About this property
Charming Riverfront Vermont Farmhouse
Charming old Vermont farmhouse on 1.4 acres next to a beautiful brook and historic stone bridge. Swim on our property, or drive 5 minutes to the West River! 30 minutes from Brattleboro and Manchester, 20 minutes to Stratton and Mt Snow, lots of hiking, biking, and swimming nearby.
Built in 1830, our home is a cozy blend of handhewn beams and slanted floors and modern furniture and decor. Enjoy a brand new bathroom (of vintage-inspired style) with a deep soaking tub, farmhouse kitchen, wavy glass windows, and two working woodstoves.
Picnic in the yard under string lights, go for an evening run or bike ride on the West River trail, or just lay on the couch and read with a cup of tea.
We have an easy to use Roku TV (with Max included, sign in to other apps) and great wifi.
We live in a cute tiny village called West Townshend. There's a beautiful walking path along the West River just down the road from us (10 min walk), and several hikes nearby. The country store is a 3 minute walk and serves amazing wood-fired pizza with live music from 5-7 every Friday, plus a farmer's market in the summer, and burgers Tues night. Pizza goes all winter. Jamaica is another adorable village about 6 mins down the road with a wonderful VT general store. Larger grocery store is about 10 mins away. Chester, Grafton, Bellows Falls, Wilmington are all within about 30 mins and have cute shops, antiques, etc. Happy to answer questions about the area. We have some snowshoes and cross country skis you could borrow if interested.
This is our 2nd home, so our toys, books, and kitchen items will be in plain sight (and available to use), We spent the last 5 years living here and fixing up the space.
Well behaved pets are welcome. Our dog thinks she's died and gone to heaven after moving here from NYC, and we are happy to share the space. The yard is mostly fenced but open to the backwoods - so it's possible to run away if a dog wanted to. Ours hangs out unleashed all day outside.
We have a bjorn travel crib, a stokke infant tub, and a travel potty you're welcome to use - just let us know in advance.
There's a master with a king bed downstairs (with bay windows that look out on the yard), a queen bedroom with desk upstairs, and a child's room with twin bunk beds. A small cute kitchen, dining room/entryway, and a large lovely lofted living room that overlooks a rushing brook and historic stone bridge. One newly and carefully renovated bathroom in vintage style.
