About this property

"This house lives for the lake!” Flat, fenced-in yard, no stairs to Lake Rabun.

Located on a rare, FLAT, FENCED-in lakefront lot on Lake Rabun - great for children of all ages - “Little Lakemont” is a two-story, family-owned home in the scenic Northeast Georgia Mountains. Bring your bathing suits and a carefree attitude to this quiet section of the lake, where your only task is to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds.

This immaculate home, located less than two hours north of Atlanta, sleeps up to 9 guests, ideal for a family vacation, weekend getaway or a girls' or guys' trip. Little Lakemont is neat as a pin, tastefully and comfortably furnished, and offers the ability to accommodate a crowd, if needed, while still offering cozy privacy to its treasured guests. Easily accessible year-round via paved Lake Rabun Road (trust us, this is a perk!), Little Lakemont has ample parking and no daunting flights of stairs to the house, boathouse or the lake (perk! perk! perk! perk!).

Our large FENCED-IN back lawn is perfect for running around playing tag, chasing fireflies, roasting marshmallows in the in-ground fire-pit or squaring off in a game of Giant Jenga, Horseshoes or Corn Hole (all provided!) under the shade of the Sycamore trees that border the lake. Relax on the wrap-around screened-in porch – where we bet you’ll spend the majority of your time – with unobstructed views of our boathouse and Lake Rabun. You and your guests can enjoy the peaceful calm of “The Narrows” and its no-wake zone, making swimming and water recreation worry-free. Explore the water via our 3-person, 17-foot canoe and 1-person, 15-foot kayak, or stay grounded and make use of our charcoal grill and the boathouse's lounge chairs, dining table and chairs and porch swing.

Speaking of the boathouse, ours is partially covered so you can sunbathe or relax in the shade. We have two boat slips, so feel free to bring your own boat (the Lake Rabun Beach boat ramp is just a stone's throw away) or rent via Michael at Lake Rabun Boat Rentals (706-782-4438) or Hall's Boat House (706-782-4981) . Just be mindful of the no-wake zone in The Narrows, and be sure to wave as friendly “neighbors” pass by, as Southern Hospitality is on full display here at Lake Rabun.

As you enter Little Lakemont through the front door (via the screened-in, wrap-around porch), you’re welcomed immediately by the open kitchen and dining area that overlook the family room. Cook (or simply eat) to your heart’s content with all the pots, pans, plates and utensils one could need. The kitchen features a gas-burning oven and stove, microwave, toaster oven, drip coffee machine, Keurig, dishwasher, garbage disposal and refrigerator with ice machine. We also have an ice-cream machine, slow-cooker, popcorn machine, shaved ice machine, blender and hand-mixer.

If by chance you aren’t taking your meals on the dining table on our screened-in porch (which features our second charcoal grill and two Adirondack-style swivel/rockers), our indoor dining table seats eight (five chairs and one bench) for casual meals. We also have a restaurant-style high chair available for your use, if needed.

The family room is cozy and inviting with a new couch (which folds out to a full-sized bed) and new, comfy, upholstered swivel-rocker chairs, all of which are working hard to divide their time between the entertainment center (stocked with a 43-inch smart TV, DVD player, tons of movies and board games) and the real star of the show, a floor-to-vaulted-ceiling stone, gas fireplace.

The two guest bedrooms are also located downstairs. One features a pillow-top queen bed and the other – in true Lake Rabun fashion – bunk beds (with a trundle as well)! Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, plenty of closet space and storage, and the comfy beds are nicely appointed with crisp linens and quilts. These bedrooms share the immaculate main-floor bathroom, which features a roomy vanity/sink, large linen closet (stocked with bath towels and beach towels) and a shower/tub.

If a quick load of laundry is on your agenda, a washer/dryer combo is conveniently located on the main floor next to the bathroom.

The master suite, with a king-sized bed and attached bath, is located on the second floor, offering quiet seclusion from the rest of the home. If you’re tempted to watch television, the cleanly appointed master bedroom features one of the two TVs in Little Lakemont. Just outside the master is a sunny reading loft, where an overstuffed leather chair and ottoman invite you to settle in and enjoy a good book (borrow one of ours or bring your own) - or take a nap! - with views of Lake Rabun and the boathouse just below. Also on the top floor is a small, gabled bedroom with a single bed, perfect for a child (or an adult who would prefer the privacy of his/her own room versus the pull-out sofa in the living room). There’s plenty of space in this bedroom for a pack-and-play (not provided) for the littlest ones.

