The stay that never happened.
We were scheduled for a three night stay in April, 2020 but the trip was cancelled due to the coronavirus. The cruise we were going to take after our stay was cancelled, so there was no reason to try to make the trip. Full rental payment had already been sent in (we were so close) and we received a 50% refund. It would have been nice to have had a total refund under these extreme circumstances, but it was not to be. Marianne was very nice to work with at all times. Maybe it will happen at a later date.
This reservation was among the first to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus. I was very sorry not welcoming Neil and his group. I truly wish I'll get the chance at a later time. Many thanks for your choice and your kind comments Neil.
Great location, Great host
Marianne was quickly responsive to all of our communication before and during our stay. She met us upon arrival and explained everything perfectly and left nice written instructions and local recommendations. From the balcony/dining room was an amazing view of the Parthenon. From this location, we walked to all of the sites in Athens - the acropolis, Hadrian’s Library, the great neighborhood of Ministiraki and even to the top of Mount lycabetus and back. We had a short walk to the train when we took the train to the ferry to visit an island. The rooms were spacious and nicely furnished. I highly recommend this apartment and would stay there again.
A comment much appreciated, from lovely guests spending 9 nights with us at the AURA to celebrate the New Year. Welcoming back Lillian and the whole family would be a real pleasure in the future as they had a true desire to discover Greece and this always adds to our pleasure to providing a few good tips ! Thank you Lillian!
Amazing location very near the Acropolis
This review is for 5 couples, ranging in age from mid 40s to late 70s.
Marianne is an extremely efficient and effective host. We had no trouble making the reservations, all communications were very timely and the last minute requests we had to arrange for transportation etc. were all handled in a very timely, cheerful and friendly manner. Overall, her professionalism shines through and she epitomizes the high standard of Greek hospitality.
Again, Marianne was very flexible in allowing 1 couple in our group to check in early and then be available while the rest of us checked in since we were arriving from 3 different corners of the globe.
The flat itself is very spacious and looks like it has been recently redone. The spacious dining area with the large windows was perfect for gazing out onto the street and letting the air in as needed. The rooms were average sized per most European standards (read small per American standards) but were very clean and professionally done in anticipation of our arrival. The kitchen is on the smaller side - but was not a problem since we ate out almost every meal. There was a book that Marianne had prepared that outlined activities and dining and shopping in the neighborhood and she was spot on in her recommendations. The bathrooms were great except for 2 items. In 1 bathroom you could not flush toilet paper down due to plumbing issues - you had to toss the used paper in a garbage can. This might be a concern to American visitors who cannot live without flushing toilet paper. There was a second bath room that occasionally had a smell of sewage - but that was not consistently there. Otherwise the bathrooms were nice and very functional.
The location and neighborhood was amazing. There are restaurants within walking distance and the acropolis is very close. We had several folks above the age of 60 and they found the location and accessibility very convenient. There is also an elevator to bring the guests to the 3rd floor which was also much appreciated.
All in all this was an amazing stay and we enjoyed being in Athens and Marianne's hospitality. I would definitely stay here again.
We had 4 couples in our group, first time traveling to Greece and we wanted a place we could all be together. This apartment was perfect. Each couple had their own bedroom and bath. The location was perfect and Marianne made great recommendations for restaurants and nearby stores. I would definitely recommend this property
Beautiful Apartment for a Group
Marianne was so welcoming and really great to work with. Our group of 8 had the best time in Athens mostly because Marianne’s apartment was perfect for us. So spacious and such a great layout. The location was ideal and made it easy to get around. You really can’t go wrong with the A.U.R.A Apartment.
So appreciative of such a lovely feedback! Hosting Carol and friends was simply great.

About Marianne Nemtsoglou
I've had the pleasure of welcoming visitors at the Acropolis Unique Residence Apartments (A.U.R.A), our privately owned apartment building in Thission - Athens, for the last few years. I enjoy meeting travelers and assist them in their discovery. I truly believe a nice warm smile at the end of one's visit is what is mostly appreciated and treasured from both sides.
Marianne Nemtsoglou purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Marianne Nemtsoglou chose Athens City Centre
The building was built on our own forces between 2000 and 2005. I know its secrets, its weaknesses and its advantages well enough to keep aiming at continuously improving it. I feel privileged to leave in the same building and in the area of Thission, possibly the most appealing neighborhood of all in Athens.
What makes this Apartment unique
The view and the energy of the Acropolis ....
