We absolutely loved this house. It immediately felt like home. It is comfortable, cozy, quiet, and had absolutely everything that we needed, even down to the homemade quilts to wrap up with on the couch for those rainy, windy days.Botwood is a lovely, friendly, quiet community, with beautiful murals around town. It was a good central location for all of the exploring we wanted to do, and we always felt great coming 'home'. Our favourite day trip was up to Leading Tickles where we saw our first iceberg. On the way home, we discovered Otter Pond, which is a magical pond with a lovely hike all the way around it.Kent was excellent with all communication. I'd have to say that this was my favourite VRBO find to date. My husband got tired of me saying that if we ever build another home, I'd want it to look just like this. He said it felt like being at Grandma's house which has been perfectly renovated. Both very sincere compliments. Thanks Kent. We will be talking about and recommending this rental often.

My wife and I love travel, home projects, live music, and spending time with family and friends. We’ve lived in a few very different places over the years, including Newfoundland and the Middle East, and those experiences shaped how we think about hospitality. We enjoy creating spaces that feel relaxed, welcoming, and full of character.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the area because it captures so much of what we love about Newfoundland — the ocean views, fresh air, slower pace, and welcoming people. There’s a peacefulness here that’s hard to explain until you experience it for yourself.

What makes this property unique

What makes Millie’s unique is the combination of history, character, and comfort. This beautifully restored 100-year-old cottage still features its original hardwood floors, mouldings, high ceilings, and vintage charm, while offering modern amenities and thoughtful updates throughout. Guests can relax on the covered veranda overlooking the Bay of Exploits, enjoy the peaceful gardens and fruit trees, and walk to downtown Botwood, the murals, and historic sites within minutes. Most of all, the home has a genuine warmth and story behind it that guests seem to truly connect with.
