- • DIRECTIONS: Check in is at 4pm and checkout is by 11am. When you arrive in San Diego, you can reach the property easily from either of the two main, central freeways: Interstates 5 or Interstate 8. DIRECTION FROM AIRPORT: Follow directions for 5 North from the arrival terminal, take 5 North out of downtown, go West on the 8 freeway (shortly after you pass Old Town). Follow the below directions for 8 West thereafter. 5 NORTH: If you are driving north on the Interstate 5, follow to the 8 Freeway and go west (or left) on the 8. Follow the below directions for 8 West thereafter. 8 WEST: If you’re driving west on the 8 freeway, follow until it ends at a traffic light. You will be turning left, but make sure you are in the right lane of the light. Once green, turn left, but bear right, onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd (Keep the baseball fields to your immediate right). SCROLL DOWN TO “LOCAL INSTRUCTIONS” FOR FINAL DIRECTIONS 5 SOUTH: If you’re heading south on the 5 freeway, take the Sea World Dr. exit, turn right off the exit ramp. Follow it for a few miles, past Sea World and over the Sunset Cliffs Bridge, where you approach a traffic light. Head straight, but bear right bear right onto Sunset Cliffs Blvd. (Keeping the baseball fields to your immediate right). Continue on Sunset Cliffs Blvd., SCROLL DOWN TO “LOCAL INSTRUCTIONS” FOR FINAL DIRECTIONS LOCAL INSTRUCTIONS IF YOU HAVE ARRANGED IN ADVANCE FOR THE SMALL PARKING SPACE Continue on Sunset Cliffs Blvd., Pass West Point Loma Blvd, make a right at the next light onto Voltaire St. Follow Voltaire past Cable, past Bacon and turn left on Abbot St. Take the first left into the alley before the laundromat (if you reach Muir Ave you have gone too far). Head up the alley to about half way until you see a white building with red trim on the right and two parking spaces side-by-side, perpendicular to the alley. The second space, which is NOT yours, is behind the back of a white shed. The first space is the one you will be using so make a wide turn into the space, and pull all the way up until you touch the pole protecting the fence. From there you will see the gate that leads into the property. Walk through the gate and there will be a building on the right with two doors. Yours is the door on the left with "5054" on the sign by the door. The key box is under the sign. The combination is 345. IF YOU HAVE ARRANGED IN ADVANCE FOR THE LARGE PARKING SPACE: Continue on Sunset Cliffs Blvd., Pass West Point Loma Blvd, make a right at the next light onto Voltaire St, go two blocks and turn left on Bacon Ave. make the first right down the alley (right after the 7-11 and before Muir Ave). The parking spot is about half-way down the alley, on the left side. You will see two spots, perpendicular to the alley, you will notice the spot on the left is longer and is behind the back of a white shed. From there you will see the gate that leads into the property. Walk through the gate and there will be a building on the right with two doors. Yours is the door on the left with "5054" on the sign by the door (not to be confused with 5054 1/2) The key box is under the sign. STREET PARKING - Just GPS 5056 Muir Ave 92107. Park on that street, walk through the gate between the two cottages (Combo AHM) and to the building in the back. This building has two doors, yours is the first on the left - 5054 The key is in the lock box located on the wall by the front door. The combination is 345. Enter the combination and slide down the black toggle and the face plate will slide off. In order to put the face plate back on the box, re-enter the combination. Also, the front gate may be locked. If so, the combo for that is AHM. The back gate is locked at night and there is a key for that hanging on the hook inside your front door. Please wash your dishes and otherwise straighten up the place so that the cleaning crew can start scrubbing. Please leave the dirty linens on the floor next to the kitchen back door. Put the keys back in the lock box. Please make sure everything is locked up. We would love it if you left us a note in the journal. Pictures and art work are great too. We also would greatly appreciate hearing ideas about what we can do to improve the property, and/or our service. THE RULES (don’t worry, there are just a few) Please No smoking inside the cottage. (The deck is a great place to enjoy a smoke). When returning from the beach, please wash off the sand with the hose outside the front door. Please, please, please do not bring sand into the shower as it clogs the plumbing. Please do not put anything in the toilet bowl except for the provided toilet paper. This includes paper towels or feminine hygiene products, which will also clog the plumbing. Please plug your hair dryer into the outlet behind the bathroom door or it will blow a circuit. CHECKOUT is at 11am. Please leave the dirty linens on the bathroom floor. Clean, dry and put away the dishes. Put the keys back in the lock box. Remember you have to re-enter the combination (345) to put the face plate in place. Please make sure everything is locked up. And finally, the most important rule - have a great time! This is mandatory. RULES FOR PET OWNERS Please hose down your dog and dry him with a towel when returning from the beach. Please do not let your pet jump or lie on the furniture. If the animal is predisposed to do this when you aren’t looking, keep the furniture covered with a protective blanket. Please immediately clean up after your dog does his or her, um, business. HOUSE AND PROPERTY INFORMATION: • There is a fire extinguisher in the nook under the kitchen counter. • WIFI: There are two Wifi networks. #1 works better in the bedrooms while #2 works better in the living room and kitchen. Network 1: F9346C / password 2DV324UV00D1B (all caps) Network 2a and b: Zombie Die and Zombie Die lite (don’t laugh, my nephew did that). Zombie Die lite is the most reliable of the two zombies, but try both and see which works best. Password for both is 6192615664. • Heed your parking signs! Street sweeping on the North Side of Muir Avenue is the first Wednesday of every month (between 10am and 1pm) and the first Thursday of the month on the south side. They WILL ticket you, so beware. When in doubt, check the signs. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have purchased a parking space in advance, it is important to enter the alley from the correct end. It's a very tight area in that alley so if you have secured the LARGE parking space, you need to enter the east (Bacon St) end of the alley and enter the west (Abbot St) end of the alley for the SMALL parking space. • We do not have cable TV, rather, we provide Apple TV which hosts various apps and services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, ESPN, ABC, PBS, History Channel, A&E and more. We have found this is a lot better than basic cable as you have access to thousands of movies and TV shows. The Apple TV Manual is in the basket with the remotes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. • Additional linens, beach towels, back up toilet paper and other supplies are in the bathroom linen closet. • Garbage and recycling pails are in the alley. Just go out the back gate and look to the left. The Blue pails are for recycling. Trash is picked up on Mondays. • LAUNDRY ROOM: The Laundry room is in the walkway behind the duplex. Just take the walkway between the cottage and the duplex and turn right behind the duplex.
