Easy day trips are Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park, the Midway Museum, and Balboa Park with its many theaters, museums and exhibits. Disneyland and Knott's Berry farm are reasonable day trips as well. Only an hour away with good traffic.
