About this property
3-Bedroom, 2-Bath Shorefront Retreat on Big Squam Lake:
New to the rental market!
Come and experience the beauty and tranquility of Big Squam Lake, made famous by the movie starring Katherine Hepburn, Henry and Jane Fonda, and Dabney Coleman… and, of course, the loons!
This lakeside retreat is nestled in the woods on a quiet, wooded cove, providing privacy for the perfect on-the-lake vacation. The private dock ensures easy access for your motorboat, kayak, canoe, or paddleboard to see all Big Squam Lake has to offer. An L.L. Bean kayak and Old Town canoe are available for guest use. As one of the shallower areas, Sturtevant Bay Cove provides warmer water and a great place for children learning to swim or paddleboard. The open lake is a water skier’s paradise. At the end of the day, relax on the dock and watch the sun set over the Rattlesnake Mountains or enjoy your favorite glass of wine on the screened porch that runs the full width of the house.
In addition to water sports and on-the-lake activities, this is also an ideal location for the wildlife enthusiasts, hikers, and photographers. Loons, ducks, geese, herons, turtles, squirrels, deer, and backyard birds will provide hours of entertainment and dozens of hiking trails for all abilities can be found nearby. While secluded and private, this property is just 3 miles to Center Harbor’s restaurants, grocery markets, and shops and a 7-mile drive to Meredith’s shopping and dining options. Meredith frequently hosts street festivals and artist’s fairs; the sculpture walk throughout the villages features pieces from artists of excellent talent. The Mount Washington cruise boat docks several times a day in Meredith and its’ tours around Lake Winnipesaukee are unforgettable.
This 8-year-old single family home of post-and-beam construction, with vaulted ceilings and open floor plan is perfect for your multigenerational family vacation. When not sampling the local restaurants, enjoy preparing meals in the modern kitchen with an abundance of light and views of nature and the lake. Granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and oak cabinets and flooring are warm and welcoming. The dining area hosts a large, expandable cherry table to seat 8 guests, as well as countertop seating. The loft space overlooking the living room has a large desk for wi-fi-based remote business work. Ceiling fans are located throughout the home and a Jotul propane stove quickly addresses any chilly evenings.
The 3-bedroom, 2 bath home features 2 bedrooms and a full bath upstairs and 1 bedroom (electric bed) and full bath on the main level to accommodate quests. All are tastefully decorated with natural wood furniture and queen-sized beds. The living room has comfortable seating and includes a sofa bed with new double-size mattress. All bed and bath linens are provided. Bamboo floors and oriental carpets are featured throughout the home. It also features windows across the entire width of the house (living and dining rooms) to take full advantage of the lakeside exposure.
Guests can feel confident traveling to/from this property in electric vehicles; an electric charger, powered by the solar panels, is available for guest use by the driveway with a 25’ charge cable. There is also ample room for parking 4 large cars or 3 cars and 1 boat trailer. A public boat launch is only a 3-minute drive from this property. Bookings are for 7 nights with self check-in on Saturday afternoons and self check-out the following Saturday morning.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape, quality time with loved ones, or a chance to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Central New Hampshire’s Lakes region, this thoughtfully designed retreat offers the ideal mix of relaxation, polished comfort, and outdoor adventure. This home invites you to slow down, savor the moment, and make lasting memories in a truly special setting. Come experience the magic of Big Squam Lake from the comfort of your own private haven.
