This was an adorable cottage in a picturesque location. The cottage was clean and comfortable, right on the water. Additional friends stayed in the adjacent Heron cottage, and we joined them on the patio for a fire one evening as summer faded to autumn.

Fine for a short stay
A cute property, but the bathroom really needs a bit of updating and the 2nd "bedroom" with bunk beds is very, very small and only appropriate for small children.

Hi Susan, we’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
- Our unique waterfront guest cottages date back to the 1940s, and because of their unique location on pilings, literally over the water, they are grandfathered as they currently exist prohibiting us from any upgrades but decor and making minor repairs to the existing structures that do not require building permits. Hence a dated bathroom, which we always ensure is scrupulously clean. The second bedroom is listed on our site as featuring twin bunk beds and is admittedly extremely small, which is also reflected in our listing photos.
Thanks for letting us know about your stay!

small gem on the water
We loved the Osprey cottage. It was well appointed with a relaxing coastal vibe. The cottage was very clean and the patio area first class. The rooms were small but perfect for my husband and I. I LOVED having our coffee on the dock in the LLBean adirondack chairs. Freeport is a convenient location. We would definitely stay there again!
Nice tiny spot on the water in a cool neighborhood Pretty sunrises.
We were unable to connect to Wi-Fi which was disappointing.
The cottage could use an updated TV and toaster.
The cottage was cute. The placement of items was with purpose. My daughter and I loved the quaintness of it all. I have a son with down syndrome and he enjoyed the spacious patio. Everything is within 8 minutes; shopping, restaurants, grocery store. We were up for soccer the field was 8 minutes away. Highly recommend. It was the Outer Banks vibe, pogues vs kooks. :)

No Service
The place was cute. Wasn't aware the owner was right next door. Couldn't work due to not having any service at all. Not much to do around the cottage. And when weather is bad, there isn't anything in the cottage to do or really watch on the very old television. Cute, but will not be back

Hi Erica, we followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: Along with access information, we provide each guest with a set of instructions - both electronically prior to their arrival and printed and posted inside the cottage. It includes all of the informational items including internet access and other information, as well as advice that we were next door and our contact number to call if you needed anything. We wish you had reached out to us during your stay if there were any issues you needed to be addressed. We would have done everything we could to resolve them immediately so that you could enjoy the home. We would have been more than happy to re-set the router or provide anything else she needed. Thank you for letting us know about your stay.
Managed by another company and do not communicate using your VRBO preferences
In my settings on Vrbo I indicate to use my mobile number to communicate bc personal email is full of spam and things can get lost. The owners did not pay attention to my requests and blamed me. The check in process was also communicated this way even after I told them my preferences. The property is dated, but fine. They had none of the bare essentials like coffee or tea or sugar, so they might want to provide this, especially for people coming off of international flights like I was.

Cute cottage on the bay in Freeport, Maine
The location of the cottage was great in an adorable old neighborhood along the bay. Being able to sit out on the dock and enjoy the view of the Bay and walk the neighborhood was terrific! The cottage was spacious enough for the two of us in our group in communication was good with the homeowners. Unfortunately, the cottage was not as clean as it could have been and some of the things inside were a bit outdated and could use updating. Overall we had a great stay!
Great location, very quiet and peaceful. Short drive to lots of attractions and great restaurants. Only down side is very limited cell service but the WiFi works good.
Beautiful waterfront views! Great little cottage that had everything we needed for a family of 5 with three teen-young adult children. Had a great bonfire one night and started each morning on the dock with coffee. Coffee pot was dirty when we arrived. Nothing else to complain about!!!

Lovely Spot, A Lot of Rules
This is a nice little cabin on the water in South Freeport. The owners live steps away but if you are looking for a friendly experience, this isn’t it. Pretty pricey and you are expected to strip bed, sort trash and a host of other very specific rules. The second “bedroom” is the size of a walk in closet.

Hi Joseph, we're glad you enjoyed this cottage overall! The homeowners were surprised by your feedback, as they are accustomed to providing five-star stays. They would like to share the following:
- The departure instructions are standard for the vacation rental industry, and most of our house rules are there to ensure guests have a safe and comfortable experience.
- We do ask guests to sort trash, as the town requires the trash and recycling to be bagged separately. We're sorry if this was not to your liking.
- The second bedroom is small, as pictured, but the beds are comfy. We have tried to utilize the space as best as possible.
Thanks for your review. We are confident that future guests will continue to enjoy wonderful visits here!
Great stay, very cute cottage on the water. Extremely scenic and beautiful. Owners are very nice, responsive, and helpful. However no cell service for any of the providers nor working WiFi at the time. Great lobster shack down the street called Harraseeket Lunch & Lobster. Overall, highly recommend.
Adorable, clean cottage with beautiful views. It's was a 5 min. drive to downtown freeport. Bunk room is very small and better suited for children. Unfortunately the weather didn't really cooperate so we really didn't get a chance to visit the state parks near by but all in all a wonderful quiet place to get away and reconnect with family
We booked this perfect bayside cottage last minute and it was one of our most memorable family vacations. Steps to the property dock for paddle boarding, kayaking, boating, and morning mimosas sans the kids. A short walk to a highly rated marina seafood restaurant that lives up to the hype. A 5-10 minute drive to everything else, a mere 20 into downtown Portland. Hosts Greg and Deborah were so friendly and quick to respond and accommodating for all needs and they are on property. Hope to be back next summer. Absolute heaven here!
The cottage is perfect in terms of location, view and quaintness. It is near a ton of restaurants and the downtown area of Freeport. There is a fish shack on the water on the next street over that is awesome. We did find a couple things that could use some work, but it did not take away from the stay. The TV is OLD and you can hardly see it. The toilet rocks back an forth a bit and the bath tub drain is very slow. The A/C in the bedroom does not work at all. Other than that it was great. Please note I did not even bother to complain about those items so management was not informed. Property is fun and relaxing!
The cove where these cottages are is beautiful! We watched fosh feeding off of the dock, at midnight, and watched fog roll-in from the ocean. Cabin is located close to Freeport, but provides a quiet place to still get away from crowds. Cabin is a short walk to. good seafood, in a quiet neighborhood.

Perfect cottage right on the water
Beautiful, comfortable cottage right near Freeport. Hosts were very friendly and full of advice for good places to eat. Wake up and walk out to your own dock or sit out there on a nice evening.
