Casita Juliet Is A Wonderful Little House With Charm And Personality

About Melissa /Taos mgr.
Some women collect shoes or husbands. I seem to collect houses! I love buying old adobes, renovating them, furnishing and decorating then turn them into hugely popular vacation rentals Casita Juliet is my fifth home and has a wonderful story. This casita is part of a downtown compound and like the big house on the property (VRBO #482097) was in foreclosure for two years. I saw the potential of this property and am lucky enough to have a mother who at age 96 wanted to do something for me while she was still here to be part of it. I bought the two houses on this property in February 2013 and got to work. Casa Madre was finished in June and has proven to be a very popular rental. Casita Juliet while on the same property has a wonderful sense of privacy. It is separated from Casa Madre by two over the top garden areas, a latilla fence and has it's own private parking area. It is named for my dear friend Juliet who once lived there and is my garden helper and housekeeper. I love all five of my properties, but Casita Juliet is very special to me.
Melissa /Taos mgr. purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Melissa /Taos mgr. chose Taos
As I said earlier I do love buying old adobes, bringing them back to life and making improvements along the way. I fell in love with this property long before I bought it. I was friends with the owner and a fellow yard sale fanatic. When it came up for sale in a foreclosure I told my mom about it and as they say, the rest is history.
What makes this Cottage unique
Casita Juliet is a 1000 sq. ft. complete little house for one person, a couple (or three since the living room couch is big and I have bedding for it) The remodel was fairly gruesome since it entailed removing the roof and raising the ceilings. The original ceilings were only a little over 6' and I'm 5'11' myself. Now the rooms are open and inviting, cozy, but not crowded, decorated with my antiques, art and sense of whimsy throughout. I saved what was charming and unique and repaired or replaced what was just not right or did not appeal to me. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. There is a separate eating area, and a utility room with a washer/dryer. There are two delightful, private outdoor areas under portals for dining or just relaxing. AND this property is just, a five minute walk to the downtown Plaza through a nice, historic neighborhood. I am a plant lover and in summer Casita Juliet is a garden wonderland with in ground plants and flowering pots everywhere. Even in winter you can enjoy all my indoor cactus and succulents in unique pots. No two alike and it's a container if it holds soil! Cowboy boot, oil can, saucepan, bucket... Another advantage to Casita Juliet is that combined with the main house Casa Madre and the Bunk House (so much fun!) this property can be a family compound and sleep 12. It is also fenced and pet friendly! Please note: even if my calendar shows a reservation for your requested dates, contact me. I have six listings on Vrbo and manage another5 also on Vrbo. Everything from one and two bedroom apartments to one, two and three bedroom homes, condos and even family compounds. I can find a rental for you!!!

Great little place.
Had a great time.
Close to the square but secluded as well.
Would definitely stay again.
Great location and sweet little casita
Had a lovely stay at Casita Juliet! Comfortable and had everything we needed plus infusing us with love for the New Mexican Style. Great location and enjoyed walking to the Taos Plaza as well as exploring the surrounding neighborhood during our stay. Thanks for opening up this sweet gem for our stay!
Home away from home.
Nice little home close to the downtown area, comfortable walk to most shops and the square. Easy location for getting out and about in the Taos area.
So glad you enjoyed Casita Juliet, the neigborhood and proximity to Plaza. Quiet, residential neighborhood.
We enjoyed our stay at the casita....
Yes Casita Juliet is a sweet little home. I now have a fenced area by front patio so guests can enjoy their outdoor time with their dog.
Great small casita
This is a charming little casita in Taos. We really enjoyed our stay.
So glad you enjoyed my private little casita in the historic district.
It was perfect and even driving in, the grounds were manicured and clean. Easy to find!
It was close to the downtown plaza, all the amenities you could want, perfect size and the ambiance of Taos. Very clean! You couldn't ask for more!!!
So glad you enjoyed Juliet. It is one of favorites too! I have fun decorating and thinking of all possible amenities for my guests. You should see the gardens and pots in the summer. Literally a riot of color!
Taos has something for everyone. In a small town of less than 6,000 residents we boast great restaurants, galleries, museums shopping, a myriad of outdoor activities and of course the Taos Pueblo--longest occupied settlement in North America)
