Nice comfortable Cabin. Excellent location. Communication with Host wasn't immediate, responded next day to my request that there were no paper towels or napkins in House. Also I had to deal with a stopped up toilet in the Main Bathroom which was no fun. Host offered to reimburse me for Paper towels, etc... But I would stay there again!
We very much enjoyed staying at this home. I will say that the photos of the listing do not do it justice and should be updated. We almost did not book the house because my wife said that the photos made it look scary and old. But the home was anything but that. It was beautiful. Like all other reviews said, the steps down to the water will just about take you out. It was EXHAUSTING to say the least. But it was beautiful if you are brave enough to make the journey down. The back porch is worth the price of admission. We spent a LOT of our time out on the porch swinging and enjoying our time.
This home is beautiful - and the owners clearly take pride in this special place. Down to the smallest detail, the home is beautiful. The back porch is a perfect spot to relax and the dock is large with a beautiful view. The sunset pictures we took here were stunning. Thank you, Jack, for your communication and help with answering questions.
This house is so comfortable and cozy it felt like home! We could feel the love shared there. It was on point from how it presented online. The dock and lake and view amazing! Communication with the host superb from the beginning and so well appreciated! We can’t wait to come back again soon! We feel very blessed to have stayed there!
We had a wonderful time at this home. It's pet friendly and rustic. The porch overlooking the lake was what drew me to it online. I was not disappointed. the beds were comfortable and the atmosphere welcoming. We enjoyed our stay!
My family stayed here and we had a wonderful time! The cabin is cozy, well stocked, and a great location! It is full of wonderful amenities: screened in porch, games for kids, paddleboard and upscale lounge chairs on the dock, etc. The house was a great lake location, very quiet and peaceful. We had an awesome time and are grateful for memories made.
This was exactly as listed. The home was big enough for both family that stayed.’there are a lot of steps to the dock but kids didn’t mind. We didn’t have a boat with us so we didn’t get to experience the full lake. We did find a book in the kitchen that listed close parks to visit, thanks for that, we found a beautiful state park with a river that all kids could swim in. Loved the porch swing. Really enjoyed our stay.

Lake house
I haveto say I was disappointed when o arrived, there was 2 dog beds on the master bed , a vacuum cleaner in the room with the cord loose. Place was very dusty also, was not child proof. I had a knee replacement last December so I was not able to go down to the lake, very disappointed
The house was great. Exactly as described. Stairs were exactly as reported. Doable. Nice dock. Could use more cabinet space for our supplies. Don’t like to use other folks things. Cleaned out dressers would be a plus. Felt like I was sharing space with the owner without the owner being there. LOVE the back porch. Could live there. You have a lovely home. Thanks for sharing. Go Clemson.
This property was just perfect! From the back porch swing to the kitchen to the lake!!!
We made life long memories here. Simply put, the house was perfect and well supplied! The back porch swing was a family favorite. Fishing from the dock and swimming our days away was just a perfect way to spend the days.
My only consideration for this house is if you have difficulty with stairs it would be hard to get back and forth to the lake.
But the house was just beautiful! The dock was perfect! Can’t recommend this one enough!!
Beautiful house; clean, roomy and has everything you need. Lots of areas and chairs to sit in and relax. The screened in porch overlooking the lake is wonderful. Beds are comfortable and linens are quality. It is a great location. The two refrigerators were much appreciated as we brought food and drinks for 6 people and a baby for 6 days. We never left the house. Only challenge is 100 steps down the hill to the dock, but it was worth it. Thanks to Jack for promptly answering all my questions and sharing your wonderful place with us.
Our New Year's rental was cancelled last minute and we were desperately searching for a place the night before and luckily found the Lakehouse. The house looks even better in person, so spacious and welcoming. We had everything we needed and more for our family getaway including all the kitchen essentials. It felt like a home away from home. It was a chilly muggy weekend so we were disappointed to learn the fireplace was not available due to a previous renter. That would be the only complaint, our stay was lovely and communication was great. I would highly recommend the Lakehouse!
We loved sitting on the porch and the fabulous dock in the evenings! The house was very well stocked with everything you may need (appliances, grill, charcoal, etc.). Jack was very generous and let us use the covered slip for our boat while there.
For the negatives:
The house had a pretty strong dog smell from previous renters. I can tell they’ve tried their best to clean up after incidents. We ended up buying Febreeze to try to mask the smell during our stay.
