation, the upstairs bedroom features an ideal space. We also feature a 'forest bath' path at the back of the garden for those who want to spend time under the trees.
There is something for every season and time of day in this “live and let live” town. In the morning, grab some freshly baked goods at one of Wakefield’s renowned bakeries, and a coffee from the local roaster across the street. In the summer, stroll two minutes to the river for a morning swim at the dock, take a picnic for the afternoon, or rent a canoe, paddleboard, or kayak for the day from Expeditions Wakefield, just a stone’s throw away. Explore the majestic Gatineau hills hiking, biking, and in the winter, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing these world-class trails. You can literally walk to them from the front door! And from summer to autumn, visit the Saturday farmer’s market located just across the street to procure local organic goods, crafts, and listen to live music. Fall brings with it a spectacular vibrant show of red, yellow and orange leaves, not to be missed. Wakefield village is home to several gallery spaces and funky boutiques, a beautiful fire-engine red covered bridge, and a heritage museum, all waiting for your visit.
When the evening rolls around, enjoy a 5 á 7 at the corner pub – or sip some wine on the porch. Then walk to one of Wakefield’s top-notch restaurants for a sumptuous dinner. You can also buy exquisite takeout meals, or make your own, and enjoy a romantic evening in the nest! And for a special treat, book a spa and massage at the Mill or the renowned Nordik Spa, just minutes away. These are only a handful of 1001 possibilities for fun, adventure, and relaxation in and around Wakefield.

Great communication with Viviane. Easy check-in. Our VRBO was super cute and well stocked. Spotless! Loved having a covered deck. Great location. Isabelle’s across the street made fabulous croissants. Would highly recommend.
My stay at El Nido was amazing. It’s the most comfortable and well equipped short term rental I have stayed in to date. It’s located within walking distance to village cafes, bars and restaurants. Super clean, morning coffee provided was a huge plus. Enjoyed the back peaceful terasse. Do not hesitate to book. Un endroit absolument charmant et confortable. Merci Vivianne.

The perfect stay
This apartment is a little gem nestled right in Wakefield. The covered porch is like an outdoor living room that feels like you could be in the middle of the woods. It was so quiet and relaxing. The kitchen is well equipped with everything I needed. Providing the fresh coffee beans was a really nice touch. The bedroom is spacious and the mattress is extremely comfortable. Viviane was quick to respond with any questions I had, which seems to be harder to find with so many rental properties. I will definitely be back for another stay. Thank you so much 😊

The right place in an extraordinary village.
The region is experiencing extraordinary fall weather. Very dry and sunny. Arrived Thurs left Saturday, which made all the difference in our enjoyment of Wakefield. I recommend week day getaways. Why Wakefield and not another place? Sheer beauty and the residents are super friendly. Even the drivers were kind.
Excellent location. We cycled Gatineau Park and the TransCanadaTrail. Magnificent from here.
El Nido
Bed and bedding superb. So comfortable!
Enjoyed porch. Very cozy for two.
Restaurants and bakeries all a close, pleasant walk from here. But Café Isabelle across the street is a special a bonus. Next time we will set ourselves up to picnic by the river.❤️
Vivianne was a very responsive host and accommodating. We would return.
