About the host
Hosted by Carol Parker
Since 1975, Gary has lovingly cared for this unique property. He raised two children here, and it will always be his home. A native Coloradan, he enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, and telemark skiing.
In the late 1970s, bluegrass musicians gathered here to strum and pick the evenings away. In the photo, he’s playing the fiddle — one of many musicians who passed through the front house over the years.
As for me, I’ve been in Colorado since 2004 and am still learning the joys of hiking and camping — though this California girl hasn’t taken to biking or skiing just yet! I’m here to look after you during your stay at the Hideaway and to help with anything you may need.

What makes this property unique
The Hideaway was built sometime before 1905, the year the lots in this neighborhood were platted. We’re not exactly sure of the original construction date — only that this little house has been standing here for a very long time. The property line on the north side even wraps around its foundation, a unique reminder of its early beginnings.
The main house in front was built in 1925 and still feels like a beautifully preserved time capsule, just as grand as the day it was completed.