There will be no need to leave Little Lakemont once you arrive, but so many places to explore are at your fingertips, should you feel compelled to wander. Enjoy Angel Falls (you can walk from our driveway to the trail head), Minnehaha Falls (a short drive to the trail head, just across the lake from Little Lakemont), Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain State Parks, all offering hiking trails and pristine views. Hall’s Marina, Lake Rabun Inn and Restaurant and Max's Lakeside are a short drive (or boat ride) away; Rabun Beach Grocery is nearly next door (for restocking refreshments, gas for your boat or an ice cream treat or two for the kids...); historic Lakemont beckons with its quaint shopping area, art gallery and café; and plenty of creature comforts (Wal-Mart, Ingle's Grocery Store, Home Depot, fast food ) are available in the nearest city – Clayton, Georgia – and Downtown Clayton is booming with boutiques and amazing restaurants.

We consider Little Lakemont our favorite place on Earth, and we respectfully offer its charm and hospitality to you as you plan your next mountain retreat. Please also visit the listing for our sister property, Green Acres (VRBO #4364136), located right next door to Little Lakemont.

Wonderful stay!

The house was immaculate! The cleanest rental I have ever been in, with every amenity/cookware you could possibly need. We had such a special time with our friends and kids we would love to make it an annual July trip. You could not beat the views from the porch and dock. Thank you so much for a special weekend.

Great getaway

Our family had a great long weekend stay at Little Lakemont. Everything was as described, house was clean and well equipped, and process/communications were responsive. The setting on a quiet section of the lake really is beautiful and great for lounging/swimming/kayaking, and renting/navigating a boat out for watersports was easy. Would definitely recommend.

What a great house!

We had a wonderful week at Little Lakemont. The location is beautiful, the house is outfitted wonderfully, and having the kayak and canoe was such a perk, as was the fire pit - and the screen porch. There was very little traffic on the lake - just so peaceful. We would definitely come back!

Great Holiday Weekend

Had the best time at this wonderful home on Rabun! Owner was very responsive and answered all questions in a timely manner. The house was roomy and comfortable. The Boat House was fantastic which has not been the case at several rentals we have used in the past. Location was delightful. This house is keeper and we will definitely rent again!!

Amazing Vacation!!

We had a wonderful 12 day stay at Billy's Lakemont lakehouse. He was very responsive to any questions we had and so was his property manager. We are a family of 4 and had another family of 4 come stay with us each weekend. It was very accomodating for 2 families. My family is already trying to book our next vacation at his wonderful lakehouse. Thanks Billy!

Perfect Stay at Lake Rabun!

This was the perfect location and home for our family trip. We have been to Lake Rabun quite a few times and never stayed on this part of the lake or had a yard. We loved being in the quiet, no wake zone and being steps from the water. We spent our days floating in the lake and kayaking and our evenings cooking meals in the well equipped kitchen. The owners were very accessible and responded fast when we had a question during our stay. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for anyone looking to have a lakefront getaway.

Peaceful retreat

Our family needed to escape cabin fever from the quarantine and thought a lake retreat would do the trick. The home was very clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The screened porch and boat house deck were perfect to enjoy the sound of the birds and the peacefulness of the lake. The lake water was very clear, and Lake Rabun is a gem! We would love to come again.

Serenity

If I could bottle up the sights and sounds of the lake from the front porch I would. It’s that total peace and an open day for splashing in the lake, puttering around in a boat, chasing fireflies and roasting s’mores to a froggy chorus that makes it feel like the nicest grown up summer camp. This is our second year and we can’t wait to return next year!!

Wonderful!

Great time at this lovely lake house. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Plenty of room for the entire family, games to play on rainy day, kitchen equipped with anything needed, not 1 but 2 grills, awesome dock, fire pit and my favorite was the screen porch across entire back of the house. The fenced in yard was a nice added security for when the little ones were outside playing. We plan to book ASAP for next year whenever we get our dates set. Thanks again for a great time & precious family memories made at Little Lakemont.

