Lakestone Cottage is located on Long Lake, near Traverse City. It has its own private dock, a sandy bottom at the shallow shoreline leading out to the pristine deep blue water. Perfect for adults, children, and dogs. The spectacular sunset views, directly across the lake, and the calling of the loons create a seldom experienced serenity. The cottage, built in 1936, is one of the few original homes in the area, and the property of choice for all the right reasons! The well maintained, picturesque stone cottage, features panoramic picture windows to enjoy the water and sunset views, and a true retro kitchen to help recall the mid-century simpler, relaxed lifestyle. A remodeled bathroom, TV, along with wireless broadband Wi-Fi, and central air conditioning provides the expected current necessities. The kitchen is also outfitted with a microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot, and a washer and dryer.
Long Lake Township, Traverse City, MI Short Term Rental Ordinance states that only one boat may be moored, and while four persons may stay overnight, another two persons are allowed to visit until 10:00 p.m. This is not a party place!
2,900 acre Long Lake, just a 9-minute drive from downtown Traverse City, is known for its walleye and perch fishing, and is one of the larger lakes in NW Michigan. Four single-seated kayaks and life jackets are stored on site and ready for you to use. Lake Boat Rental enables you to enjoy all this beautiful lake has to offer - power boats, SUP's, and pontoon boats. There are four islands with sandy beaches and hiking trails waiting to be explored. Two marked moorings are provided at the end of the dock to moor a boat overnight, and extra parking is adjacent to the garage for boat trailer parking. The Long Lake boat launch is just minutes away.
The fire pit near the shore beckons to be used for an enjoyable evening of roasting smores while watching the sunsets. In the mood for ice cream instead? Visit Moomers Homemade Ice Cream, and it's only about 3 miles from the cottage. The large lawn is wonderful to play yard games, and there is also a patio table and chairs to dine al fresco. A gas grill and utensils are available to help provide quiet relaxation from a day of sight-seeing, touring wineries/breweries, biking the trails, fishing, touring the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park. It's no wonder National Geographic Magazine voted the Grand Traverse area one of the top ten family vacation spots in the world. Lakestone Cottage is the perfect home base for a week or two of exploring, and playing hard, or as a sweet little hide-a-way for some quiet time. There is absolutely no smoking inside the cottage. If you decide to smoke, please dispose of the cigarette butts properly. Although this is a pet friendly cottage, please do not let your pets on the furniture, including the beds.
All linens, full cooking and dining ware, coffee pot filters, dishwasher and laundry detergent, paper towels, tissues, and TP are included to help accommodate your stay. There are full-size grocery stores and gas stations that are just 5 miles away. Each bedroom has a queen bed that sleeps two, and is outfitted with high quality bedding and towels.
One half payment at time of reservation, with the balance due 30 days prior to stay. June, July, and August are full week rentals only. Check in/out are on Saturdays.
May, September, and October are a 3-night minimum. Please note off-season special rates.
Cancellation policy is if you cancel 30 days before, you get 100% refund.
If you cancel 15 - 29 days before, you will get a 50% refund,
If you cancel less than 14 days, you will get 0% refund.
