Whaleback is a duo of treasured cottages located on a secluded point in the Oceanville section of Stonington. Enjoy privacy , ocean frontage and quintessential Maine charm from these seaside retreats on the bridged island of Deer Isle- Stonington.
The main cottage at Whaleback has two bedrooms and one bathroom. The cottage has a great living room and a very well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. The home has an electric range and service for six. The living room area has big views of the open water ahead. The living room has a couple of comfortable arm chairs as well as a full sofa. There is an ornamental fireplace, which means guests are unfortunately not able to use it due to insurance perimeters. The living room in Whaleback does have French doors that open to the patio where there is outdoor dining furniture and stunning views.
Whaleback’s main cottage does have two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a full bed, a dresser and closet. The second bedroom has two twin beds, a dresser and a closet. Between the two bedroom is a full bathroom with a shower and tub combo.
A wonderful addition to this great setting is the bunkhouse. This adorably furnished space is set up with two sleeping areas and a modern bathroom, with a shower/tub combo. The cottage has an outdoor shower around the back. This is a great amenity to have after a day of kayaking or relaxing on the pocket beach.
The setting of the Whaleback cottages is one of the most glorious. Enjoy a tidal cove on one side, deep water frontage of the Penobscot Bay ahead and an inlet of Inner Harbor on the other side, where there is a darling pocket beach for guests to enjoy. Rent some kayaks from The Activity Shop of Stonington Sea Kayak and make everyday an aquatic adventure or pull up a chair and a book and just enjoy the salty, fresh air.

CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be in writing (email is acceptable) and received by the Agent. Cancellations may only be made between the date that a reservation deposit is received and a date determined to be 45 days prior to the Guests’ scheduled arrival date. Cancellations within 45 days of arrival will not result in a refund in whole or part of rental funds received. If a cancellation is made prior to 45 days of arrival, the Agent shall make a good-faith effort to re-rent the property at the published rate for the reserved rental term. No refund of rents paid will be made until the cancelled period is re-rented and confirmed. If the cancelled period is re-rented, any rent and taxes paid will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. If the new rental amount is less than the published rate, any difference in rental rate will be deducted from the rental returned to the tenant. If the unit is not re-rented, all rental funds paid, processing fees and taxes shall be forfeited as damages.
This cancellation policy is strictly followed. Guests are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for all vacations to cover many situations that may arise which might cause one to cancel vacation plans. Life happens and we don’t want you to lose your deposit. There are many independent insurance providers available to tenants. I understand that the insurance company holds this policy and that The Island Agency does not determine eligibility of claims.
