Private 2BR/2BA Basement Suite, Fenced Yard, Near Downtown Knoxville

Welcome to Smokey’s Hangout, a fully private 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom basement suite located on approximately half an acre in Fountain City, Knoxville.

Enjoy your own private entrance, kitchenette, two comfortable bedrooms, two full bathrooms, dedicated workspaces, and access to our fenced backyard. We’re conveniently located near Old Broadway, with easy access to Downtown Knoxville, UT, I-640, and the Knoxville Zoo. Sweet P’s BBQ and Wren House Coffee are both less than half a mile away.

We live upstairs, but your guest space is completely separate and private. We also have a toddler, so there may occasionally be some normal household noise during the day. We do our best to be respectful of our guests and follow the same quiet hours we ask of you.

Our goal is simple: provide a clean, comfortable, private place to stay while giving you the flexibility to enjoy Knoxville and East Tennessee at your own pace.

No parties, events, or gatherings beyond the registered guests are permitted.

Please park in the designated guest area near the large tree. Parking is available for up to 2 full-size vehicles.

The apartment was spacious and clean. Locating the house was a bit confusing since there was no street sign. We also felt that the host noise limitation request was vague and made us a bit uncomfortable. Given our stay was for one night, we all felt the apartment was beautiful and located conveniently near the university campus.

Excellent accommodations! Very clean, with easy check-in and host communications. We felt very safe in this home. Everything is nearby. There are a couple of things to note, you need to request access to washer and dryer which is noted in the listing; no access to temperature control in unit - temperature change must be requested.

Only way I can summarize this stay was 100% recommend. Anne the host was off the charts she responds and meets your needs. The kitchenet worked fine for us we don't cook anyway. And everything is disclosed in the profile not handicapped accessible etc. If I ever return to a confrence here this where I will stay. Thanks Anne.

Nick and Anne are both from different parts of Tennessee and met while attending college at TTU in Cookeville — go Golden Eagles! After traveling during the early years of our relationship, we eventually put down roots in East Tennessee. We love Knoxville, especially the outdoors, real estate, home improvement projects, and cheering on the Vols at UT baseball games. We enjoy hosting and sharing our little corner of East Tennessee with visitors from near and far.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because it gives us the best of both worlds — a quiet residential setting with easy access to everything Knoxville has to offer. We’re close to Old Broadway, Downtown Knoxville, UT, and I-640, making it easy to explore the city or head toward Sevierville and the Great Smoky Mountains.

We also love being close to local favorites like Sweet P’s BBQ, Wren House Coffee, Tequila Amigos, and Pratt’s Market. It’s a convenient location without feeling like you’re staying right in the middle of the city.

What makes this property unique

Smokey’s Hangout is named after our Manx cat, Smokey, who loved the privacy and coolness of the basement when we first moved in.

The space is a fully private 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom basement suite with its own entrance, kitchenette, two workspaces, and access to our half-acre fenced backyard.

What makes Smokey’s Hangout special is the combination of privacy, space, and location. You get your own comfortable space to relax while still having the convenience of being close to Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains.

We also love adding personal touches throughout the year and decorating for the holidays. Our goal is to make Smokey’s Hangout feel less like a generic rental and more like a comfortable place you’ll actually enjoy coming home to.
