Very nice cabin to stay in, very quiet, beautiful views. Dave and Diana were very nice to work with. Dave took us out and have us some pointers on fishing even!
The Montana Spirit guest cabin was a perfect upper Madison / West Yellowstone experience! Plenty of space, comfortable beds, in an outstandingly beautiful location. You can feel the love the owners have put into creating a truly homey feel. We felt it as soon as we walked in. Diana and Dave were very welcoming and available when needed theoughout our stay. The kids loved it. Highly recommend!
David and Diana were the best hosts! From greeting us upon arrival, to checking in daily to make sure we had everything we needed. David taught my son how to fly fish. The both of them gave a lot of special little personal touches that makes this experience like none other! The sunrise over the mountains is breathtaking! The fishing exciting and easy to get to! If you want a Montana experience visit the Montana Spirit!

Christy and her family were an enjoyable group. It was a pleasure to have them share some of Montana's beauty at our lodge. They showed appreciation for every little thing we did for them. Their stay here made it more pleasurable for ourselves. Will always welcome them back.

First of all, good luck finding it, we were lost for an hour without cell service. Second, its a duplex and you have lots of neighbors. The people are fine, but even the wifi is just "good luck". We didnt stay, its not what we wanted.
Quiet location with Mountain View and Madison River access
My son and I were looking for a place out of town close to the Madison River so we could fish. This location was perfect. Easy acces to the river from the lodge as well as from multiple locations downstream. Stop at Galloup’s Slide Inn(Fly Shop) and they’ll set you up with what you need, caught some beautiful Rainbows and 2 large Browns 18”. We also spent two days visiting Yellowstone. The cabin is 37 minutes to West Yellowstone. I suggest stopping at Sweet Breeze Crepes in Island Park on your way to Yellowstone. Fantastic breakfast stop from a food truck with fresh cooked food….wish I knew about this before my last day. The cabin was very comfortable with a kitchenette and a shared living space(if other guest are there). We had the space to ourselves. The property owners are onsite and super friendly, invited us to hang out at the fire pit and was very relaxing. Great folks and checked in often to ensure our stay was pleasant. I definitely know where I’ll be staying during my next Fishing/Yellowstone trip, Montana Spirit Guest Lodge!!
We loved our stay. My family of 4 stayed in one unit, and my parents stayed in the other unit. We travelled back and forth to Yellowstone Park each day (a beautiful drive of a little less than 40 minutes), and fished the Madison River at the cabin in the evenings. The river is a short walk from the cabin, but cannot be seen from the cabin. Fishing is challenging on this stretch (a lot of fast water), but David walked the river with me, pointing out the slower pockets, and offered his advice on flies and rig setup. I was able to catch fish every night. I'm an experienced fly fisherman, but my novice 12-year old son was able to catch 2 fish in about 30 minutes. My only complaint is the cabin was a bit dank when we first entered. However, the condition cleared up quickly after opening up the windows.

Remote MT lodge
Beautiful setting, waking up every morning and seeing the mountains right out our windows was amazing. Getting to hear the Madison river made for a relaxing week.
Very remote; a 8-10 minute gravel drive to get to the home. There is a resident Hurd of antelope that live near by and we got to see them quite often.
This property is about 40 minutes from West Yellowstone so if you don't mind the drive then this property is perfect for family/friends gathering. It is very relaxing sitting on the porch in the evenings watching sunsets. We enjoyed our short stay while visiting Yellowstone National Park.
Nice cabin with a kitchenette. Good access to Yellowstone within 30min drive. Lots of great places to hike or fish within minutes of the cabin. We enjoyed the views of the Sunset from the porch.
We stayed at Spirit of Montana for4 days. It was an amazing experience. The sound of the Madison River, sunrise and sunsets in the mountains just made it a perfect stay.
David anf Diana were perfect host. They provided is everything and showed around the property. They came to show us the elks and deers that were saunter
We had an Amazing stay at Montana Spirit. It had everything we needed including fast WiFi. The views were amazing and Diana couldn’t of been nicer. We can’t wait to return!
What a great place! The owners, David and Diana, are absolutely the nicest hosts you will ever meet. Diana was there to greet us and show us around the 20 acre property, which borders the Madison River.
We rented the cabin, which is actually two units that mirror each other and shares a common living room. However, David and Diana do NOT rent out the second side of the cabin, unless you require the space for a large family/group, so you never share the common area with anyone you don't know. The cabin was the perfect size for my wife and I with our two kids. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed.
The surroundings were very peaceful. We slept with the windows open, so we could hear the sound of the river. At night, you can walk outside and see more stars than you ever knew existed. Additionally, it's only about 35 minutes from the west gate to Yellowstone NP.
Words will never describe how great this place is. We will certainly stay here again, if we ever find ourselves even remotely close to the area.
Thank You Diana and David!!!
Peaceful and serene with awesome views! A perfect place to recharge far enough away from the hustle of Yellowstone but close enough to get there in about 45 minutes! Diana and David are wonderful hosts!
They were some of the nicest and most polite people I have ever met. The cabin was so clean and relaxing we did not want to leave. We sat on the porch and just listen to the river. Such a beautiful location I would recommend Diana and David’s Montana Spirit cabins to anyone’s it was so great.
The Montana Spirit Guest Lodge is a very clean, comfortable and relaxing place! Diana and David are wonderful hosts, kind and pleasant and helpful! We will return!
Great place to stay close to the park but out of West Yellowstone
Diana and David were awesome! We got in VERY late and they still met us up the driveway to make sure we found the correct place. Antelope grazing in the yard in the morning, easy access to the Madison river, beautiful fields, and beaver ponds.
Thank you for sharing with us!
the owners are very kind and gracious people. The accomodations are excellent, very clean and exceptionally maintained, and the location is perfect for any stay in this area.
I'll be back soon!

About the host
Hosted by Diana and David Magistrelli
Diana is a retired cardiac nurse and has always enjoyed being around people. David is a consultant and is now Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Gallatine Valley. Both of us have always enjoyed the outdoors and have traveled west for many of our vacations. We decided, once we retired, that here in Montana is where we will make our home and run a Guest Lodge. Best decision we have made.
Why they chose this property
The property encompasses all of our dreams of owning a log home on 20 or more acres, with the Madison River in front of our home and close to Yellowstone National Park. Ideal for fishermen, tourists, and family reunions.
