About the host

Hosted by Barbara Merlie

Host profile image
We fell in love with Lake Burton when lived in the Atlanta area and bought our first property 25 years ago. We only recently acquired this property for lake access and overflow for our home, but will be sharing it with others when we're not actively using it.

Why they chose this property

Lake Burton is gorgeous mountain lake with cool, clear water and stunning views of lush mountains. It's the highest elevation lake in Georgia and offers an incredible array of activities, shopping and dining.

What makes this property unique

Although the house itself is not on the water, it's a short 4 minute walk to our deeded lakefront lot and boathouse. So you can enjoy a quiet mountain hideaway on a quiet street surrounded by trees, or stroll down to the lake an enjoy lovely views of Murray Cove, the main channel and Billy Goat Island. The dock and boathouse are on a point, so one has the feeling of solitude. And if you're bringing a boat, the public boat ramp is only a minute away and offers free car and trailer parking.
