About the host
Your host
Your hosts Mary and Dan have owned Sunset Lodge for 12 years and have track record of excellence on other platforms. We always dreamed of a 'working retirement' in the Leelanau Peninsula after decades of visits to the area. We purchased Sunset Lodge after staying here often as guests and falling in love with Omena. We love hosting our wonderful guests! And feel grateful to provide visitors the wonderful experience of exploring this exceptionally beautiful region.
Why they chose this property
Omena is peaceful and serene, much less "touristy" than the larger towns. The community is wonderful with residents committed to preserving the history and authentic charm of this little village. Omena is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
The village is a very short walk from our property and has a popular waterfront restaurant "Knot Just A Bar", Leelanau Cellars tasting room, V Gallery, Omena Country Store, historical museum and public beach.

What makes this property unique
Sunset Lodge is the only remaining of the original Omena "resorts", most of which closed by the 1950s. The main house and cottages were built in 1890s and have a long and interesting history. The buildings have been carefully maintained with thoughtful renovations that preserve their rustic, quaint feel. Our guests have modern amenities for comfort and ease, along with historic charm.
Sunset Lodge is a Michigan State Historic Site and listed in National Register of Historic Places.
