Loved that it was pet friendly with a fully fenced in backyard. The Oasis was centrally located in a quiet neighborhood in the middle of Brandon. Easy access to the grocery store and some good restaurants. We were happy that it provided access to a washer and dryer, it allowed us to travel lighter. I do want to address a previous review regarding the presence of bugs. This is NOT a property with bug problems. Not a single creepy crawl here, this is not a home with an insect problem.
The check-in process itself was stressful. After driving eight hours from out of state for a funeral and still not receiving any entry information by 1:00 PM, we contacted VRBO as instructed. VRBO attempted to reach the host without success and even discussed relocating us. We eventually were able to reach the host and received the code to enter, though the host later seemed upset that we had contacted VRBO. Typically, rental access information is provided at least the day prior, so the lack of communication made us nervous about the validity of our reservation. We learned the previous renters had damaged the front door. The keypad lock frequently jammed and at one point stopped working entirely, forcing us to use a spare key. Even then, the door required excessive force to lock and unlock, which would be very difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was adequately stocked. However, there were no written instructions provided at all (Wi-Fi, house guidelines, or checkout), which is unusual for a short-term rental. We also encountered multiple bugs in the kitchen, bathrooms, and living areas. When we messaged the host on the first day, we were told they were water bugs and that this was normal, though it was still unpleasant. The floors are also coming up in areas making it unsafe for children. Overall, while we made it work to avoid additional stress during an already difficult time, we wouldn’t stay again.

I would caution other hosts before accepting this guest.
From the start, the guest did not acknowledge the detailed check-in instructions that were sent, despite those messages clearly explaining the 4:00 PM check-in time and that access details would be provided once the home was ready. While hosts may communicate differently, this information was clearly outlined.
As a courtesy, the guest was allowed to arrive early at 1:30 PM—approximately 3.5 hours before the standard check-in time.
Shortly after arrival, the guest reported that the shower handle was broken. This was not the case prior to check-in; the handle had been pulled off and could easily be reattached. When we offered to send maintenance immediately, the issue was resolved without repair.
The guest later raised concerns about insects. The property is professionally treated monthly. One insect was observed during a period of unusually cold weather in Tampa, which can cause pests to seek warmth indoors. There was no infestation and no continued issue reported.
There was also a temporary door issue caused by the prior guest. We immediately provided a key so the guest could enter and exit without disruption.
Despite these matters being addressed promptly, the guest later contacted the platform requesting a full refund several days after arrival and after continuing to stay in the property.
Based on our experience, I would not host this guest again and recommend other hosts proceed with caution.
