About the host
Hosted by Judith (Judy) LeFevre
Originally from the midwest, I relocated to the Sonoran Desert with my family 30 years ago. I'm a parent of 2 grown children and 2 young grandsons who melt my heart. A career educator, I worked for many years in local schools, then took a mad leap to Manhattan for 2 years to help launch a new middle school in Washington Heights, as well as consulting with middle and high schools in the city. After my return to the Sonoran Desert, I took an Asst. Professor position with the College of Education at Northern AZ University and eventually semi-retired, settling into my sweet home. I'm active in volunteer work with Mission Garden, Cyclovia, and the local food bank. I enjoy cycling, hiking, reading, music, movies, and gardening -- as well as dabbling in various art projects with natural/found materials.
Why they chose this property
Rosemont West neighborhood is a well-established and peaceful neighborhood in central Tucson. My 2 BR home is a peaceful respite, and the 5 mesquite trees on my property provide ample shade in hot Tucson summers. I enjoy watching urban wildlife (including migrating birds) that visit the area, including an owl family in nearby Hoffman Park. There is also a Cooper's hawk that enjoys visiting my yard. The neighborhood is walkable with intersecting N/S and E/W bikeways close by, Stores and restaurants are nearby, and my location is a relatively short distance to University of Arizona museums and events. Neighbors are friendly, and our dogs enjoy seeing one another on daily walks in the nearby park. Larger Reid Park, with a rec center and golf course, as well as walking/bicycling paths, is just a couple of miles from my front door.
What makes this property unique
My property has a peaceful and spacious yard, both front and back, and the large covered patio (with 2 fans and a small fountain) and rear French doors are always a "big wow" with visitors. I love the outdoors, so I work to create and maintain a yard (with mostly native plants) that is very welcoming, with different spaces for relaxing during the day, enjoying meals, sitting around the fire bowl in the evenings, or using the saucer tree swing. I think the space is truly unique in my neighborhood, and I'm hopeful all of my guests will relax and enjoy their time here.
