About this property
Grianán — A sunny place
Bring groups of any size to the spectacular Connemara, on the west coast of Ireland. Overseen by the magnificent Twelve Bens mountains and featuring truly epic scenery, the Connemara also boasts stunning white-sand beaches, one of which is right outside your back door. Grianán features three enormous bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, as well as three living rooms, a dining room, and a fourth WC. It's also right next door to the famous Connemara Sands Hotel and Spa.
Grianán is a 2.5-hour drive from Shannon Airport, a 3.5-hour drive from Dublin Airport, and a 1.5-hour drive from Galway train station. We're one of the westernmost points in Europe, the place that was the landing point for the first transatlantic flight (Alcock and Brown) and also the first radio transmissions, at the Marconi station here, the site of which is a must-see.
Connemara Sands Hotel and Spa is much more than a place to house your overflow guests. Your hosts Kathy and Dean will serve up spectacular local cuisine while looking after your body with saunas, seaweed baths, spa treatments and countless activities from padel to coasteering. The combination is unrivaled — enjoy your own 2,500 square-foot home for cooking, entertaining, and relaxing, while relying on the hotel for as many extra bedrooms as you need plus all the meals you don't want to make yourself. Derrigimlagh boasts the famous Keogh's restaurant, just around the corner, while both Clifden and Roundstone are within a gorgeous 15-minute drive. Also nearby: The Connemara Golf Links, designed by Eddie Hackett, world-class fly fishing at Ballynahinch Castle, and much more.
All three bedrooms are enormous and have en-suite bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed; one upstairs bedroom also has a king-sized bed, while the other has two twin beds. Both upstairs bedrooms, as well as the upstairs observatory, also have a double pull-out sofa. On top of that there's foldaway single bed, as well as a cot for babies.
