This Columbia County lakefront home in the foothills of the Berkshires is an open air, sun drenched, wood and glass deck house on 1.3 acres with 130 feet of Lake frontage boasting sweeping views of Copake Lake from every room with an oversized back deck that spans the lake side of the house. It is on the cul de sac of a gated, private Island facing out across the main, middle section of Copake Lake. The house is 115 miles or 2 hours from midtown Manhattan. It stands over 4,100 living sq ft with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a 2 car garage. Area attractions include water sports on Copake Lake, golf at Copake Country Club, a community tennis court, two pickleball courts, snow skiing at Catamount or Butternut, plus fine dining, shopping and entertainment in Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA.

Beautiful family vacation!

Beautiful house and property! Big yard for lots of family and lakeside entertainment. The chateau was spacious with plenty of room for 8 adults and 5 young children. Fred is a wonderful host and was very helpful in providing us information about the area’s activities.

Heaven on Copake Lake

Everything to make our waterborne stay excellent was provided. We swam, we kayaked, we rented a pontoon boat, we paddle boarded. Lucky us! All ages, all happy.

An Unforgettable Memorial Weekend at Château de Mo

We had an unforgettable holiday over Memorial Day weekend with family and friends at the stunning Château de Mo on Copake Lake.The Château was incredibly spacious and comfortable, offering all the amenities we could have asked for. Its unique location on a private island, paired with breathtaking views down the lake, made our stay truly special.We loved the variety of activities available—fishing, paddleboarding, and even swimming right off the property. The tennis and basketball courts were a fantastic bonus, and the close proximity to hiking trails added another layer of adventure to our trip.A big thank you to the owner, Fred Moran, who ensured everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival and was always prompt and helpful in his communication.Highly recommend this hidden gem for a relaxing and activity-filled getaway!

Amazing week on the lake

This is a beautiful and peaceful house right on the lake. I gathered a group of friends for my 40th birthday and it was the perfect location. There was plenty of room both indoors and outdoors to spread out and enjoy. We ate most meals outdoors on the deck and also enjoyed the hot tub, paddle boards, ping pong table, and grill. Perfect getaway!

Great Family Retreat

Renting was easy and Fred, the host was very communicative. He sent a detailed guide to the home on the day we arrived and put up with my not reading it to help us get into the gated neighborhood and house via text. It’s a beautiful spot right on the lake. The house is well equipped and spacious. It was perfect for our family to stay for our son’s graduation from a nearby (20 min away) boarding school.

The house was perfect for a reunion weekend of 9 friends with plenty of space for everyone to socialize, eat and relax. Since it was a November weekend, we did not use any of the outside areas. It was convenient to nice hiking places and cultural attractions.

Wonderful, roomy house with beautiful lake views.

We held our annual quilting retreat with my elderly mother, aunts, cousins and my sister. We had an awesome time. Everyone had a comfortable bed, we enjoyed a movie in the family room and had lunch on the deck. The well equipped kitchen had everything we needed. Will plan to stay again!

Amazing Weekend on Copake Lake

Chateau de Mo is a special place. Nestled on a secluded peninsula on picturesque Copake Lake, the home offers everything you need for a relaxing weekend to recharge from city life. We spent three days/nights there as part of an 8 person reunion and enjoyed relaxing on the deck, cooking on the grill, playing golf at nearby Copake Country Club and sleeping comfortably (all with our own beds). Highly recommended...we will be back!

Roomy House; Beautiful Location

This house is ideal for a large family vacation. It was roomy, so that our family of 5 adults and 4 children (ages 9 to 4-1/2) had plenty of space and never felt that we were in each other’s way. The kitchen was well equipped, with a large refrigerator, large sink, many pots, pans and utensils, and plenty of cabinet and counter space. The house also has new, large washer and dryer. The view from the house toward the lake is beautiful, and every room looks out to the lake. The lake is less than a minute walk from the house, and the water was clear and clean. Even on the weekend there wasn’t much boating activity on the lake, so we felt that, for all intents and purposes, we had the lake to ourselves. There was a large supply of life jackets of varying sizes. The children and their parents enjoyed the paddle boards. The hot tub was also a big hit with everyone. The community tennis court is a two minute walk from the house, and again, we felt we had that to ourselves. The owner provided excellent directions for reaching the house as well as an extensive list of activities and restaurants in the area. We look forward to vacationing there again in the future.

Perfect family retreat right on beautiful Copake Lake

Our family of 13, half children ages 4-16 and half adults, just finished our weeklong stay at Chateau de Mo. We loved every moment. All the comforts a big family needs set in a piece of heaven on earth. The chateau is set on a half island in the middle of Copake Lake, surrounded by perfectly manicured lawns and towering trees. We spent most of the day between swimming in the lake, relaxing in the jacuzzi, playing tennis and basketball, and taking nature walks around the area. We also rented a boat (5 min walk to the boat rental place) and did some fishing one day, caught a few beautiful basses. The house is perfect for groups with kids, with so many toys and TV sets ready to entertain. We got great results from the BBQ grill and fully equipped kitchen. Last but not least Fred was a real pleasure. He graciously addressed every question we had in a matter of minutes, always meeting our needs. It’s not easy to find the perfect rental - space, activities, location, amenities, owner/manager, price. But Chateau de Mo is as close as it gets! We can’t wait to come back.. Jacob

Lovely and peaceful setting

We traveled to a family wedding from Kansas City for the week and rented this lovely property on Copake Lake. The house was quite spacious and well appointed and very comfortable for the 9 adults and two toddlers who came, including a large kitchen/dining area, and two family room areas. The kids loved the tennis court area and the dock, while the adults enjoyed the sunrise and evenings on the oversized deck, as well as the 6 person hot tub. It was a wonderful experience. Fred, the owner, does an outstanding job of immediately answering questions and resolving issues, and deserves his 5 star rating. If another family event came up in the Catskills or Berkshires, I would have no problems renting this place again.

