About this property
Classic Piha Bach - Seaview Road
Step into the charm of old-school Piha with this 1930s bach perched above the surf on Seaview Road. Simple, peaceful, and full of character, this one-bedroom retreat offers ocean views and a truly relaxed West Coast vibe—ideal for solo travellers, couples, or small groups looking to unwind.
This is the real deal—a no-frills, old-school Kiwi bach with separate living, kitchen, and bedroom space. The lounge is filled with natural light, perfect for curling up with a book, listening to the waves, or watching the weather roll in over the sea. The kitchen has all the basics for a comfortable stay, and the vintage bathroom adds to the home’s nostalgic charm.
The bedroom includes a double bed and a set of bunks, making it great for up to four guests. There’s also a fold-out couch in the lounge for extra sleeping space. Not ideal for children under 10 due to the layout and access.
What You’ll Love
• Good views of the Tasman Sea and Lion Rock from the deck
• Natural light-filled lounge, perfect for relaxing
• Authentic 1930s character and laid-back vibe
• Short walk to Piha Beach, The Piha Store, RSA, West Coast Gallery and Murray’s
• Peaceful, private setting surrounded by native bush
• Sleeps up to 4 (ideal for up to 3 adults)
• Wi-Fi available, so you can stay connected if you choose to.
Guest access
Guests have exclusive use of the bach and surrounding property (excluding the garage).
There is off-street parking in the gravel driveway for one car, but it is steep. If your vehicle sits low to the ground, it may be more practical to park on the roadside and walk up. The walk to the house includes a 90-year-old brick path that is uneven in places—please tread carefully, especially in wet weather. The path and incline are part of the authentic West Coast charm but may not be suitable for those with mobility concerns. This property is not wheelchair accessible.
Other things to note
This is our family bach, filled with memories and character. We have plans to restore it to its former glory, and your stay helps us bring that dream to life so it can be enjoyed for generations to come.
• The water is solar heated, so for a hot shower, it’s best to jump in before the sun goes down
• Bottled water will be provided for drinking
Looking for something simple, soulful, and close to the sea? This bach on Seaview Road is a throwback to classic Kiwi holidays—unfussy, unplugged, and unforgettable.
