625 sq ft one bedroom vacation rental with top of the line amenities: fully stocked gourmet kitchen, sumptuous bathroom, and cozy and romantic bedroom with new memory foam mattress. Ideally suited for an adult couple traveling alone, or with well-behaved pets. Works equally well for short or longer term visits. Eastlake Victorian carriage house, architecturally stunning. Owner received green design award for historic renovation. This unit exudes the charm of a bygone era, but has all the conveniences of modern living. Balcony overlooks main property, garden, and scenic West Cliff Drive. Peek ocean view from balcony. Private on-site parking and plenty of privacy, yet only minutes away from world-class dinning, a dream-like 10k jog/run/stroll right outside your doorstep, scenic vistas, and many opportunities to recreate and enjoy the great outdoors. Owner provides complimentary coffee, decaf, tea, and beverages for your consumption. Garage space available for storage of larger items, and washer/dryer accessible for longer term guests (located in a shared space). Strictly no smoking, please. Pets are cordially welcome for an additional fee---please notify us in advance if traveling with your animal companion.

Also please note: we are fortunate to have temperate, usually quite pleasant weather in Santa Cruz. Due to the historic nature of the building, we were not permitted to install an A/C unit. Please plan accordingly if booking during hot Summer months.

Santa Cruz Getaway
My husband and I stole away an extended weekend to celebrate our Anniversary. This beautiful, relaxing, and stunning carriage house is located north of the boardwalk and south of the surf museum and surfers coves. We spent the entire time walking leisurely along the promenade, loving every moment, preparing food from the sweet open kitchen. The place is so cute with outstanding details that felt so completely home and personal. We cannot wait to return ASAP.

I absolutely loved staying at the Epworth Carriage House! It was so clean and comfortable and Khristina was very helpful and communicative. The location was perfect and I can't wait to go back to Santa Cruz and stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic four night stay with our little dog as part of our 20 year wedding anniversary. The Carriage House is tastefully decorated, well appointed, cozy and comfortable. A modern vintage look and feel. We appreciated all those touches in such an ideal and convenient location. Great neighborhood, walk to beaches, surfing and wharf views and a short drive to other interests. A keen ear can hear the surf and call of the sealions. Santa Cruz is very dog friendly, he thoroughly enjoyed himself, going everywhere we went. We hope to return to continue our adventures. Thanks for everything. Best, John & Andrea

A Fabulous Hidden Gem!
Khristina's carriage house is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for relaxed quiet elegance in an intimate setting. It's ideal location makes walking to the beach, Boardwalk, downtown Santa Cruz or just strolling along West Cliff Dr perfect any time of year. Khristina is a wonderful host and makes you feel like family the moment you arrive. My wife and I are already planning our next visit... it's just that good!

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location! I never thought I would find myself living in a frilly Victorian, but I have grown to love and appreciate the historic nature of my home and it's architectural style. And the view isn't bad, either. :-) I would say this vacation rental is most ideally suited to guests who are seeking non-standard lodging/accommodation that is superbly situated.

What makes this property unique

Landmark property registered on the National directory as 'Epworth-by-the-sea'. The carriage house was actually used to house a buggy and horses during the late 1800's. The bottom floor has been converted into a garage and storage; the top floor is the rental unit. Many of the original design features remain, including rough hewn floors made with redwood harvested from the Santa Cruz mountains more than 100 years ago. We are pet friendly (fees apply---please let us know in advance), and four-legged visitors seems to enjoy the area quite a bit. Off leash dog beach less than half a mile from the property. This property works exceptionally well for longer term guests seeking a home away from home. Guests booking for 30 nights or more are exempt from paying Transient Occupancy Tax (normally 11% of rental cost for stays less than 30 days). We are happy to adjust your rental quote accordingly for longer stays...just ask! Also, we believe in legitimacy, and in providing our guests with peace of mind in knowing that we faithfully observe all rules and taxation principles required in our local Zoning ordinance. Our City of Santa Cruz TOT permit number is 18-0090.