I feel the number of steps (102!) down to the dock should be noted in the description.
For the most I really enjoyed the house and the lake. The house was nice, comfortable, and clean. However some of the lights in the house didn’t work. Also some of the light switches seemed complicated. If multiple switches controlled the some lights it almost seemed like you had to have them in a certain order to use the switch. But overall the house was enjoyable.
Overall property was absolutely beautiful. Only downside was our boats and the climb. You cannot drive a boat and trailer down to the cabin AT ALL, the driveway is incredibly steep. The dock is beautiful but there is 102 steps almost straight up to get to the cabin.
The cabin was absolutely beautiful, just did not expect that steep of a driveway or stairs, it was mentioned in the description, but not to that extent. I do not want to take away from the beauty of the property, however. So if you are in shape, and you’re not bringing a boat, I highly recommend.
Our family had a fantastic stay at this house on Lake Hartwell! We've rented several homes over the years at Lake Hartwell for family vacations, and this might have been our favorite home so far. The house is laid out very well and they had everything that we needed during the stay. The dock was particularly impressive, and we all mentioned that it was the best dock we'd used on Hartwell (great area to pull-in your boat, lots of seating, a huge umbrella for shade, and lots of places for the kids to jump in).
Jack was an excellent communicator during the whole process, and he answered the few questions that we had during the trip very quickly. Several reviews have mentioned the amount of steps from the house to the dock, and there's a lot of them. As long as you know that it's a legit climb up and down each time, then it's not a surprise. You just have to take your time if needed (my 71 year old parents went up and down several times each day and they made it just fine).
We really enjoyed our stay, and we would stay here again in the future.
Nice clean home! Needs some maintenance and full body workout to dock!
Our stay was overall nice. The home was clean and there was plenty of room. The house however is in need of some maintenance. Upon arrival the lighting for the stairs would not work and it's a dark area. The breaker was tripped, and we had to figure out which switch was tripping it and leave that light off to get stair lights working. In the master bath for some reason the toilet overflowed from the bottom out of the blue while it was not being used. The room under the stairs which we did not have to use smelt really bad like mold or something. We could not get any programming on the downstairs tv and the porch swing fell on one side while 1 person not swinging was sitting on it. Upon inspection we noticed many holes in the ceiling where it appeared it had fell many times before. We also had to move the owners boat because they didn't have time to move it and we had to move it back when we left. The dock is in desperate need of some more cleats for tying up the boats. The listing for this rental should include a photo of how steep and how many stairs there are to the lake. Besides myself and spouse the rest of our group was in their 20's and the hike was ruff on them not to mention us. There is no running back to the house if you forget something. The steep hike from the dock really was the main takeaway. We rented the house to enjoy a weekend on the water and would have spent more time doing that except the dreaded stairs back up to the house. Older people and people with small kids should be fully aware of the stairs leading to the dock.
We only live about an hour away and wanted a long weekend for 6 adults. The house was very clean, has a beautiful screened porch and deck on the back as well as a very nice dock on deep water on lake Hartwell. We had a wonderful time. There was plenty of room for 6 of us and there were actually a few more places to sleep so several more people could and gone with us. The kitchen had more than enough pots pans plates cups small appliances, even three different coffee makers. Thank you for sharing your lake home!
The house was great ended up being bigger then we needed but being aloud to have our fur babies with us at Xmas was great ... Would love to totally check it out again when weather was better so we could enjoy all the house has ... A definite go back to
We stayed here and our Clemson children met us there to spend the weekend. It was a great getaway for them, about 30 minutes from campus.
The house was great! Well decorated, spacious, and had everything we needed in the kitchen! Listing said electric smoker was available, so we planned our menu around that; however, it was so filthy—whomever used it before didn’t clean it, so that was a bummer.
Being on the lake was great—lots of steps to get to the water from the house! The dock was really nice and the kids enjoyed laying out. (The water was too low for swimming, but still enjoyed the great view!)
My favorite feature was the screened-in porch! So cozy—perfect for relaxing!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable lake house. The pictures actually didn’t do it justice, better in real life. Lake was beautiful and dock was so nice to be able to relax and enjoy. Loved the loungers and umbrella down there.
The porch was so cozy and such a relaxing place to spend time reading or hanging out with family.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. Would definitely rent again.
