Such a cute house

I’ve been coming to the OBX for 24 years. Now that our family has expanded my wife and kid decided to book a house just the 3 of us for a week before everyone came down. Captains Choice was perfect for us. The screened in porch is the best at night. We’ll definitely be back

We loved the location. This is a cute house but it needs some upgrading. Kitchen cabinets are falling apart, only 1 TV, very uncomfortable furniture and no access to the canal for kayak or paddleboards.

My wife and I have been visiting the OBX from Corolla to Hatteras dozens of times since the late 1970`s. This was as fine a home as we have ever stayed in and enjoyed it tremendously. The owner clearly cares about this property and it really makes a difference. We would definitely rent again if we can. Quaint

This house is typical of the older properties on the island. It is comfortable, in a great location, and functional. It is not for those looking for luxury, but I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. The house was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. My (78 year old) mom and I rented it for a long weekend of surf fishing together. We had a great time, and will likely book this house again for future trips.

Great location, not great furnishings

House was a perfect size and location. Beautiful screened in back porch with an awesome view for morning coffee and the evenings. The furniture was not comfortable at all, so pray for no rainy days. Mattresses were not comfortable either, but got the job done. Floors looked clean, but upon wiping up a spill, we realized they desperately needed to be mopped or steam cleaned. Keep your socks on!

Nice place to stay

We initially plan to stay for 3 nights, but end up staying for 5 nights because of road closures. The place is so nice other than few issues. 1st there’re is not even basic toiletries like kitchen paper towel, dish wash pod, trash bag, etc. it just had toilet paper, 2nd, the shower water controller nob brave away and they couldn’t replaced it during our stay which cause inconvenience to take bath properly. 3rd, sofa cushion had a foul smell.

furniture was hard as a rock.

The furniture in this house was the worst that I have ever sat on. Not comfy at all. It is not the furniture that is on your web sight. The house needs to be up grated. Old kitchen cabinets and stove that is falling apart. House is sagging in the middle. Bathroom was the only room that has been up grated. Will not stay hear again.

The place is ok, but definitely needs some maintenance

In general it isn't a bad place, but there are things that could be improved. Furniture in the living room is very uncomfortable, the only large burner on the stove does not work most of the time. There was a pretty foul odor in the house, pretty fishy smell, some air fresheners helped a bit. The house is pretty unlevel and can catch you off guard when you first wake up in the morning. The dock was good to have, but many of the boards are loose and the fish cleaning table is no longer there.

Clean but Extremely Uncomfortable

We stayed in this home five years ago, and were happy to see the kitchen was renovated. Lots of improvements there. The entire house was clean and well appointed. The canal view was lovely. The only issues we had were with the furniture and the TV. There is not one comfortable piece of furniture inside this home. Due to tropical storm Debby, we were stuck inside most of the week. The sofa and chair are as hard as the floor. We could not sit comfortably anywhere except on the screened deck, but rain forced us back inside. The beds were equally hard and uncomfortable. The only TV on the house was tiny. Like dorm room tiny. Decent enough house, but serious improvements are needed.

Rustic, Quaint, Lovely location

Enjoyed the porch overlooking the canal. Homes around it were to big to enjoy the sunrise, or sunset. Ideal location for anyone traveling with the intent of kayaking, jet skiing, boating, water sports, and swimming. Altho, the dock could use some attention. Cut my foot on nails sticking up out of the wood. Appreciated having a hose to rinse our truck down after coming off the beaches. The interior of the home was comfortable, and very much rustic, but clean. Very well stocked kitchen. Refrigerator doesnt have a ice machine. The only real issues we entered was the washer failed to work. Vacasa did respond quickly coming over within a few hours, unfortunately, they were unable to fix, but did compensate for the inconvenience. The toilet seat would slip around when you sat down, and we found used band aids in the bunk bed room but overall clean. It is a quiet location. Would rent again.
