About this property

1 mile walk from Bath yet almost isolated-10 ft tide and eagles. Perfection!!

Please read all of this to the end..... Just ask our friends, family, and renters and they will all tell you that Graywoods is the perfect house, with the perfect location (1 mile from Bath), with the perfect opportunities for you to enjoy a fabulous vacation, ANY TIME OF THE YEAR!!!
The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. One of the bedrooms and bathrooms is on the ground floor which is perfect for those who might have difficulty navigating stairs. 3 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs have glorious water views.
The main floor is open space with a dining room table that can easily seat 14 and two "living areas" one of which has a lovely wood burning fireplace.
The screened in porch and deck serve as more living space with a grill, hot tub, and comfy porch furniture for relaxation and conversation.
The grounds/lawn/garden are expansive and very guest friendly. A simple tree swing has been enjoyed for many years by children of all ages. Cornball is also a lively option. Of course within a 5 mile area, one finds tennis courts, golf courses, and a vibrant YMCA.
A very short walk on a forest path takes you to our dock where you will find two paddle boards, two kayaks, and a canoe. The dock comes in during the winter but "the fleet" remains always accessible. 10 foot tides provide incredible opportunities to explore our bay.
Finally, Graywoods is our family house. Our kitchen is fully equipped (Viking 6 burner stove, double wall ovens, commercial ice machine, warming drawer and all the utensils and machines you could possibly use) to help you to prepare delicious meals. Don't worry about bringing spices, condiments etc as you will find most of them waiting for you.
Linens and towels are all monogrammed and beautiful.
There is a treasure chest of games, toys for children of all ages, and books that will offer you opportunities to relax like you haven't been able to do for many years!
We have lived in many places and our furniture and art all reflect the full lives we have been privileged to lead.
There is still one thing that makes Graywoods special and different from almost any other rental - OUR EAGLES
Just off our deck and with no need for binoculars is our eagle's nest and it is HUGE. This year we had two babies hatched on May 1 and taking their first flight on July 4th!! Although they have left their nest, parents and babes return daily for old times' sake. What a privilege this is.....
We have built a small apartment on the north side of the house and reserve the right (very, very infrequently) to use it while the house is rented. If this is a concern to you let's talk before you reserve.
If you have ANY questions, just send them on or call at 207-233-9120. We care about Graywoods and rent it not just for the $$$$ but really because it is so very special that we want to share it with you particularly as we have lived in it during all four of the seasons. It rocks! Hugh and Judy

October at Graywoods
This was our fourth annual autumn trip to Graywoods. Such a wonderful home and location. Highlights included hiking at Bradbury Mountain, Morse Mountain and Popham. The eagles outdid themselves this year, always a wonder to watch. We have already reserved for next year!

Retired Nurses--"girls get-away"
Lovely rental..we have done a yearly trip for several years now and this "home" was one of the best. Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms to meet our needs. A well equipped kitchen with the added perks of an ice machine and a wine cooler was quite a surprise. Judy and Hugh were very attentive and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. We just may do a repeat of this location.

Graywoods is perfect for Girl’s Weekend!
We needed a kitchen for cooking, a big table for games, and plenty of room to spread out and we found all that and more at Graywoods! The stars at night, the breathtaking sunrises, the views, the Eagles! This family home is full of memories and we are so happy we were able to make our own here, too!

We are a happily retired couple with 4 grown kids and 11 grandchildren. Our professional lives have required travel worldwide and while we continue to travel, Graywoods is our favorite place to be although we do divide our time between Chapel Hill and Maine. We love answering questions from our renters!

Why they chose this property

We chose to buy a family home in this location as it is within walking distance to Bath and has a view that simply does not end. We only started renting the house when our children were not able to use it. This house is too special not to share and when purchased was never intended to be a rental.

What makes this property unique

This is a special place. The dining room table seats fourteen and is the starting point for many wonderful conversations. The house is about being! Outside there are lovely gardens and a walk through the woods to a dock with great boating and swimming - when the tide is right! The city of Bath, Maine is within walking distance and you get to walk right by the Dairy Queen to get there. There are so many wonderful things to do here.
