Incredible property! It was perfect. Everything in the house was as beautiful as advertised and we especially enjoyed the back deck with the mountain view and easy to use fire pit. I only have high praise for the whole experience and would rent this place again in a second.
We spent a wonderful 4 days at this Shenandoah home. It’s close enough to Front Royal to be able to grab a meal, but far enough away to forget there is anything but the mountains surrounding you.
We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and as pictured. The views are gorgeous and the house had everything we needed, felt like home. Would definitely recommend.
Cute place, clean, well stocked with the basics. Beds are very comfortable. The view is fantastic. Its quiet, secluded, and peaceful. I loved the kitchen. I found myself wishing some of the windows had curtains or drapes. The furniture was a bit dated, i was wanting a more substantial couch. Overall 9/10

This house was the perfect location for us to enjoy hiking and wineries. The house is roomy and comfortable with amazing views. We loved having dance parties on the large deck!
Their home was a modern comfortable mountain getaway. We enjoyed beautiful views off the deck from early morning to well into the evening. And their hospitality was attentive and exceptional. We loved our stay and would go back in a minute.
The views were just as advertised. Welcoming and communicative hosts. Great launching pad to explore Shenandoah and surrounding areas, or just to relax with a great view.
Just perfect! We really enjoyed our stay here. The views were so beautiful and it’s such a nice house! Great experience with the owners too. Thank you!!

If you do return we are upgrading our Wi-Fi to Starlink for remote work!
Great place to stay. We loved the location which was central to many historical sites that we visited. The fall colors were wonderful. The home is very clean and well appointed. We would certainly recommend and return if the opportunity presents itself. It a nice quiet place to stay.
We had a wonderful time at this house. So beautiful and clean and relaxing! Lots of thoughtful details like all the stuff for kids and hiking books about the area.
Just a spectacular property and the owners are very quick at communicating. We loved it so much that we came back for a second stay a month later. Everything is perfect at this property. Close to the National Park and Front Royal when you want to venture out. Don't hesitate to stay here at this property.
View from main living area is hard to beat. Better is the walk out front door access to good hike.

About the host
Hosted by Bill and Stephanie Talbot
Hello from Bill and Stephanie Talbot. In 2015 we built our dream home, Whispering Oaks, in the Shenandoah Mountains. Having traveled extensively for the military, we now teach at a local community college and are avid hikers. We love our community and the outdoors so much we wanted to share it with others. We are now proud to offer Whispering Winds for families and friends to gather in the mountains to revel in the starlit skies, to enjoy the River, the hiking, the farm markets, the quaint country festivals and especially to relax and get away from it all. It is our hope that you come to Whispering Winds as guests and leave as friends. Bill and Stephanie
Why they chose this property
This property was purchased and developed because of our love for hiking and the outdoors. We wanted people to be able to enjoy a full weekend in the area, so keeping the travel time of 90 minutes from DC was very important to us. This property gives travelers a quick get a way to a serene mountain retreat.
What makes this property unique
The views speak for themselves! The starlit skies at night are free of ambient light and are a mesmerizing delight after a day on the mountains or river. Don't forget to gather around the fire pit for smores and friendship and fun.