Perfect Cozy Lake Cottage

We adored this lake cottage. The outside spaces can literally not be beat. The screened porch, flat yard, fire pit and amazing dock only steps from the back door! We spent all our time for 4 days outside in the fresh air! We ordered curbside from Louies and Lake Rabun Hotel Restaurants but also cooked on the grill and roasted s’mores. There are several hiking trails with beautiful falls in close proximity as well. The water here is a bit shallow and the lake is better for cruising than speeding along but that was definitely to our preference. Billy provided an ample amount of info and made staying here easy. We hope to come back again soon!

Lovely stay on Rabun Lake

Little Lakemont was a great spot for a relaxing few days at the Rabun Lake. We got so much use out of the canoe and the kayak provided. The upper deck of the boathouse was the perfect spot for watching the sunsets, which were spectacular a couple of the nights we were there. The weather was gray and rainy for our stay, but we managed to get a little swimming in anyway, and appreciated it being a no-wake zone. The house inside was equipped with everything we needed. It was great having the choice of eating inside or outside at the long table on the porch. We visited a couple of the places Billy suggested--Goats on the Roof was fun for the kids (and the adults!), and we had a delicious meal at Fortify in Clayton. We hiked the easy hike to Minnehaha falls, which was lovely.

Charming, serene lakeside in the mountain getaway

Cozy, light, open house with large sunny windows facing the lake. Fenced in lawn is perfectly sized for family games and runs flat out to the water's edge. We spent our mornings painting watercolors on the screened-in porch. We spent our evenings sitting under the twinkling lights on the second story of the boat dock, listening to the bullfrogs and the whippoorwills. The lake is resplendent, surrounded by trees in greens of every shade, with rays of sunshine bathing everything. The dock makes it super straightforward to get in for a swim or a quick ride in the kayak. We have rented many places through VRBO and these owners make it so easy between their detailed instructions and the thoughtful layout of their home. Even as we were driving away, we were checking our calendars and plotting our return. See you next year!

This was our second visit to Little Lakemont, and somehow it was even better than the first! The house was fully stocked — from a well-equipped kitchen to games that kept my children and me entertained for hours. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and the dock is pure perfection for swimming, kayaking, or just enjoying a peaceful morning coffee by the water. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, making our stay effortless and relaxing. We’re already dreaming about our next visit — Little Lakemont truly feels like our happy place!

Relaxing short vacation for July 4th

The house was everything we needed. Kitchen had all necessary items. Beds were great. Had breakfast on screened in porch. The dock was where we spent most of our time. Used the kayak and canoe. We brought floats for us to use. We were in the water all the time. Did some fishing too. We hiked to Angel falls and minnehaha falls. Great way to say we got a workout when we spent the rest of the day floating. We cooked all our meals at the house but one. We went to lake rabun hotel and restaurant. Our waitress Taylor was the best. All of our adult kids (5) said we need to come back again. Definitely a keeper for us. Thank you for sharing little lakemont with us.

The Perfect Lake House

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at "Little Lakemont." The home was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing and comfortable getaway. We hiked, fished off the dock (Bluegill and Yellow Perch), and enjoyed the screened porch (ate all our meals there) and boathouse deck. We brought our little 16' aluminum, tiller-motor boat and had fun exploring Lake Rabun, one of our all-time favorite places. Communication with the owner was excellent from answering our questions before we booked through the thorough written information about the home and area. Thanks, Billy and Laura for sharing your family's beautiful lake house! I know we've found a very special place when I get home and think "I miss the lake house." -Elaine & Jim

We are The Schroders! Billy's family has been enjoying Lake Rabun since the 1940s, and we are blessed to now have our own little piece of paradise to share with our daughter, Haly. And you!

Why they chose this property

It's not often you find a house on Lake Rabun on a flat lot, as many are perched on the side of a mountain. Couple this unique attribute with the house having direct access from Lake Rabun Road and being in a quiet section of the lake where we feel comfortable with our little girl learning to swim, and buying this house (what we call Little Lakemont) was the easiest and best decision we ever made.

What makes this property unique

The backyard is fenced in and flat, something rare on a mountain lake. This has proved a HUGE convenience while our daughter plays outside.
