About this property
Train Wreck Inn - The Blue Train Car
About this space
The Blue Train Car is a gem at the Train Wreck Inn - a retro train motel in Grand Coteau, LA! Vibrancy and efficiency make this unique stay on a retired mail car an unforgettable getaway.
Inspired by filmmaker Wes Anderson’s infamous color palettes, this space is complete with a record player, antique glassware, and a custom kitchen. Enjoy our courtyard’s hammock and seating areas, or take a stroll to the cafe and shops. The Blue Train Car is ready to take you on your next adventure in style.
The space
Located in the center of the quaint town of Grand Coteau, the Train Wreck Inn is the perfect spot to rest your head.
Your stay in the Blue Train car is sure to make special memories. Enjoy coffee, tea or a cocktail in the main room's warm glow that is casted through locally made stained glass. We suggest pairing this with the charm of a record spinning some old tunes! Time truly stands still here, if you let it.
Mingle in the beautifully landscaped courtyard or hop in the hammock for some quiet reading time in the shade. We have multiple seating areas to enjoy a meal or beverage outside. Take a stroll next door to the cafe or an antique shop.
Guest access
The courtyard is open to all guests to enjoy.
Parking for one vehicle per VRBO is available on site on Chatrian St, with additional public street parking on the front side of the motel (on Martin Luther King Dr.)
Other things to note
Our spaces are very old, compact and efficient, and we love that about them! Choices for layout and items on board were made based upon this. A few quick notes:
- TVs are available upon request - just let us know when you book. (Having no TVs is part of our style choice, but we’re happy to accommodate and want you to be cozy!)
- Keep in mind the Train Wreck Inn is composed of spaces that are old and quirky. We take pride in their condition and cleanliness, but note that they are actual pieces of history / not brand new.
- Kitchens are custom built and fully stocked. We provide an electric kettle and French press + local coffee and tea. (Instructions to use French press and electric stove are included in your Check In Guide. There is also an electric coffee pot in the cabinet if you prefer.)
