Unsafe and run down property. Claims to be newly built but is at least 7+ years old and has extreme wear and tear. Issues we had were unimaginable and host was negligent and verbally abusive. We actually feel scared for our lives.
Happy to share entirety of correspondence we had with them , also all photos and videos. This listing should be removed until deferred maintenance is addressed and perhaps a property manager hired.
We file formal disputes because owners would not grant any sort of refunds for all the issues we had, not limited to below:
- Exterior lighting for pool broken throughout duration of entire stay - unsafe for elderly mother and children - could not use backyard after dusk.
- Filthy unkempt bathroom upon arrival (was promised housekeeping to arrive to clean - never came once during stay despite our daily inquiries. They did manage to arrive 1.5 hours before our check out time)
- Broken television
- clogged drains ( asked for drano but was told we could not put it in drain. Asked for plumber - took 3 days to have addressed and owner sent us bill since "drain was not that clogged" I'm sorry but is it our job to pull out strangers hair from a clogged pipe?!)
- worm infestation in pool ( pool cleaner had to come twice to vacuum out thousands of worms)
- money stolen from home when we were gone. Small amount but nevertheless super violating.
Our local friend who picked us up at departure also warned us the hvac system was off and that we were lucky to make it out alive.
This truly was a house of horrors and anyone lured by the photos or description of home should be warned. Wish we were.

Sadly, in the 5+ years of renting our family summer home we’ve never experienced a guest quite like this one. False accusations were made from the start of their arrival ranging from a clogged shower on the second floor to a dirty bathroom on the first floor and now reading their review apparently we have a broken tv (not the case). Plumbers arrived within 2 days (not 3) and confirmed the drain was not clogged but did remove some hair, which is quite normal of any shower drain. The first floor bathroom was cleaned by our cleaning crew prior to guests arrival. We have yet to see photos of the guests claims.
On a rainy day guests noticed worms (pool company confirmed several, not thousands) in the pool, something we’ve never seen. Pool company arrived the same day to clean out the worms. Pool lights flickered on and off and we asked the pool company daily to fix the issue and were told they will get to it later in the week.
It became clear the guests were looking for any reason to either receive a refund and ultimately after their departure asked for one, threatening they will take action with VRBO if we do not offer a partial refund. We spoke with VRBO after guests accusations and sent across invoices both from the pool company for the cleaning of worms and plumbers for cleaning a “slightly clogged drain.” VRBO considered the issue to be resolved and no refund to be made.
We have the conversation documented as well. No threats were made on our part, rather a counterclaim made to guests that they were held responsible for the plumbers unnecessary visit and subsequent charges. We have yet to receive funds from guests.
Upon guests departure we were told they were missing money and they immediately placed the blame on anyone who serviced the home. Of course if true, we feel terrible but given the guests false claims this is likely yet another one. Guests did call the police, not regarding their missing money rather that our first floor bedroom had faulty electrical outlets. Police arrived at our home earlier this week, where they inspected the outlets and found no issues. A report will be sent to us soon which we will share with guests for their peace of mind. Case number is #010804-22 with the Southampton Police Department.
We welcome future guests to speak with us directly regarding this review if there are any concerns.
We had a great stay at Dominic’s property. He was extremely responsive to any queries and the property exceeded our expectations. Very comfortable, clean and in an excellent location. We would certainly return
Convenient location - close walk to restaurants, shops, Tate’s (!), train station and downtown Southampton. Great backyard with nice deck and grill, beautiful pool and fire pit. Dominic was very easy to get in touch with and helpful. Overall really nice stay!
