Glad you enjoyed the generations cabin. So glad your family and friends were able to make some great memories during your stay. I know the hot tub was hot! But so sorry for the unpredictable Ohio weather and the cold front that came in. Welcome back anytime!

The biggest positive was the amount of space. Hartville was a nice area, the neighborhood was generally quiet, and the pool was clean. Unfortunately, there were several issues future guests should know about. The house was not very clean. Cobwebs all over the house, the silverware holder had crumbs and debris beer cans were left in the fire pit, birds’ nests were in the gutters, and a bird had become trapped in a gutter and died. The grass around the pool, seating area, and backyard was higher than anticipated. With children and wooded areas nearby, we were uncomfortable letting them play outside due to tick concerns. The hot tub was green and scummy for roughly half our stay. I contacted the host on the first day, and although it was eventually cleaned, nobody in our group wanted to use it. The listing did not disclose that the property uses well water. We ended up purchasing additional water for brushing our teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, and boiling. There was also an exterior camera facing the pool that was not disclosed. The three-level house was extremely noisy. The floors creaked and squeaked loudly, and sound traveled between floors, making nighttime activities difficult with children. Finally, the rental agreement includes substantial fees for noise complaints or interactions with neighboring property. We were never charged, but the neighbor referenced in these rules is also responsible for maintaining the property, which raised concerns about the arrangement.

Response from VrboOwner on 24 Aug 2026
Thank you for the detailed response and pictures. Unfortunately August in Ohio has been very wet. This lead to the lawn crew not arriving until Saturday afternoon. We did have birds nest that was full of baby birds, they finally left the nest and the nest has been removed from the gutter. The water is well water, but it runs through a filter system and is drinkable and has no sulfur content. It is an open floor plan which is great for interaction as their is a great room and an open loft, but when you have 20 guests you will have to find the quiet spaces on the front porch, basement or the 2 acres outside. The hot tub was pristine by the next morning, the prior guests has used sunscreen/oils and we had to shock the water to get it back to crystal clear. So we were glad you were able to use the hot tub for the majority of your stay. Thank you and safe travels!

Nancy- so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. Sorry about the play set- that picture is for the pool and if you read the caption it says there is no playset. We had it removed in 2020. Hope you come back again. We would love to host you again!

The perfect place to celebrate our parents 70th Anniversay!

Four generations together! My parents were able to relax and enjoy their family, the cabin and the surroundings. The out-of-towners stayed at the cabin and the locals joined us for evening dinners and weekend afternoons. The owner was very responsive before our stay by email and during our stay our texts were answered immediately. We would definitely recommend this lovely, relaxing, well-appointed home.

Nice country getaway

We enjoyed our time at this property. The owner was extremely responsive and easy to connect with for any questions/concerns. The whole extended family enjoyed using the pool and hot tub, and when it rained (a lot during our visit, sadly) we had fun inside playing cards and board games. While the location is a bit removed from everything we liked it that way because the goal for us was to spend time together. Recommended.

Just Right

We were a small group of church workers that have an annual conference/retreat. This year there were 11 of us. The sleeping areas were just right. The kitchen was well equipped for our meal preparation. The sitting areas upstairs and downstairs worked well for our small group discussions. The Generations Cabin in Hartville is a great location to have a little break time to explore and to go to dinner 'out'.

Kids loved the pool

The family (8 adults and 9 kids) had a great week. With the bedrooms and bathrooms spread out over all 3 floors it worked out well. The kids had a fabulous time in the pool - the weather was great for their first pool experience of the summer (sunny and in the 80's every day). We spent a lot of time enjoying the large yard - we set up a 9 hole frisbee golf course - and a large obstacle course and engaged in a ten-event family olympics during the week. We also enjoyed the beautiful rose bushes and the peonies blossomed while we were there.
