About this property
Come, relax, and enjoy true peace and beauty.
This cute as a button 2 bedroom 1 bath, 1200 sq/foot log cabin, is located in a private setting on 2.1 acres of wooded land. A master bedroom with king-size bed on the main floor, and a large loft with two full beds, above; a queen-size pull-out sofa bed in living room; linens supplied. Spacious main floor, with area encompassing living-room, dining-room, and kitchen, in an L-shaped layout. Large windows for natural light to stream in, propane gas heating system with ceiling fan. Large bathroom with shower and tub; access to which is through both master bedroom or living-room. Modern appliances and cookware in kitchen; plenty of counter-top and kitchen utensils with which to create a feast, or a snack. Full basement with washer and dryer. Screened-in porch at west-end of house (access from living-room), furnished with wooden lounging chairs, facing the harbor, 90 feet from water's edge; a short walk through gorgeously gnarled mossy spruce, and you'll have 340 feet of water frontage to enjoy. In backyard is a gas grill and a charcoal grill. Explore each nook and cranny of rocky coastline, or find your spot and watch the tide flow in and out. Spectacular sunsets are yours to behold every evening. Lay out on the flat grassy lawn and watch the clouds and bald eagles pass overhead, as the bouquet of garden flowers bob like buoys in the fresh-salted coastal breezes.

About the host
Hosted by Helen Magee and Dennis Magee

Dennis Magee grew up in Eastern Massachusetts but spent many years in Western Massachusetts during his attendance at UMass-Amherst. Helen Magee grew up in rural Western Massachusetts and graduated from Northampton Commercial College (NCC). We met in the Spring of 1973 at a Polish Polka dance in Hatfield, MA., and were married on June 1, 1974. We have two grown sons, and we currently live in a log cabin home in Groton, Massachusetts. Dennis is a botanist by profession and spent his career working at Normandeau Associates in N.H. as an Environmental Consultant. Helen was a career Executive Secretary at Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq and HP.
Why they chose this property
Dennis' environmental work placed him in Maine for many years. Each year on our anniversary we would travel to Maine on vacation and, we couldn't help but fall in love with Downeast Maine. With each passing anniversary, we started to explore what our options would be to have a little cabin somewhere on the coast of Maine -- somewhere way North of Bar Harbor so we could enjoy peace and tranquility and be away from summer tourism. We settled on a Bay property so that we would not be affected by Nor'easters. We feel blessed that we were able to accomplish our dream, and therefore we want to share this little cottage with others for a nominal price.
What makes this property unique
Located on a small island away from but still with reasonable access to a major population center. Small population of fishermen and lobstermen and small seasonal population of mostly retirees. Very quiet and peaceful. Facing west toward the sunset and away from the prevailing Northeast winds. Fresh seafood readily available within walking distance and at reasonable price. Numerous coastal hiking, boating, kayaking, fishing and bird-watching opportunities close near by. Truly a place for spiritual renewal.
