A beautifully designed FUN house on the lakefront with playful, inspiring interiors and gardens designed by Landscape Architect Brendan Moar, in one of the best spots right on the lake at Lake Tabourie on the stunning South Coast of NSW.
This shack has been transformed into one of Lake Tabouries most exciting new additions. A recent transformation, the shack (now, more than ever) captures the spirit and fun of classic Australian beach house life. The shack opens up via bifolds, french doors and louvres to embrace it's beautiful surroundings. The verandah has a stunning aspect out across the lakeside garden and over Lake Tabourie. A fire pit/bbq/hammock takes centre stage of the lakeside garden and will become the focus of your evenings at the lake. The gardens are fully fenced and every part has somewhere to sit, and take it all in. Feel free to help yourself to the herb garden.
There is no TV, but there is WiFi, so you can stay connected and watch NetFlix if you must. There are board games and an awesome record player and a pretty damn fine vinyl collection. The shack is a thoughtfully put together interior (and exterior) and we ask that you be respectful and treat it with love and as you would if it were own. Vibe is an important part of your whole experience, so by night be sure to the advantage of all the greats lamps and dimmers on all the light switchers - HA! ever read that in an AIRbnb thingo before?
Right on the lake, you can fish from your front yard, or take out one of the two kayaks and cruise around Lake Tabourie or out to the beach. Simply walking to the beach (which takes about 7 minutes) is a beautiful experience, along the lake edge through stunning Australian South Coast bush. Lake Tabourie has a very special nostalgic spirit that is becoming rarer and rarer to find. Quiet and peaceful, its a place for making and sharing beautiful hearty meals, exploring on foot or taking trips by car to countless world class beaches, lakes, estuaries, and bush walks (or 'hikes' as the kids under 35 insist on calling them now)
SLEEPING SPACES - IMPORTANT!!!! Please note there are limited options on this website to accurately describe the sleeping spaces so here goes - There are TWO bedrooms and a SLEEP OUT. Both bedrooms have a queen size bed. The sleep-out/sunroom opens off the front yellow bedroom (refer to the photos) and has a yellow and white striped queen size floor mattress which is very comfortable.

We had a great stay, the location is excellent with a great view over the lake and the cottage is so well equipped. We loved the retro style and listening to records while relaxing on the verandah.
Loved staying here!
easy to relax into a week of downtime with the view straight onto the lake, walking to the beach, house is well supplied with nice linen, kitchen stuff, a record player and great vinyl collection, kayaks, and two bathrooms which made life with our teenagers simple.
Not to mention it’s the suavest looking holiday rental I’ve ever stayed in.
Loved our stay here. There was wonderful attention to detail in this retro shack. So good to find somewhere on the coast that hasn't been turned into a generic brick venereal or a McMansion. Very comfortable, stylish, great garden and stunning spot on the lake. Perfect!
Our third visit. This time it really rained! We still enjoyed swimming at nearby beaches and cooking local produce. And the record player…Whilst it’s basic it’s brilliant!
This beautiful house provided us with a much needed respite from face paced life. Brendan was amazing to deal with, the house was so inviting as we arrived with all the finishing touches covered. There is amazing access to the lake and beach. This place really is special! I could not recommend this stay more highly. We will definitely be back!
We loved this property, it had all we required. We are regulars to Tabourie and were very pleasantly surprised by the coolness coming of the Lake/Ocean on those hot days. We had everything we needed and all the little details we excellent. Especially the Record player and Hammock!!
Highly recommended

Brendan and Josh's place is amazing. It's in an excellent location with beautiful views, terrific access to the lake and a short walk to the beach. With windows and doors that fully fold back, it welcomes the outside in.
We loved using the kayaks provided and relaxing on the outdoor lounges on the verandah. The fairy lights made for a magical night-time atmosphere.
With the landscaping design of the gardens and the retro styling of the home, this is the perfect combination for a wonderful holiday destination!
Fantastic- just as Linda remiss a small child - beautiful location and the retro style was quirky but really enjoyable. A fly screen here and there wouldn’t hurt but we’ll be back
Great location, quiet neighbourhood, great gardens & fire pit, excellent record collection, 2 bathroom s, ambient outdoor lighting, some classic retro furnishings, kayaks & lifevests,
Delightful, quirky, interesting, arty, inspiring. Magnificent setting right on Lake Tabourie. It would be easy not to go anywhere else when staying here, but at least the very short and lovely wander to the great beach. The owners have renovated this cottage in a way that brings it into the now but still keeping the 'then' of when it was built (1950s or 60s?) and the rest of the decades since then. Charming and inviting garden front and back make enjoying this place inside and out effortless.
We absolutely loved the cottage. All the retro details are just gorgeous and everything is catered for. The location on the waterfront is so pretty. We enjoyed the firepit, read a book in the hammock and also used the kayaks. It was perfect. Would love to come back. Lisa
We were very unlucky with the weather, but the cottage was a really cozy space to watch the rain falling on the lake. We had a really relaxing stay, listening to records, playing board games, going for a few walks and taking the kayaks out on the lake.
We had a great time in this cute house! The boys went fishing and caught a few fishes! I enjoyed listening to the disc record! Thank you for hosting us!
An absolute diamond of a property. An escape back to the simple and beautiful life. Music and nature
Brendan was a pleasure to deal with and always replied promptly to any query I had. The property was to die for, so much thought has gone into it. Pure bliss!
This was our 2nd stay at the lake house, and we will continue to return forever more. There is something so special about this place. It is a place of serenity and healing. Highly recommended.
The house is in a great location with very calming views over the lake at the front and an equally beautiful view out the back over the beautiful garden. The beach is a short bushwalk away and we loved using the canoes. The retro design makes the house very comfortable and it is very light and airy.