Spectacular house, views & space. We love it!

Chateaux Mo is a wonderful property. The lake views are spectacular! It’s peaceful , very spacious and well equipped. In the winter it’s close to skiing at Catamount. It’s warm and cozy with real fires. Heaps of bedrooms , heaps of entertaining space, BBQ, hot tub, garden with a slope on one side steep enough to sledge. It has everything. We will be back again and again!!

Beautiful property, perfect for a family gathering

I stayed with my extended family (ages 3 to 93) over Thanksgiving weekend. The house is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of beds for our party of 13. There were toys and games for the little one, a hot tub and games for the adults, a huge kitchen, and a gorgeous lake view. The picture don't do it justice! Frederick was incredibly responsive to email/text and gave a lot of helpful information about the house and local area. I would definitely rent this gem again - it's a perfect house for all seasons.

Beautiful place for a wonderful weekend getaway

We were three couples who spent the weekend on a chilly November weekend. The views of the lake are spectacular and the kitchen/dining room made for easy to prepare meals. Although there are numerous places to eat out, we ended up preferring to cook-in. Hot tub spa great. Lots of hiking and outdoor options all about.

Absolutely stunning!

Some of my close friends and family stayed with me at Copake Lake and enjoyed it! The lake was gorgeous, the house comfortable and spacious. We spent time in the water and played basketball. It was a fantastic get away from the city. Fred was great, easy to reach and he gave us all the tips we needed for places to go and see. The place really felt like home for the weekend :)

Beautiful home and property - perfect for families!

Our family had an amazing vacation at this property. The owner was incredibly accommodating at every part of the booking process, during, and after our stay. The home itself is gorgeous and well designed. The location is ideal and property is lakefront with stunning views and access. There is ample gear for fun; floats for the lake, bikes, tennis rackets, board games, etc. For families with young children there are also pack 'n plays, safety railings for beds where small children might sleep, safety gates for the steps, a high chair, a swing set, lots of toys and books, etc. This house is the perfect place to enjoy the lake and each other's company. Highly recommend Chateau de Mo!

Absolutely lovely!

We had a wonderful time at the Chateau De Mo. Our large family group, which included several small children, came from Europe and from Hawaii to get together for a family wedding. We spent a week at the house. Our stay could not have been more enjoyable. Plenty of room for everyone, lots of bathrooms, very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, stocked with all the basics one needs to put together a nice meal. Plenty of books, toys, puzzles, bikes and even an electric go-car for the kids, lovely large deck overlooking the lake for the grownups to relax on. Nice tennis court, too. The location is peaceful and private, in a gated community. Fred is a very gracious host. We loved every minute we spent at his house!

Lake fun

We love Fred and his wonderful house. The accommodations were perfect for a family getaway including 3 children under 4 years old. We hung out on the property including swings and tennis courts and also checked out Great Barrington and Hudson. The farm stands and farmers markets were awesome as well. Fred pointed us in all of the best directions in terms of food and activities and the house was the best for hanging out. Thanks Fred!

Relaxing & perfectly situated

Awesome house for our stay during my daughters wedding at the Copake Golf Course right down the street. Fit our extended family & friends for get togethers, dinners and just hanging around. We all loved hanging on the dock, stand-up-paddle boarding, and lounging in the sun. Lots of room for kids to have their own hang out area too. Loved the privacy of being on the island with the huge yard. Tennis & basketball just up the driveway!! Absolutely perfect.

Wow ! What a wonderful vacation! This is the second year we took a family vacation at Chateau De Mo on Copake Lake, and we are so happy that we decided to go back! My husband and I and our 5 children, their spouses, and our 4 little grandchildren had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. It is the perfect place for a large family group, since it is right on the lake , and that allows for the little ones to nap while Mom and Dad enjoy a leisurely time on the the dock or lawn, or the awesome deck overlooking the lake (with monitor in hand for the little ones). The owner even has toys available for the children. The kiddos loved seeing the deer and ducks and other animals on the island, especially the bald eagle! The home itself is gorgeous and huge! There is enough space for everyone to be comfortable, and to have a quiet spot away from everyone else to read or work if necessary. The owner is extremely helpful and always available via e-mail and/or text to answer any questions that arise. The lake and the area are beautiful and full of places to visit if you want to take a day trip, but we mostly just enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the lake and the island. I would recommend this great home to anyone who appreciates nature and it's beauty. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their wonderful home!

Born and raised in Manhattan, Fred went to Fieldston High School and The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania. He worked for leading investment banking firms in New York City. He enjoys power boating, waterskiing, cycling and tennis. Fred started weekending at Copake Lake immediately after graduating from college when his best friend and he bought their first waterski boat together. Fred currently works as a realtor for The Corcoran Group.
