About this property

Free Parking 2 Bed 1 Bath Steps from BU/Kenmore

Summary:
This is a fantastically located 2 bed 1 bath unit. It is located on the third floor and has a lot of natural light in the master bedroom.

This unit is probably best described as an economy unit because the kitchen and bathroom are very small and the unit overall has not been renovated in many years so it has the scuff marks that come with age. Please only book if you could give economy units 5 stars so long as you think it was fairly described here.

ID required after booking.

The Space:
Pros:
*Location is fantastic
-Near Kenmore T stop on the Green Line
-One parking space (very rare in Boston)
*Classic 19th century layout to give a classic Boston feel to your trip
*Lots of natural light in the bedrooms
*Affordable and can fit a large group

Cons:
*Kitchen and bathroom are both very very small. Study the pictures carefully.
*The unit can be a tight fit for a group of more than 4 or 5.
*Feels like an older unit. It will not give you the feeling you'd have walking into a Marriott constructed in 2015.
*Walk up, no elevator

Neither pro nor con, but disclosure:
*Heating is an old style building wide radiator so makes the normal spray/release sound if you've ever been in a pre-war Boston or New York City building before. And there is a single spot under the radiators that has a drip. All this is normal when the radiators are on in the winter.
*Radiators are on from the months of mid September to mid June. They are off the other times of year.

Quirk:
Heating system in the unit is very effective radiator heating as pictured in the corner of each bedroom. They are hot to the touch and as such we do not recommend young children stay in the apartment. Must regulate temperature by using the window AC units even in cooler months.

Guest Access:
You'll be provided with detailed check-in instructions two days before your arrival.

The Neighborhood:
Apartment is close to BU, Fenway, and the Longwood Medical Center.

Getting Around:
There is one free parking spot available.

Other Things to Note:
This unit can only be rented to travelers here on business.

It has been several years since this unit has been renovated. So it has a bit of an older feel to it.

***Parking*** If using the parking space, you must let us know at the time of booking and it is one space for a regular sized consumer car. No work trucks or vans. Look up your model car, it should be no more than 74" wide and 185'' long in order to fit.

Interaction with Guests:
Host is responsive to all messages. Please inquire with any questions.

The property is exactly as listed. The location is great (especially for going to Fenway)! I love the classic Boston charm of the area. It was perfect for our family-thank you!

Location was great. The check in communications could have been better and I had to guess what lockbox the key was in. The bathroom was very small, and strange to be located of the kitchen the way it was.Otherwise everything was fine.

The property was in a lovely old brownstone on a relatively quiet tree lined street. The process of getting the key from the lockbox, obtaining the parking pass, etc was well explained and the directions were easy to follow. The bedrooms are beautiful and filled with natural light and the living room space is small but perfectly functional. The kitchen area was very small, but had everything that we needed. If I had to mention anything resembling a downside it would be that the bathroom was amazingly tiny and very quaint in its crooked wobbliness. We were only there for two nights, and also really enjoyed the quirkiness that comes with old buildings. It was a quick and easy walk to the Kenmore T station, very close to Fenway park, and surrounded by plenty of options of places to eat, grab coffee, etc. We had a very pleasant stay.

Room did the job, unfortunately the lights in both bedrooms did not work. Be aware images may not match the room you receive. Multiple stains on the couch, that are questionable at best. Won’t stay again, but we made it work.

Very cozy and ok for our needs as we were in town for a week to move our kid into a studio apt to attend Northeastern this fall so we were mostly just looking for a space to crash at night. Very well priced and situated for that purpose. It is on the 3rd floor, 4th including basement to get to rear parking with no elevator, so make sure you’re aware of that. Could use a few updates, maybe a TV in the bedroom. The listing calls it out, but it cannot be stated enough how absolutely tiny the bathroom which is basically in the equally tiny sized kitchen truly is. Lol. I lived in a metal box in the middle east that had a bigger bathroom and shower than this thing. We survived it though. The host could lower the shower curtain rod or go with a more transparent shower curtain for the shower so that when closed it isn’t a dark closet with zero light. A guy could be cooking breakfast on the stove whilst using the toilet, thats how close we’re talking. Good wifi, quiet neighborhood. Parking is a huge benefit in the area as that can often be a large expense in these kinds of towns due to the scarcity of it.

This is a really nice place overall. It has a calm vibe with charming period details. The location was great as well. There are some lovely shops and restaurants within walking distance, and the whole neighborhood is full of beautiful older buildings. That being said, there were a few issues:* The host was completely unresponsive. I messaged the host twice with non-urgent questions (early check-in request asking what clean up would be helpful when we left), and he didn't respond at all, not even to apologize for missing the questions!* There were blackout curtains as pictured, but they weren't cut to size, so they covered the only air conditioners in the house. This meant that you could either have A/C (which would blow the curtains out of place) or you could have a dark room for sleeping (which required the A/C to be off).* Various minor issues: one of the mattresses was lumpy with a big divot in the middle, the shower head was insanely low, and the glasses weren't well-washed.All that being said, I'd still choose to stay in this Vrbo again, because it's in a really nice spot and feels calm and peaceful! My rating would be a 5/5 if the issues were fixed and a 3.5-4/5 as-is.

BEWARE! The "fine print" saying the place is intended for business travelers and isn't like stepping into a Marriott is an understatement. I can't imagine any business traveler being comfortable here. Host sent no message prior to check-in but we went ahead on trust, counting on calling the so-called Emergency Phone Number from our car. Countless times I called, but that line only reached a message stating that it was a text-only line. We waited in the front of the building for nearly 40 minutes trying to access the building. The keys were a nightmare to pry from their lock boxes, the stairs and common area was old and dirty and neglected. Once we were in, we discovered that there were no bulbs in wall sconces so we resorted to cheap table lamps or glaring overheads. I found a box of bulbs in one of the nasty, messy closets in the smaller, 2-bed bedroom; fixtures didn't work any better with bulbs in them. We could find no wall outlets; instead, each bedroom was provided a surge suppressor that had to be dragged around the room and across the doorway for bedside access. UNSAFE at best. Advertising a "kitchen" is laughable. The bath had a light/ceiling fan that sounded like we were staying in Central Station, one shelf dangling with an ancient hair dryer, one lone hand towel for two guests, and a shower that was far too small for most adults to use without bumping elbows into walls. My teenage son, unflappable as he usually is, refused to step on any floors...

Kitchen sink needs fixing; internet a bit spotty (I was pushed off a few times); nail in bathroom threshold needs fixing. I’d suggest more that one hand towel for 2 people staying 3 nights.Neighborhood great; street fairly quiet; good space for what we were in Boston to do. Pretty much as advertised.
